ANAHEIM -- Frederik Andersen earned his first shutout in more than a year and Sami Vatanen scored the lone goal to help the Anaheim Ducks to a 1-0 win against the Buffalo Sabres at Honda Center on Wednesday.

Anaheim (32-19-8) has won six straight games and is 20-4-2 since the Christmas Break.

Andersen made 26 saves for his first shutout since Jan. 27, 2015. He's won four straight decisions and is 5-0-1 in his past six starts.

Vatanen scored with the man-advantage at 3:20 of the second period when Ryan Getzlaf fed Vatanan for a long-range snap shot through traffic. The Ducks have scored power-play goals in each of their past six games.

Flyers' Neuvirth makes 24 saves in win against Wild

PHILADELPHIA -- Pierre-Edouard Bellemare scored early in the third period to lift the Philadelphia Flyers to a 3-2 win against the Minnesota Wild at Wells Fargo Center on Thursday.

Sam Gagner and Mark Streit scored for Philadelphia (27-22-11), and goalie Michal Neuvirth made 24 saves, including a sprawling stop against Wild forward Charlie Coyle in the final seconds to preserve the win.

It was the Flyers' third victory at home in their past 10 games (3-3-4). Their six-game homestand continues Saturday against the Arizona Coyotes.

Thomas Vanek had a goal and an assist for Minnesota (27-24-10), which lost its second straight game after winning its first four under new coach John Torchetti. Mikael Granlund scored, and Devan Dubnyk made 28 saves.

The loss also ended the Wild's three-game road winning streak, their longest since winning six straight Feb. 20-March 14, 2015.

Bellemare's goal, his fourth of the season, was his first in 32 games. Chris VandeVelde pulled the puck out of a scrum behind the Minnesota net and tried to stuff it inside the post. Dubnyk stopped him, but Bellemare, who was pushed to the ice by Minnesota's Ryan Carter, knocked in the rebound at 3:21 of the third.

The Wild had two great chances to tie it late, but Neuvirth made spectacular saves.

With 5:03 left and on the power play, Vanek sent a cross-ice pass to Granlund at the bottom of the right circle. In the time it took Granlund to settle the puck and get off a shot, Neuvirth was able to lunge across and make a spectacular save with his right pad.

COLUMBUS -- A poor start to the season and the burden of being a first-year captain for the Columbus Blue Jackets has made for a long season for Nick Foligno.

Foligno got a measure of satisfaction when he had three goals and an assist in a 6-1 win against the New Jersey Devils at Nationwide Arena on Thursday.

"I'm happy for him," Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella said. "It's been a grind."

The Blue Jackets (25-29-8), who lost their first eight games this season, have two regulation losses (8-2-4) in the past 14 games.

"Hopefully the gods were smiling tonight," Foligno said. "It was nice to contribute and help the guys. That's something I pride myself on."

This was the second NHL hat trick for Foligno; the first came April 4, 2015 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

TORONTO -- The Toronto Maple Leafs ended a four-game losing streak with a 3-1 win against the Carolina Hurricanes at Air Canada Centre on Thursday.

Brad Boyes, Josh Leivo and PA Parenteau scored for Toronto (21-28-10), which went 1-2-1 on its four-game homestand. Goalie Jonathan Bernier made 30 saves.

Former Maple Leafs defenseman John-Michael Liles scored for the Hurricanes (28-24-10), and Cam Ward had 26 saves.

 

Parenteau's tip-in CAR@TOR: Parenteau adds insurance with late goal

Boyes gave Toronto a 1-0 lead at 10:12 of the first period with Liles off for tripping. Ward stopped defenseman Morgan Rielly's shot from the blue line despite being screened by Colin Greening, but Boyes was able to knock in the rebound for his seventh goal.

Liles made amends for his penalty when he scored his sixth goal at 16:01 to tie it 1-1. Carolina center Eric Staal cleanly won a faceoff in the Toronto zone against center Peter Holland, drawing the puck back to Liles at the left point for a slap shot that beat Bernier.

Leivo restored Toronto's lead at 5:33 when he converted a PA Parenteau pass on a 2-on-1 for his fourth goal in his past four games.

Barkov scores twice in return, Panthers defeat Coyotes

Aleksander Barkov made an immediate impact in his return from an upper-body injury by scoring two goals to help the Florida Panthers hold off the Arizona Coyotes 3-2 at BB&T Center on Thursday.

Barkov's power-play goal midway through the second period broke a 1-1 tie, and he scored again four minutes into the third period. Barkov was injured on Feb. 8 against the Detroit Red Wings and missed the next six games.

"It's so boring when you're not playing,'' Barkov said, according to the Sun Sentinel. "The best thing in hockey is when you win the games and just the feeling after in the locker room."

Roberto Luongo made 22 saves and Vincent Trocheck scored for the Atlantic Division-leading Panthers (35-18-7), who lead the Tampa Bay Lightning and Boston Bruins by five points. Luongo's best save came when he got his pad on a point-blank shot by Antoine Vermette with 30 seconds remaining.

The Panthers finished 3-2-1 on a six-game homestand. They begin a five-game road trip at the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday.

"This was must-win for us, no question about it," forward Jaromir Jagr said, according to the Miami Herald. "We have a lot of tough teams coming up in a tight schedule. We have to keep winning because everyone else keep winning. That's the way it is."

Shane Doan and Oliver Ekman-Larsson had goals, and Louis Domingue finished with 22 saves for Arizona (27-28-6), which lost its fourth straight and is 0-3-0 on a five-game road trip that continues Saturday at the Philadelphia Flyers.

"We're not executing well enough, and that's with and without the puck … to allow us to generate more offense," Arizona coach Dave Tippett told the Coyotes website. "If we keep giving up three goals a night it's tough to win."

ST. LOUIS -- Henrik Lundqvist became the New York Rangers' all-time saves leader and first goalie in NHL history to record 30 wins in 10 of his first 11 seasons, and Chris Kreider scored the tie-breaking goal in the third period of a 2-1 victory against the St. Louis Blues at Scottrade Center on Thursday.

Lundqvist made 35 saves to give him 17,404, surpassing Mike Richter (17,379). Lundqvist also moved into third place in NHL history for seasons with 30-or-more wins with his 10th after defeating the Blues. Lundqvist also tied Tom Barrasso for 16th place with his 369th victory.

"You know the names I'm up there with and obviously it's a huge honor," Lundqvist said. "Growing up, those guys were guys I was watching and now I'm up there with wins. To me, it's just a sign of I've been given a chance for a lot of years. This organization, when I came, I've been lucky to play with a lot of good players and been able to have a competitive team every year. I'm really happy about that."

Kreider scored his 12th of the season from the slot at 4:18 of the third period off a backhand pass from Oscar Lindberg.

"It was a hard work, it was an effort play," Kreider said. "[Lindberg] had a guy on his back basically the entire way up the ice. He got dragged down and is still able to make the play."

The goal came after Lundqvist stopped Scottie Upshall's breakaway attempt and moments after Dmitrij Jaskin had a chance to give the Blues a lead. Lundqvist extended his right leg to make that save.

"I thought he was going to go butterfly on me and I tried to get it up above his pad on the glove side," Upshall said. "I knew [Ryan] McDonagh was coming down on me. He's a big goalie. He's big in his net, he makes key saves at key times and he made some good stops down the stretch.

"Those are plays in the game that are momentum-changers. For us, I think we carried most of the momentum in the second and in the third. That play ends up being the play of the game. Unfortunately, we're on the other side of that. It [stinks]; it's tough."

CHICAGO -- Calle Jarnkrok scored with 1:51 left in the third period to help the Nashville Predators defeat the Chicago Blackhawks 3-1 at United Center on Thursday.

Viktor Arvidsson scored in the second period for Nashville (30-21-11), and Miikka Salomaki scored into an empty net with 1:03 left.

Pekka Rinne made 38 saves for the Predators, who extended their Nashville-record road point streak to 10 games (8-0-2).

Brent Seabrook scored for Chicago, which lost its second straight game. Corey Crawford made 29 saves for the Blackhawks (38-20-5), who made a trade before the game to re-acquire forward Andrew Ladd from the Winnipeg Jets.

Nashville tied it 1-1 at 9:08 when Arvidsson tapped in a loose puck that bounced off the back boards and came out near the right post.

Scheifele powers Jets past Stars

 

Center's four-point game lifts Winnipeg in first game after Ladd trade

DALLAS -- Mark Scheifele had a goal and three assists, Joel Armia had two goals and an assist, and Michael Hutchinson made 27 saves to help the Winnipeg Jets to a 6-3 win against the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center on Thursday.

Blake Wheeler, Tobias Enstrom and Jacob Trouba each scored a goal for Winnipeg (26-30-4), which ended a four-game losing streak (0-3-1). Nikolaj Ehlers had two assists.

The Jets traded Andrew Ladd to the Chicago Blackhawks before the game. He had been their captain since 2010-11.

Jason Spezza scored two goals for Dallas (38-18-6), and Patrick Sharp had three assists. Tyler Seguin scored the other Stars goal.

Winnipeg led 3-0 after the first period. Wheeler and Enstrom scored 56 seconds apart to give the Jets a quick two-goal lead.

Wheeler scored with 4:57 left in the first period with a wrist shot over the glove of Stars goaltender Antti Niemi. Enstrom scored his second of the season by beating Niemi far post with a wrist shot from the left circle.

Armia made it 3-0 when he scored through Niemi's five-hole with three seconds remaining in the first period. There was some confusion about whether it was a goal because all time ran off the clock and the horn sounded, but after a quick video review, a goal was awarded and 2.8 seconds were put on the clock.

Kari Lehtonen replaced Niemi, who made five saves, to start the second period.

Spezza cut it to 3-1 when he scored off a rebound on a power play 1:59 into the second.

Seguin scored at 3:51 of the second to pull the Stars to within one. He beat Hutchinson to the far post after Sharp's slap shot deflected off Valeri Nichushkin's hand and landed at Seguin's skates.

Thomas Hickey scored 9:49 into the third period, and Jaroslav Halak made 31 saves for the Islanders (33-19-7), who have won three straight and four of five.

Jiri Hudler scored for the Flames (26-30-4), who have lost three straight and six of seven.

John Tavares spun off a check from Johnny Gaudreau in Calgary's end before skating in and finding Bailey with a backdoor pass he lifted over Flames goaltender Joni Ortio for the game-winner.

 

Hickey's game-tying goal NYI@CGY: Hickey backhands one past Ortio to tie it Hudler scored on Calgary's second shot of the game, completing a passing play with linemates Gaudreau and Sean Monahan. A pinch from Mark Giordano kept the puck in New York's zone, and Gaudreau dropped a pass to Monahan, who found Hudler with a cross-slot pass. Hudler outwaited Halak before lifting his 10th goal of the season to give Calgary a 1-0 lead at 4:16.

 

Gaudreau has an assist in six straight games.

Halak made 11 saves in the second period. He stopped Monahan's slap shot from the high slot after Gaudreau's stickhandling work at the top of the blue line at 13:11, and made back-to-back pad saves on Micheal Ferland and Sam Bennett from the slot a shift later.

VANCOUVER -- Rookie Jake Virtanen scored the game-winning goal on the power play with just more than nine minutes left in the Vancouver Canucks' come-from-behind 5-3 victory against the Ottawa Senators at Rogers Arena on Thursday.

Defenseman Matt Bartkowski scored his second goal of the night 4:01 into the third period to tie it 3-3.

Emerson Etem scored two goals, including into an empty net with 28.8 seconds remaining, and Ryan Miller made 27 saves for the Canucks (24-24-12), who have won two in a row after losing the previous four.

Bartkowski had an assist on Etem's first goal, giving the low-scoring defenseman his first three-point game in the NHL. His first goal came on a point shot that deflected off a Senators stick in the high slot and went past goalie Craig Anderson through a crowd. He beat Anderson cleanly from the left faceoff circle for his second of the night and fifth of the season.

Virtanen, who set up Bartkowski's second goal with a cross-ice pass, put the Canucks ahead when his cross-crease pass bounced back to him off intended target Bo Horvat, leaving the 18-year-old rookie with an empty net as Anderson went the other way.

Bobby Ryan, Mike Hoffman and Mark Stone scored for Ottawa (29-27-6), which had its win streak end at four games.

Anderson made 31 saves, and Dion Phaneuf and Jean-Gabriel Pageau each had two assists for the Senators, who wrap up a three-game Western Canada road trip Saturday against the Calgary Flames.

Ottawa forward Mika Zibanejad hit the post behind Miller with 3:35 left.

LOS ANGELES -- Dwight King scored with 5:50 remaining in the third period to give the Los Angeles Kings a 2-1 win against the Edmonton Oilers at Staples Center on Thursday.

King tipped Jeff Carter's shot from the left point and the puck went in far side past Edmonton goalie Cam Talbot. Carter scored in the earlier in the third and Jonathan Quick made 26 saves for the Kings (36-20-4), who moved four points ahead of the Anaheim Ducks in the Pacific Division.

It was the Kings' third straight win, each by a 2-1 score.

The Oilers (22-34-6) have lost a season-high six consecutive games.

 

Carter ties the game in the 3rd EDM@LAK: Carter jams in tip-in to even the score

Edmonton led 1-0 until Carter tapped in a loose puck that slipped under Talbot after Tyler Toffoli's backhand attempt at 5:27 of the third period. Carter had one goal in his previous 16 games.

Edmonton started the third with momentum carried from Zack Kassian's goal at 18:55 of the second period. Kassian faked a shot, moved in and snapped the puck past a kneeling defenseman Luke Schenn and Quick. Milan Lucic committed a turnover in the neutral zone to create the possession for Edmonton.

Quick kept the Kings in the game early with notable point blank second-period saves on Connor McDavid, on a backhand attempt and another while seated.

Zach Bogosian scored with 7:24 remaining in the third period to break a tie, and the Buffalo Sabres defeated the San Jose Sharks 3-1 at SAP Center on Friday.

Bogosian's slap shot deflected off San Jose forward Tomas Hertl and went past Martin Jones for his fourth goal of the season.

"Sometimes those ones go in," Bogosian said, according to The Associated Press. "The hockey gods, I guess."

Evander Kane scored into an empty net with 1:17 remaining for the Sabres (25-30-7), who have won five straight games playing at San Jose.

Backup goaltender Chad Johnson, playing for the first time since Feb. 12, made 24 saves, and Johan Larsson scored in the second period for Buffalo.

"It's an uneasy time right now," said Johnson, who has been the subject of rumors with the NHL Trade Deadline on Monday. "You kind of just want to get it over with, to be honest. It's a weird week. I just want to get it over with."

Defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic scored 1:28 into the game for San Jose (32-22-7), and Jones made 19 saves. San Jose lost in regulation for the third time in 30 games when it scored first (25-3-2).

"It was a tough game. You have to give them credit," Sharks coach Peter DeBoer said, according to CSN California. "They played a hard game, a really good road game."

The Sharks took a 1-0 lead when Vlasic beat Johnson for his eighth goal of the season. But San Jose was unable to add to its lead despite controlling play for most of the first 30 minutes.

"We came out with a great start but were unable to build on it," Sharks captain Joe Pavelski said, according to CSN California.

Larsson tied the game 1-1 at 13:38 of the second period when, after a Brian Gionta shot snuck though Jones, he dove and tapped it over the line for his third goal.

"We didn't sink our heads down, we didn't get down, and I think we could have against this team the way they're playing in this building," Sabres coach Dan Bylsma said, according to the AP. "We fight back and stay real patient in the game and go stride for stride with them. It showed a lot about our team."

Neither team was assessed a penalty in the game. It was the first game in Sharks history when no penalties were called, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

San Jose has had one power play in its past two games.

"We need to find a way to get inside to score or draw penalties," DeBoer said. "We're not doing that. We're not attacking, not creating enough."

The Sharks visit the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday. The Sabres have split the first two games of their California road trip, which ends against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.

ANAHEIM -- Rickard Rakell scored 1:24 into overtime to give the Anaheim Ducks a 2-1 victory against the Edmonton Oilers at Honda Center on Friday, extending their winning streak to a season-high seven games.

Rakell split two defenders and blew past a third on his way to the low slot, where he shot high on Oilers goalie Cam Talbot.

"Probably one of my better ones," Rakell said. "In overtime, winning the game. It was a good feeling."

Rakell has three goals and three assists in the past six games. He said he's become more comfortable in his top-six role, and his intensity on the ice has increased with his playing time.

"That was a pretty goal," said Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf, who had the secondary assist. "Those are the things that Ricky can do at a high level. He's being doing it a lot lately and it's been pretty to watch."

Rakell's teammates aren't the only ones who have taken notice.

"It's a good move," Oilers forward Benoit Pouliot said. "He crisscrossed and made a great play. He may have recognized a forward was skating backwards and he took advantage of it. A little bit better communication and we could have changed the outcome of that."

Edmonton (22-34-6) has lost six straight games. Coach Todd McLellan said though he was happy to come away with a point, he's looking for the Oilers to find ways to break through in close games.

"We're stepping into the ring against Muhammad Ali right now with some of these teams and we're able to stay in it until the late rounds," McLellan said. "That's not good enough. We've got to find ways to win. Just to hanging with teams isn't good enough, but we needed to re-establish the input part and I think we've done that to this point."

Getzlaf gave Anaheim a 1-0 lead 42 seconds into the third period with a power-play goal. He extended his point streak to 10 games, the longest active streak in the NHL and the longest streak for an Anaheim player since his 14-game streak from Nov. 15-Dec. 15, 2013.

The Ducks have scored a power-play goal in each of the past seven games.

Jordan Eberle tied it 1-1 71 seconds later with a shot from the wing. It was his 20th goal of the season.

The Ducks (33-19-8) outshot the Oilers 34-18.

"I thought we did a lot of good things," Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said. "We held them to under 20 shots, gave them six chances, and we had 34 shots. That team played really hard against us tonight, and I thought we matched them pretty good."

Anaheim has struggled in 3-on-3 play this season, now 2-5. Boudreau said the nature of the win makes Rakell's goal more unforgettable.

"I'm waiting to see it a few more times. It was pretty exciting," Boudreau said. "I think it was a 1-on-3, and for good measure he put it upstairs. It was a great move by him, but he's capable of doing that. It was our first real 3-on-3 win, so that made it nice as well."

Anaheim goalie Frederik Andersen made 17 saves and is 11-0-1 in his past 12 games.

Talbot made 32 saves; he hasn't won since Feb. 11 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

"We've become a pretty scrappy team," McLellan said. "I have no complaints about the work ethic or the input into the win. Obviously we'd like better results, we'd like to find a way to give our goaltender who played extremely well again tonight some run support."

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Matt Beleskey has endured a couple of scoring droughts this season. Now the goals are coming in waves.

Beleskey scored twice, Tuukka Rask made 39 saves and the Boston Bruins defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1 at PNC Arena on Friday.

Beleskey had a 13-game scoreless streak early in the season and a more recent stretch of 21 games in which he scored one goal. Now things are going the other way; he has five goals in Boston's past four games.

"It's always nice when they start coming like that," said Beleskey, who has 13 goals. "You just keep working hard and doing the same things and hopefully it's going to pay off. Right now it is."

The Bruins (34-22-6) have won two in a row and three of their past four.

Carolina (28-25-10) lost consecutive games in regulation for the first time since losing three in a row from Nov. 27 to Dec. 3.

The Bruins got an early jump on the Hurricanes with two goals in the first period.

Patrice Bergeron scored his 23rd of the season at 10:26 when he gathered a loose puck near the bottom of the right circle and chipped it over a sprawling Cam Ward (18 saves). The scoring chance was created when Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin tried to play the puck up the boards, but his pass deflected off Brett Connolly and toward the slot.

Just over two minutes later, Beleskey made it 2-0 on a strong individual effort. He chipped the puck off the boards past Hurricanes defenseman Michal Jordan at the Carolina blue line, gathered the puck and fired a shot inside the far post at 12:38.

"Pucks are starting to go in for him," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. 'He was working hard, he was finishing his checks, playing gritty. We're not disappointed in his game. It seems like he's starting to get rewarded now."

In the second period, the Bruins had long stretches of possession in the offensive zone, but they were outshot by the Hurricanes 10-6.

The Hurricanes cut Boston's lead to 2-1 on a power-play goal by rookie defenseman Noah Hanifin at 3:00 of the third period. Hanifin's slap shot went wide of the left post, but the puck rebounded off the end boards, hit the stick of Boston's Kevan Miller and deflected off Rask's skate into the net.

But Beleskey restored Boston's two-goal lead when he scored his second of the night, a wrist shot from the low slot at 6:24. Linemate Ryan Spooner forced a turnover behind the Carolina goal and slipped a quick pass to Beleskey.

"We talked about a play off the draw," said Beleskey, who scored 22 goals for the Anaheim Ducks last season. "I just called for it. He's a great passer, he's got great vision. He just laid it in there for me."

Rask was at his best in the third period when the Bruins had to k*ll two penalties. On Carolina's second power play, he stopped Kris Versteeg from in close on consecutive shots, extending his pad to make the first save, then fending off Versteeg's backhand bid on the rebound.

"We probably blew coverage there, forgot the guy in the slot," said Rask, who improved to 7-3-1 against Carolina. "I saw a lot of the shots. There were a couple I didn't see on the power play, but for the most part I saw them all."

The Hurricanes pulled Ward for the extra attacker with 2:31 remaining, and Rask was tested once more, stopping Victor Rask's wrist shot from the slot with his blocker. Brad Marchand then took the heat off his goaltender when he scored into an empty net with 14 seconds remaining.

 

Despite the volume of shots, Rask was comfortable with the way the Bruins played in front of him.

"We're not breaking down as bad as we used to," Rask said. "We're more compact and calm out there, and that's helping me see the puck and control the puck. That's why we're not getting scored on that much."

The Hurricanes were playing their third game in four nights, including a 3-1 loss at the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday.

"We skated tonight, so that was a good sign," coach Bill Peters said. "We haven't skated in our last two games prior to tonight. So on a back-to-back with some travel, somehow we found a way to get some energy and skate. That was a positive, for sure."

Carolina played without forwards Andrej Nestrasil and Jay McClement, who were injured in the loss at Toronto. Defenseman Justin Faulk sat out for the second straight games after aggravating a lower-body injury.

"We were able to generate a lot of chances, a lot of zone time," defenseman Ron Hainsey said. "But you had to beat the goalie from the outside. That's the way they play. They're smart. We just weren't able to do it after falling behind."

NEWARK, N.J. -- Tampa Bay Lightning captain Steven Stamkos is feeling as confident as he has all season.

He extended his goal streak to five games Friday to help the Lightning win their fifth straight, a 4-0 victory against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center.

"When you feel good with the puck, you're legs are moving, and you're willing to make some plays that you might not try when things aren't going well," Stamkos said. "I've gotten more goals in front of the net (lately). I've tried to make a conscious effort of going there. I always try to be a threat no matter where I am on the ice and I've definitely been getting rewarded."

Since returning to center in a 4-2 loss at the San Jose Sharks on Feb. 16, Stamkos has five goals and two assists in six games. He did not have a point against the Sharks, but has scored in every game since, coincidentally after general manager Steve Yzerman said Stamkos would not be dealt prior to the NHL Trade Deadline, which is Monday.

Tampa Bay, which went 1-4-0 from Feb. 8-16, has outscored the opposition 20-10 during its winning streak.

Ben Bishop made 21 saves for his third shutout of the season, his first since a 21-save, 4-0 win at the Colorado Avalanche on Jan. 12. Alex Killorn, Ondrej Palat and Matt Carle scored, and Ryan Callahan had two assists for the Lightning (35-22-4).

"It's awesome to see [stamkos] on his game, he's a top scorer in the League, so when he gets going he's the best player on the ice and it's fun to watch," Palat said.

Bishop said the Lightning have some work to do before they are playing near the level they were prior to the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Lightning reached the Stanley Cup Final before losing to the Chicago Blackhawks in six games.

"I think we're getting there and I think we're playing better hockey," Bishop said. "We were playing solid at the end of last year and I think we can still take another step forward, but it's a process. We'll take this in stride and keep moving forward. This is a different year and different team."

Cory Schneider made 32 saves for the Devils (30-26-7), allowing at least three goals for the fourth time in the past six games (1-5-0).

 

Killorn's goal puts Lightning up TBL@NJD: Killorn scores on rebound to open scoring

"It has to be better; we have 19 games to make the playoffs," Schneider said.

New Jersey lost 6-1 at the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday when Schneider was pulled after allowing three goals on 11 shots in the first period.

"By no means is this the end of our season," Devils forward Kyle Palmieri said. "They have some skill players over there and they made some plays. I don't think we competed hard enough and they capitalized on some of our errors. We let [schneider] down."

Killorn gave the Lightning a 1-0 lead at 15:36 of the first period. Stamkos circled in the slot and took a shot that Schneider stopped with his right pad. Killorn got to the rebound and scored his 11th of the season inside the left post while tumbling to the ice.

"Obviously (linemates) Killorn and Callahan are playing great too," Stamkos said. "We had a lot of possession time [Friday], and when you have the puck you feel more comfortable in your game. We've been on a good streak, and hopefully we can continue that.

"We knew the Devils were going to be a desperate hockey team, so it was a solid all-around effort from Bishop on out. We played the right way and got rewarded; it was fun to be in that game."

The most impressive save by Bishop came 9:32 into the second period, when he went down at the left post and stacked the pads to deny Tyler Kennedy.

"[Valtteri Filppula] and me were dancing there for a bit and I just tried not to take my eye off the puck," Bishop said. "I guess [Filppula] was trying not to move either, and sometimes you have to improvise and I did with the stacked pads."

The Lightning took a 2-0 lead at 13:02 when Palat scored his seventh of the season from the slot. Devils forwards Adam Henrique and Lee Stempniak bumped into each other, and Tyler Johnson picked up the loose puck behind the net before quickly centering to Palat.

"We knew they played [Thursday] and we wanted to jump on them and play a complete 60-minute game," Palat said. "All four lines were rolling and that was a key, and we were creating chances. I think we've been playing well. We've been playing good defense; that's the key."

Stamkos made it 3-0 when he deflected a shot by defenseman Anton Stralman from the right point at 18:54. His 27th goal came in his 12th multipoint game of the season.

"I've just tried to focus on my game and realize I had more to give, and I've been getting confidence," Stamkos said. "I know the type of player I want to be, and the type of leader I want to be."

Carle scored his second of the season 11:12 into the third period for a 4-0 lead. Tampa Bay outshot New Jersey 36-21.

The Devils were without center Jacob Josefson, who became ill prior to the game. Forward Bobby Farnham played after sitting the three previous games as a healthy scratch. Sergey Kalinin took Josefson's spot as third-line center between Tuomo Ruutu and Kennedy.
