lomex32
Ahh History has it that conquest does not end in one place :-) UNLESS opposed by an equal or stronger force Seaward expansion to keep the USN's 7th Fleet out when they finally decide to get Taiwan... Quote Link to comment
heatseeker0714
Ahh History has it that conquest does not end in one place :-) UNLESS opposed by an equal or stronger force Yup... but you gotta understand them GREEDY @SSH0LES mindset... For them ChiComs, Taiwan is a personal issue... They're the last frontier that they haven't been able to get back... They got back Hong Kong from the Brits in 1997 and Macau from the Portuguese a few years later... Getting Taiwan back would be their Coup de Grace... After they get Taiwan back, well.... -XIII-
Seaward expansion to keep the USN's 7th Fleet out when they finally decide to get Taiwan... I don't think so. Land-based missile and air forces are quite enough to keep the USN away from Taiwan (provided you have enough of those). China just wants those ships so they'd have experience building them. It's not easy building a carrier (much less a competent one). Who knows? Maybe one day, China might have a blue-water navy of it's own. Quote Link to comment
jetrink
'China is a sickly, sleeping giant. Let her sleep and forwith not wake. Because when she awakes the world will tremble.' - Napoleon Bonaparte . This quote from Napoleon has been the subject of great debate for two centuries now. Many are questioning if it shouldbe even attributed to him. But it was uttered by someone early in the 19th century. Quo vadis in 21st century? Does the world need a force to put again the awoken giant to sleep ? Quote Link to comment

Missiles and aircraft when under maintenance are just sitting on the tarmacs and in their silos. Ships and subs can be replenished out at sea and while doing so, significantly extends the area you can put under surveillance and gives you a lot more warning time before the opfor arrives. Ships at sea are only limited by the fuel, weapons and food they can carry and the occasional long term maintenance every couple of years but they can be at a particular area for days, weeks even. At most, aircraft in the PRC inventory can only stay up at 8 hours max in a given area. the farther they are from their bases, the less patrol time they have on a particular spot. One perfect example of them ChiComs practicing said art of maintaining ships at a particular area for quite some time on a combat footing far from any ChiCom naval base is their contribution to the anti-piracy effort off the coast of Somalia. Since 2008 or 2009, they have maintained a minimum of 2 warships and 1 replenishment ship in the area. Know what a former PACOM Commander once said??? "We aren't threatened by the PRC's Aircraft and Missiles, for all we know, except for the first few batches they bought from the Russians, the rest are Russian knock-offs. What we're concerned about are their Kilo Class Subs and Sovremenny Class Destroyers they got from the Russkies." Edited May 4, 2012 by heatseeker0714 Quote Link to comment

Alam nyo masakit for the Decent AFP personnel,eh yung misconception ng mga tao na kung walang corruption sa AFP eh ang dami na nating fighter jets, submarines etc etc... Do the math. Look at the previous AFP budgets. Kahit pagsama-samahin nyo pa nawalang pera due to military corruption during the past 10 years, it's not enough to buy 1 F-16 fighter jet, let alone 1 submarine. Akala nyo ba ganon kalaki budget ng AFP?????? Bago sana tayo gumawa ng motherhood statements na wala naman ding maitutulong sa AFP as an organization and the morale of the majority of AFP personnel who are not corrupt, eh mag-isip isip muna tayo. Sabi nga nila, "Talk is CHEAP." Quote Link to comment
