Being a rockstar is an exception... But it all boils down to them being a foreigner, of course, whether they are successful athletes or fighters, the bottomline is: Mga foreigner yung babaeng yun kaya nagagandahan tayo. The same thing with those foreigners having a moolah with our Pinays, heheheh!

you're still a star. star spells success. the only exceptions are prostitutes and porn actors.

amen to that.

anyhow as for the recognition (and poontang as you put it) that MMA fighters get. well speaking from experience (from the local scene) wala masyado yan. apart from the usual kudos you get from your friends and family you hardly get any rockstar type of acolades given you. mas madami pa din talagang chicks ang mga basketball player. hehe.

some of you make it sound as if the sport has absolutely no draw with girls. :) well, in that case, i feel better that i just watch the sport on tv.

i dont know... Setting aside the obvious (i.e., love, family, self-fulfilment, etc), my motivation for doing stuff can be boiled down to 3 things:

1. power

2. money

3. girls

If i cant have any one of the 3, then i dont see the point. I mean, why do it? Again, motherhood statements aside. But if you insist, then i'll give you that.

#3 is the easiest to get, especially if you have #'s 1, 2 or both. But even w/o power nor money, girls seem reasonably attainable. And i dont mean hoes when i say "girls."

thanks bro. i guess i was just born too early for the sport. even if i get into it now, i know i wont amount to anything. so i just sit in the sidelines and watch.

I'm into circuit racing now. I guess it's one of the few remaining sports for this phase of my life. Golf could be one too but i just couldnt learn to love it.

As for your being single, i guess winning even just one fight in URCC would put you in the radar of many girls. So go for it dude. I wish you all the luck. :)

Same here actually looks like i was born too early for the sport... racing is also my sport napunta lang ako sa MMA coz hindi pako maka race (low finance pa eh)...

Thanks for the Inspiration... cguro nga kahit isang panalo lang sa isang fight...

if you are going to practice MMA for the chicks, then you are in the wrong boat. believe me, practicing MMA will not get you laid. even slaying a muay thai legend will get you little more than "great fight." or "galing ah." do not attribute these guys' ability to acquire desirable poontang to the practice of MMA. rather, let us attribute it to a more logically plausible trait: success. Mir, Belfort, Baroni, Nog, Shogun. all successful mixed martial artists. success always gets you chicks, be it basketball, drag racing, business, or war. technically, these guys obviously acquired chicks through being celebrities, not mixed martial artists.

NO NO! I'm not saying that I will get laid... but what i think kc based on observations and experience with others...may advantage ang isang pagiging competative...

I just don't know if you have seen an ASSUMPTIONISTA...In fact I find them more preety over these foreing beautys.... kuntutuusin madaling pasagutin ang pinay... kaso dahil sa mga nababasa at napapanood mula sa mga foreign media they become sophisticated in such a way na tayo mga lalaki ang nadadapa sa pagpasagot sa kanila...tignana nyo mga dalgang bukid... bolahin mo lang jackpot... eh ang isang manilenya... ina ku pow!

It somehow helps being an artist be it in media or sport... be it in basketball or MMA... it helps for sure... and that what I'am after...

Anyway Im excited to see hendo back in UFC as well as for munoz who I heard he will start his campaing in UFC this 2009...

My high hopes for the three pinoys... in UFC... Vera, Nover and Munoz!

yeah i know machida is good....at dancing around the octagon hehehehehe..i'm sure everybody praises him for his so called "ELUSIVENESS"; but this is what makes this guy unpopular, his fights are boring because all he does is punch & run

why the hatin man? diba ganyan naman talaga philosophy ng karate... make damage without taking a hit ala bruce lee (the dragon) i hope people would learn to appreciate his technique...

As much as I would like to say that anything can happen in MMA, this is the only certain thing in MMA: "Lyoto 'the Dragon' Machida will win!" regardless of who his opponent is. Do I need to say more?

amen to that amen!!! the dragon will become the champion soon... rashad vs. lyoto for the title na siguro ang next.... magandang story line pareho unbeaten.... then the ufc can now make a hype about lyoto kasi d gaano popular si rashad like lyoto.....

if you ask me, if I'll be a fighter like some of our buds here, I'd rather be someone polite & respectful (like how Renzo Gracie describes Fabio Leopoldo in the Renzo Gracie: Legacy docufilm) and still be a badass when I fight. i'd rather build up my reputation the right way than build up my ego the wrong way.

just my 2 cents on that matter.

(btw, if you guys can DL the Renzo Gracie: Legacy docufilm please do so. highly recommended.)

tuloy ba Ken vs Frank Shamrock?

both are still talking like it's gonna happen.. well, since EliteXC's already dead there goes one venue for that fight.. Strikeforce? that fight, no matter the hype, will tarnish whatever good reputation Strikeforce has earned for being a good grassroots promotion..

Ken's one of my favorites when I got into MMA, & I love the love-hate deal I have with Frank, so I really hope this happens.

amen.

i still pray for the day where EVERYBODY will appreciate technique and strategy as well, rather than just sheer guts and aggression. wala nang hardcore, wala nang TUF Generation. sana lang...

you'll think Lyoto's a pussy with his aforementioned elusiveness, but have you guys forgotten how he disposed Sokodjou, who's a top level judoka (not an MMA fighter, judoka) who's training with Hendo at Team Quest Temecula? he made getting that arm triangle look easy.

some fighters just don't want to play human chicken, as BJ puts is nicely. i respect that.

Yup I agree. The Legacy Documentary is a must watch for fighters and coaches alike.

The ideal fighter would be like that a badass in the ring but a gentleman outside it.
