NUSTAR The Mall (Cebu): Gucci, Louis Vuitton & Cebu's First Luxury Maisons

The Louis Vuitton at NUSTAR The Mall is, at 490 square metres, the largest Louis Vuitton store in the Philippines — calibrated in interior design as a tribute to the brand's Place Vendôme Maison in Paris, with art commissions from Cebuano artists Vito Selma and Daniela Riva woven through the retail vocabulary. The Tiffany & Co. is the country's largest. The Gucci carries bags with lime-green leather detailing that appears only in Cebu, in no Manila store. The premier boutique roster reads: Boss, Bulgari, Burberry, Celine, Dior, Ferragamo, Givenchy, Gucci, Kenzo, Lacoste, Loewe, Louis Vuitton, Montblanc, Off-White, Porsche Design, Rimowa, Saint Laurent, Tiffany & Co., Tory Burch, Univers, Versace — plus the prestige-beauty programme of Clé de Peau Beauté, Estée Lauder, Jo Malone, and Rustan's Beauty Source. The four-level, 20,000-square-metre upscale concourse sits within the NUSTAR Resort & Casino integrated-resort campus on Kawit Island, in the South Road Properties reclamation district of Cebu City. The only luxury mall in the Visayas and Mindanao — and the first time the Philippines' top-tier maisons have opened beyond Metro Manila.

The Cebu Maisons Argument

For three decades, the Philippine luxury retail map ran a single-city pattern. Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., Saint Laurent, Bulgari, Dior, Hermès, Chanel — the global maisons that affluent Filipinos collected — all operated within Metro Manila. The closest Cebu, Davao, or any other regional centre came was a duty-free corner of a resort or the carriage-trade boutique that import-and-resold rather than franchised. The maisons did not, themselves, come south.

That changed when NUSTAR The Mall opened its luxury concourse across the second half of 2024. Twenty-one international maisons — including the country's largest Louis Vuitton and largest Tiffany & Co. — debuted Visayan flagships within a single four-level retail building. By the time the property became near-fully operational in September 2024, Cebu had been re-positioned in the global luxury retail map: not as a regional adjunct of Manila, but as Asia's newest luxury destination (the property's own marketing framing, validated subsequently by Tatler Asia and Esquire Philippines feature coverage).

The structural argument: Cebu's affluent local population, its international tourist arrivals via Mactan-Cebu International Airport, and its position as the Visayas-and-Mindanao gateway justified the maison investment.

Getting There — From Cebu and Beyond

NUSTAR The Mall sits on Kawit Island, South Road Properties (SRP), the same Cebu reclamation district that hosts SM Seaside City Cebu and the broader SRP affluent corridor.

For affluent visitors arriving from abroad via Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB), the property is thirty to forty minutes by car depending on the routing — the fast route runs over the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) which connects Mactan Island to the SRP at the Cebu mainland end. From Cebu City downtown, ten to fifteen minutes by car. From the NUSTAR Resort & Casino Fili Hotel lobby, the Mall sits within the same integrated-resort campus — a five-minute interior walk.

The property's positioning means most luxury shoppers arrive as part of a broader NUSTAR booking — the hotel-and-mall-and-casino-and-dining day that the integrated-resort programme delivers. For the affluent Cebu local, the standalone day visit is the more frequent pattern.

The Four-Level Concourse

NUSTAR The Mall operates across four retail levels totalling approximately 20,000 square metres of gross leasable area. The concourse runs the standard luxury retail floor pattern: the largest maisons on the prime lower levels with the broader luxury and prestige-beauty programme above, dining at the upper levels.

The mall's interior design reads as a deliberate departure from the conventional Philippine luxury retail register. Marble, polished metal finishes, and curated artwork integrate with the broader NUSTAR Resort architectural vocabulary. The lighting is calibrated lower than the typical Cebu mall floor; the music programme runs quieter. The atmosphere is, by Philippine luxury retail standards, deliberately closer to the Macau Galaxy or Singapore Marina Bay Sands luxury concourse than to the brighter Greenbelt 5 register that Makati offers.

The Louis Vuitton — Place Vendôme in Cebu

The signature maison at NUSTAR The Mall is the Louis Vuitton store — at 490 square metres, the largest Louis Vuitton store in the Philippines.

The interior design carries an explicit reference: the Place Vendôme Maison in Paris, Louis Vuitton's headquarters on the historic luxury square. The Cebu store reproduces architectural and materials details from the Paris flagship, calibrated for the southern Visayan context. Cebuano artists Vito Selma and Daniela Riva were commissioned for art pieces that integrate Filipino craftsmanship into the Louis Vuitton retail vocabulary — the kind of regionalised art commission that the brand typically reserves for its global flagship stores.

For Louis Vuitton collectors who have visited the Place Vendôme, the Cebu store reads as a recognisable Philippine echo of the Paris reference. For first-time Louis Vuitton shoppers, the store delivers the brand's full product range plus the bespoke Cebu touches.

The Other Headlining Maisons

Beyond the Louis Vuitton, the property's notable retail flagships include:

  • Tiffany & Co. — the country's largest, calibrated as a destination flagship for affluent jewellery purchases that previously required a Greenbelt or Power Plant Mall visit
  • Gucci — with lime-green leather detailing on selected bags that the brand has reserved exclusively for the Cebu store, available in no Manila Gucci
  • Dior, Bulgari, Saint Laurent, Burberry, Ferragamo — the broader maison headline tier, each with substantial regional store footprints
  • Versace, Givenchy, Loewe, Celine, Kenzo, Tory Burch — the fashion maison programme calibrated for the affluent regular customer
  • Porsche Design, Rimowa, Montblanc — the lifestyle-and-luggage maison programme
  • Boss, Lacoste, Univers, Off-White — the broader premium-tier menswear and lifestyle programme

For affluent Visayan and Mindanao shoppers who previously made the Manila flight for maison purchases, NUSTAR The Mall ends the Manila-flight requirement. The maison roster matches and, in the Louis Vuitton and Tiffany cases, exceeds the Metro Manila offering.

The Prestige Beauty Programme

Alongside the fashion maisons, NUSTAR The Mall delivers a curated prestige-beauty programme. Clé de Peau Beauté (the Shiseido-owned ultra-luxury skincare and cosmetics brand), Estée Lauder, Jo Malone, and Rustan's Beauty Source define the beauty floor. The Clé de Peau debut at NUSTAR is the brand's first standalone Visayan presence — significant for the brand's Philippine retail footprint expansion.

The Cebu Artist Integration

A distinctive editorial fact for affluent visitors: NUSTAR The Mall is one of the few Philippine luxury retail destinations that integrates Cebuano artists into the maison retail interiors. Vito Selma at Louis Vuitton; Daniela Riva alongside. Across other tenant stores, the property's interior design programme has selectively integrated local Filipino craft into the global maison vocabulary — the editorial decision that positions the Mall as a luxury-and-Filipino-craft hybrid rather than a generic maison concourse.

For visitors interested in the cultural dimension, the artist integration is a defining property feature.

How NUSTAR The Mall Compares — Within Cebu and Beyond

Within Cebu City, NUSTAR The Mall occupies a category effectively of its own. The other Cebu mall destinations — Ayala Center Cebu, SM Seaside City Cebu, SM City Cebu, and Ayala Malls Central Bloc — operate at the mass-affluent and premium-affluent registers but do not carry the maison roster that NUSTAR The Mall delivers. Within the Visayas and Mindanao more broadly, no other property delivers the luxury-mall programme.

Within Philippine luxury retail nationally, NUSTAR The Mall sits in conversation with the established Metro Manila luxury destinations — Greenbelt, Power Plant, the Shangri-La Plaza, and Rustan's Makati. The Cebu property is, by maison count, smaller than Greenbelt's full luxury concourse; by store-size headline statistics (Louis Vuitton 490 sqm largest in the Philippines), it competes at the top tier.

For affluent travellers planning a Manila-and-Cebu trip, NUSTAR The Mall layers into the broader Cebu programme — a luxury-and-leisure weekend booking that the integrated-resort campus completes.

When to Visit

The Cebu affluent traveller calendar runs to the dry season (November-May). Sinulog Festival in late January is the city's peak event window — book NUSTAR Resort & Casino accommodations three or more months ahead for Sinulog. Chinese New Year, Korean Chuseok, Holy Week, and Christmas-New Year are equally peak.

For the dedicated maison-shopping visit, weekday afternoons deliver the quietest browsing and the longest-tenured sales associate availability.
