As a kid in the '70s, the Philippines was a modestly industrialized country. We used to go on field trips to factories within the metro and OH, you had shoe factories, candy factories, factories for soap, textile and garment factories, various kinds of metal works, even electronics factories. Well, all of those have moved out of the metro or simply died out. Broadly, a fresh graduate's option now is either the local service-utilities field or seek employment abroad. For either option, a bachelor's degree is the best bet. Comrade from purely local the job marketplace is now global. Best to target emerging fields ( like fintech ) and choose the corresponding college courses that may at best give you an adequate grounding in your potential career. There are also internationally accepted certificates that you may want to aim for and acquire to augment your cv. For those about to graduate dont go for any job ( like call centre) simply because its there. Quote Link to comment
ilustrisimokolakes7
Madaming libreng SUCs besides UP. Youll be surprised na sobrang dami nang conyo at mayaman sa UP which makes free tuition for all sounds unfair. Would have preferred bracketing. Unlike what social media portrays, Sobrang liit lang ng porsyento nila ang aktibista. Quote Link to comment
macbolan00
Socialized tuition at UP is really just a minor matter. UP is open to all qualified applicants, rich or poor. Kill your notion that state colleges are just for the poor. It's not so hard. Try it. Take a deep breath... Quote Link to comment

Sa UP hindi naman free ang tuition substantially lower lang than Ateneo or La Salle And there is indeed socialized bracketing. Re activism it is good for students to be critical thinkers . Of all the things I learned is to always ASK and FIND OUT WHY. Wag tanggapin ang status quo and push for a change for the better. And that is encouraged by most of the faculty. If that means to rail and demonstrate and fight for what you think is right so much the better. Quote Link to comment

The only reason na may babayaran is if you stay longer than the course residency requirement. Quote Link to comment
FF
Hmmm worth looking into. Will be having dinner with the UPD Chancellor later tonight. Might be an interesting topic. Quote Link to comment
macbolan00
The current chancellor might not know Alfred Pascual who has just been appointed as DTI chief. But one professor who's my friend says Pascual was a complete A-hole when he was UP president. He was appointed only because of his frat ('lonsi.) They say he was even fired from AIM because of a sexual harassment case. Quote Link to comment

Ang swerte niyo. The only downside is that we are totally dependent on what the government will allot to us for operation. Swerte din tayo dahil magaling ung coach at team natin!
