Reports has it that Djimon Hounsou's will portray Thulsa Doom from Conan the Barbarian. In the comics, Thulsa was the main antagonist for Kull the Conqueror, then became Conan's foe. Over the years he warms to the company of six similar souls, their only bond being their love of fighting and presence of death. When the King of Thrace hires these mercenaries to train his men to become the greatest army of all time, it is time for this bunch of lost souls to finally have their eyes opened to how far they have fallen.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (remake):

New Line has taken a step forward in bringing Freddy back to the big screen. The Warner Bros. division has hired veteran scribe Wesley Strick to pen the relaunch of the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" series, the franchise that helped establish New Line into a movie player in the mid-1980s. The original "Nightmare" was written and directed by Wes Craven and released in 1984. It created one of the most popular villains in screen history, Freddy Krueger, played by Robert Englund, and its runaway success spawned a slew of sequels.

The films' premise centered on Krueger, a serial child killer murdered who returns with a burned face and razor glove to terrorize teens in their dreams. The new project will keep the high school setting and delve deeper in the psychology of nightmares and Krueger himself. The plan is to have a dark tone. The company hopes to have the movie ready for the 25th anniversary of the original.

The movie rights to Red 5 Comics' horror/action title ZMDs: Zombies of Mass Destruction have been snatched up by Hollywood production company Benderspink. The comic, from writer-producer Kevin Grevioux (Underworld), tells the story of a government weapons program that drops zombies, designed to be photosensitive and dissolve by a set time, into war zones at night to destroy the enemy population. Based on the long running and highly successful Namco video game franchise of the same name, TEKKEN is a high-octane, action packed thriller written for the screen by Alan McElroy (Spawn, The Marine) and to be directed by Dwight Little (Anacondas, Murder at 1600) with fight choreography tentatively by Dion Lam (Spider-Man 2, Doom, Red Cliff)

Set in 2039, the film promises non-stop high flying action as the greatest fighters from around the world come to compete in the last and greatest sporting event of all time, the Fist Tournament. After World Wars destroy much of civilization as we know it, the remaining territories are no longer run by governments, but by corporations the mightiest of which is Tekken. In order to keep the masses down, Tekken sponsors the Iron Fist Tournament in which fighters compete to the death for ultimate glory and receive a lifetime of stardom and wealth.

We are introduced to this violent world through the eyes of Jin Kazama, a street fighter that enters the tournament in order to avenge the death of his mother that he blames upon Tekken's powerful and controlling Chairman, Heihachi Mishima. He knows that the only way to get close enough to Mishima to k*ll him is to win the tournament. With the help of Lucas, an ageing Iron Fist Champion and fight trainer, Jin makes his way through the tournament, but in doing so, he begins to uncover his own past and inner demons as well as exposing a dark underbelly to Tekken that threatens the very existence of humanity.

Tyrese Gibson talks about his new movies from Death Race to Transformers 2.

"I like doing one-offs, but I'm more excited about franchises. We're doing Transformers 2 right now. It's crazier, it's angrier, it's bigger explosions, more robots."

"Angrier" is certainly an intriguing way to describe the big budget sequel. We asked Gibson to expand on that: "The conflict between the robots and the humans [is more angry]," Gibson adds. "The stakes have been brought up to a whole nother level. The conflicts between the humans and the Decepticons and then the conflict between the Autobots and the Decepticons. It's just more angry."

"Michael Bay is just in rare form right now."

Paramount is already hyping the fact that Transformers 2 will be bigger with more robots, but Tyrese is careful not to reveal too much. "More robots. I'm not saying bigger. You're trying to get me to give up the size." (Laughs)

What Gibson will say is that his character's role is expanded this time around. "I am at the top of my class. I am the highest-ranking officer of my class. So it's exciting. I can just say this. Michael Bay is definitely giving Epps a lot of love in this one. It's going to be special. I've been interacting with robots. Most of the conversation with robots [in the first film] was with Shia's character. I've had a few conversations [in the second film] with robots. It's real interesting."

Gibson took a quick break from shooting in order to attend the Death Race junket at Comic-Con, but he's heading right back to the shoot after. "We rolling. I just did a night shoot. That's why I was so tired yesterday because we shot until about 6:30 in the morning. We're doing the night thing right now and then we're going back to Alamogordo, [New Mexico] white sands to do some more of that rock star stuff out there. The stakes is just a thousand times higher. Crazy."

Production on Transformers 2 is close to the midway point and Gibson says there is plenty of big action left to be filmed. "We've got about two and a half more months of filming. We've got to go overseas. "I'm hearing Jordan and a few other locations. It's full-throttle."

Brad Pitt is set to star as Lieut. Aldo Raine in Quentin Tarantino’s much anticipated WWII epic INGLORIOUS BASTARDS.

Set in World War 2, Tarantino's story revolves around group of soldiers on their way to be executed, only they get the chance for a reprieval. He describes them as "Not your normal hero types that are thrown into a big deal in World War II." This is the only information he will release at present.

Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time

The Mike Newell-directed video game adaptation stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Alfred Molina and Ben Kingsley. Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

Venom:

Sony Pictures is moving forward with "Venom," a potential "Spider-Man" spinoff based on the bad guy seen in "Spider-Man 3". Jacob Estes ("Mean Creek") was attached to pen a script draft several years ago, but the studio is now considering going in a different direction and is seeking writers for a new draft. It's also unlikely that Topher Grace will return to play the creature. As the beastie comes from a parasite, it's likely the substance will attach itself to a different character in the film. Sony is still developing a fourth "Spider-Man" film for release in 2011.

Austin Powers 4:

Myers is currently scripting Austin Powers 4 with Mike McCullers, his co-writer on that last two Powers sequels. The site claims the story "will focus on Austin's arch-villain Dr. Evil, o was based on Blofeld of the Bond films. But what hasn't been known is that the AP4 plot is really about Dr. Evil and his son (introduced already as Scott Evil, played by Seth Green)."

Cowboy Bebop: Live Action

Fox is developing a live-action Cowboy Bebop movie based on the popular anime series. Remarkably, the project still isn't officially announced and Fox is still keeping it under wraps and will most likely be out by 2010. Rumor has it that Keanu Reeves has been attached as the lead character Spike for over eight months now and is still set for the role. Unfortunately there isn't a writer or director attached yet.

The script, penned by Oscar winner William Monahan (The Departed), follows a Boston cop (Gibson) investigating the murder of his activist daughter (to be played by Serbian-born Aussie actress Bojana Novakovic).

Scared Straight:

Legendary genre helmer John Carpenter will direct "Scared Straight" for Nu Image/Millennium Films. The story follows group of juvenile delinquents are trapped inside a prison as part of the "Scared Straight" program when a large-scale riot breaks out, and it is up to inmate Karl Rix to save the kids. Nicolas Cage will play Rix and shoting begins in the Fall. The project was previously set up at New Line Cinema with Rob Cohen attached to direct.

To recuperate, he is taken to a secluded nursing home where the elderly residents appear to be suffering from delusions. But after witnessing a violent attack, he soon realizes that the screams behind the walls are caused by more than hallucinations, and the residents are being preyed upon by twisted, monstrous nightmares that lurk within the home itself.
