Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Check out the website of graphic designer Tim Flattery to see some cool concept art for the new movie....

http://timflattery.com/transformers/popup.html

Elfquest:

Wendy and Richard Pini's cult comic "Elfquest" is set to become a Warners Bros. Pictures feature film after several failed attempts. The story follows a tribe of elves known as the Wolfriders in their attempts to survive and link with other dispersed elves on an Earth-like planet with two moons while on the lookout for tribes of humans and trolls, both of which acted as allies and enemies. The series attracted a more mature audience as it went along, with scenes of battles and sexuality that were intense for that time.

Robocop (remake):

Rumor has it that Darren Aronofsky has had discussions about directing MGM's remake of Robocop.

The Surrogates

The flick - based on Robert Venditti's graphic novel - is being directed by Jonathan Mostow (TERMINATOR 3) and stars Willis, Ving Rhames, Radha Mitchell, and Rosamund Pike. Set in a futuristic world where humans live in isolation and interact through surrogate robots, a cop (Bruce Willis) is forced to leave his home for the first time in years in order to investigate the murders of others’ surrogates.

Planet 51:

Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Groups has picked up U.S. distribution rights to the $50 million CG-animated family film "Planet 51". The comedic alien adventure follows an Earth astronaut (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) who lands on Planet 51, thinking he's first to set foot on it only to discover "little green people" who live in a white picket-fence community reminiscent of 1950s America. Their only fear is being overrun by alien invaders like the astronaut. Jessica Biel, Gary Oldman, Justin Long, John Cleese and Seann William Scott also have voice roles.

Red Dawn (remake):

Screenwriter Carl Ellsworth ("Red Eye," "Disturbia") has been hired to pen MGM's remake of the 1984 homeland invasion thriller "Red Dawn". The John Milius-directed original dealt with a World War III invasion of America by the Soviets and Cubans, and followed a group of Midwestern teenagers who take on their high school mascot name -- "Wolverines!" -- as a rallying cry of resistance. The new version will updated to post-9/11 contemporary times. "Bourne Ultimatum" and "Quantum of Solace" second unit director Dan Bradle will helm the new version which was first announced at Cannes in May.

Inglorious Bastards:

It looks like Quentin Tarantino's "Inglorious Bastards" is finally moving ahead after all at The Weinstein Company. The long-gestating World War II action tale follows a group of Dirty Dozen-like group of soldiers behind enemy lines. The Weinsteins will co-finance the film, distribute it domestically and oversee production and worldwide marketing. Shooting will take place in Europe starting in October and will be put through an accelerated production schedule to be finished in time for next May's Cannes Film Festival. Rumor has it that Quentin Tarantino is talking to Brad Pitt to star in the movie.

Run for Her Life:

Sam Shepard, Rosanna Arquette, Jordi Molla and French star Vincent Perez are joining Dermot Mulroney and Diane Kruger in the organ transplant thriller "Run for Her Life". Shepard plays a district attorney whose illegal heart transplant persuades Mulroney and Kruger's characters to seek one for their daughter. Arquette plays a pediatrician they consult with, and Perez plays a doctor whose practice isn't quite what it seems to be. Molla plays a corrupt police officer.

Simon Says:

Five college friends choose to spend their vacation debauching at the riverside. They find the perfect place to camp out, but end up crossing paths with twin brothers, Simon and Stanley. The twins then begins to knock off the campers in some extremely creative (and extremely gruesome) ways.

Iron Man 2:

The saga over whether Jon Favreau will direct Iron Man 2 has been rumbling on almost since the movie made a packet on its opening weekend.According to rumors, they now reached a deal for Favreau to helm the sequel, after Marvel offered him a "definitely" richer offer.

Sherlock:

Robert Downey Jr. is set to star in "Sherlock Holmes," the drama that Guy Ritchie will direct for Warner Bros. Downey committed to the pic, which begins shooting in October, after Ritchie turned in a polish of the latest version of the script, written by Anthony Peckham. Downey emerged as an action star with "Iron Man" and "Sherlock Holmes" also will take advantage of his physical skills as the character displays brawn as well as brains. The basis for the film is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic tales, but also the comicbook "Sherlock Holmes."

Max Payne:

Based on the legendary, hard-hitting interactive video game, "Max Payne" tells the story of a maverick cop determined to track down those responsible for the brutal murder of his family and partner. Hell Ride:

"Hell Ride" is a raucous throwback to the days of the Sergio Leone spaghetti western, with a heaping helping of testosterone-fueled chopper action thrown into the mix. Writer/director Larry Bishop takes on a third role as Pistolero, head honcho of the Victors, a group of badass bikers who are out to avenge the murder of one of their members at the hands of the 666ers, a rival gang whose actions live up to their hellish moniker. Along with his cohorts, the Gent (deviously portrayed by Michael Madsen) and the mysterious Comanche (Eric Balfour), Pistolero aims to take down the Deuce and Billy Wings, menacing leaders of the 666ers, but a mutiny looms on the horizon when his commitment to profit is questioned by a few of his fellow Victors. An even larger story unravels when previously unknown information about Comanche resurrects ghosts from Pistolero's past.

DC Movies:

Green Lantern is in development, as well as The Flash. Wonder Woman seems to have stalled. We're hoping to soon hear more on the status of Green Arrow/Super Max. And, of course, there's the troubled Justice League waiting in the wings. Furthermore, Shazam! is supposedly coming our way courtesy of Get Smart's Peter Segal. Teen Titans has been announced, but has gone mostly silent since last year. Remember Plastic Man? Aquaman is highly-anticipated, but it doesn't seem to be in active development.

Max Payne:

Wahlberg will play the titular cop who is haunted by the tragic loss of his family and has little regard for rules as he investigates a series of mysterious murders. He finds himself up against an adversary bent on destroying Max and the streets he protects. Based on the popular video game from Rockstar Games.

Iron Man 2:

Justin Theroux's work as a screenwriter is limited, limited to Tropic Thunder and nothing more. Now, he has been handed the keys to the 2010 castle as Paramount has hired him to write Iron Man 2, a follow-up to this year's highest grossing film. Theroux is best known as an actor in such films as Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, Miami Vice, the HBO mini-series "John Adams" as John Hancock and he will also have a small part in Tropic Thunder. Last year he directed Mandy Moore and Billy Crudup in Dedication, marking his feature film directing debut just as Tropic Thunder marked his scripting debut.

Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. are both back for the sequel as director and star respectively. There is no word on plot or what direction the film will be heading.

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins

But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.

The original, directed by Fred Dekker and co-penned by Shane Black, followed a group of kids hunting down Dracula and his minions who are attempting to take over the world. Cohen himself executive produced the project.

Chopper Zombie:

Thomas Beers, Original Prods., and comicbook publisher Devil's Due are moving forward with Chopper Zombie, about a motorcycle builder who refuses to sell his formula for a new superfuel to a dangerous corporation. When a team of thugs drowns him in his own toxic creation, he rises from the dead with a score to settle. Todd Livingston ("The Black Forest," "The Wicked West") will pen the graphic novel, with Scott Keating ("Death and the Man Who Could Not Die," "Elk's Run") handling the art.

Luke Goss spoke to MTV recently about the upcoming TEKKEN movie that pretty much no one is interested in hearing about. Still, I'll bite, since I used to play the game obsessively, and much like STREET FIGHTER: THE LEGEND OF CHUN LI, have at least some vested interest in how it turns out.

“The same producers were very adamant to make sure that the characters that were in the game translated quite literally to the movie — visually and everything... Their fight styles were studied and the way they looked, the producers wanted people that looked similar to the actual characters in the game. They understood that genre fans and game fans would want that. I think they did a good job.”

Megan Fox spoke to IGN recently and revealed that TRANSFORMERS 2 will actually have almost twice the budget that the first film had. I don't know how much exactly was spent making the first one, but conservatives estimates have the figure between $50 million, and a squillion dollars. She also speaks a little bit about her character:

"It's two years later, so when it comes out it will be present day. Shia and I have been dating for two years, so it's kind of like old news. There's no big love scenes or anything like that – you kind of get into the couple bickering now. That stage, like the old married couple. That's all I can say!"

The Hobbit:

After months of speculation, the cinematic legend that is Sir Ian McKellen has confirmed that he is indeed preparing to dust off his grey wizard robes and cultivate himself a long, flowing beard to play Gandalf in Guillermo Del Toro’s adaptation of The Hobbit.

Conan the Barbarian:

Reports has it that Djimon Hounsou's will portray Thulsa Doom from Conan the Barbarian. Originally played by James Earl Jones, Thulsa Doom was the badass sorcerer who could change into a giant snake and pimp out orgies in his cave of awesome. (He actually seemed more like Conan villain Thoth-Amon than Thulsa Doom) Conan managed to break up all of those parties and enact revenge on Thulsa killing his parents right before his eyes when he was a lad, then enslaving him to a life of hard labor. In the comics, Thulsa was the main antagonist for Kull the Conqueror, then became Conan's foe. Djimon has partnered with Dynamite Entertainment to star in an origin story about how the man became known as a cruel overlord.

Hercules: The Thracian Wars

Peter Berg will produce and direct Hercules: The Thracian Wars for Universal.Ryan Condal will write the script, based on a five-issue comicbook series by Steve Moore that debuted in May. The story follows Hercules, the powerful son of Zeus who, after the loss of his family, turns his back on the gods and finds his only solace in bloody battle. Over the years he warms to the company of six similar souls, their only bond being their love of fighting and presence of death. When the King of Thrace hires these mercenaries to train his men to become the greatest army of all time, it is time for this bunch of lost souls to finally have their eyes opened to how far they have fallen.

Witchblade:

'Battlestar Galactica' director Michael Rymer has stepped into the director's seat for the upcoming comic book adaptation WITCHBLADE. The fantasy involves a jewel-encrusted gauntlet that bestows extraordinary powers upon the possessor, one chosen female from each generation.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (remake):

New Line has taken a step forward in bringing Freddy back to the big screen. The Warner Bros. division has hired veteran scribe Wesley Strick to pen the relaunch of the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" series, the franchise that helped establish New Line into a movie player in the mid-1980s. The original "Nightmare" was written and directed by Wes Craven and released in 1984. It created one of the most popular villains in screen history, Freddy Krueger, played by Robert Englund, and its runaway success spawned a slew of sequels.

The films' premise centered on Krueger, a serial child killer murdered who returns with a burned face and razor glove to terrorize teens in their dreams. The new project will keep the high school setting and delve deeper in the psychology of nightmares and Krueger himself. The plan is to have a dark tone. The company hopes to have the movie ready for the 25th anniversary of the original.

Night of the Demons (remake):

Bobbi Sue Luthor, Jonathan Beach and Michael Copon have all joined the Adam Gierasch-directed flick, which already has the hottie trifecta of Diora Baird, Shannon Elizabeth and Monica Keena in its cast.

ZMDs: Zombies of Mass Destruction

The movie rights to Red 5 Comics' horror/action title ZMDs: Zombies of Mass Destruction have been snatched up by Hollywood production company Benderspink. The comic, from writer-producer Kevin Grevioux (Underworld), tells the story of a government weapons program that drops zombies, designed to be photosensitive and dissolve by a set time, into war zones at night to destroy the enemy population. But after one fails to self-destruct in the Middle East, a team of elite soldiers must enter hostile territory to stop a growing zombie army.

Hairspray 2:

John Waters will write a treatment for a sequel to last year's hit musical feature "Hairspray" for New Line. The aim is to pick up the Baltimore saga of the Turnblad family after the resolution of the first film set in 1962. Director/choreographer Adam Shankman, producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, and Tony-winning songwriters Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman will all return in the same capacities. No cast has been set and none of the stars of the first such as John Travolta, Christopher Walken, Zac Efron, Queen Latifah and Michelle Pfeiffer had sequel options.
