some of the local pre-owned watch dealers kasi priced their watches somewhat off from what the rest of the world consider fair market value, but most of us have to ability to go and buy things abroad, or buy it through ebay, kaya some of those watches at the local stores take a long time to sell and i see some of the watches there forever. if u want, if u tell me the make-and-model and approximate year, i can check ebay for u and let u know. then u will be able to figure out if the price is worthwhile for u to try and sell or if u should just keep it because you dont care for the price it is likely to fetching.

 

as for other options for selling, u can sell it to one of the used watch dealers ( they advertise about buying watches in buy-and-sell), u can put it on consignment at secondo ( they take 10% of the sale price which u dictate), u can try to sell it on ebay or bidshot online, or u can maybe ask one of the local ebay watch-sellers to try and sell for u. i'm sure atong or  bonito can hook u up to local dealers.

at secondo, look for virgie, most of their watches there are consigned and they take a 10% cut on the selling price, plus they give watches without the boxes. im not sure if they sell them abroad where it fetches a higher price.

 

i dont suggest dealing with local dealers if you are not prepared to have the price slashed down to a third of the original price. sold a 2-year old tag for half the price to a dealer.

 

as for ebay, their target market is mostly the foreign market where it fetches a higher price. these guys are sharks like used car dealers. most ebayers are also bidshot people when it comes to watches. they source from casinos, private collectors, local sources like bidshot and buyandsell. the philippine ebay watch community consists of less than 5 active sellers. forget bidding, as they tend to cancel auctions if the price doesnt reach their target. might as well transact directly. and beware of fakes. sellers with pre-owned original watches are authentic_time, we_sell_time, only_real_watches. for bnew watches, you might want to try preppyboy

thanks also. re the ap, technically it's mine but my dad really own's it. he loves watches, he collects and has all kinds, from rolex's to cartier's to pateck's. lucky for us, once we "borrow" or ask a watch from him, it is up to us (me and my brothers) if we return it or not. most of the time, we don't. he really doesn't look for them, he knows his watches are with us kids. the ap has been with me for the past 2 years.

WRONG!!!!! what you quoted for your AP would be its price maybe 2 to 3 years ago... i was quoted for a stainless steel chrono at the price of the gold rolex you mentioned above, just this weekend. if your AP has no complications, it still must be in the tune of the gold rolex.

 

Now you have any inkling of the prices, do not ever make the mistake of neglecting your AP or in the event your father lends you his Patek.

 

Enjoy them... then like what your father is doing now... pass it to your son and your son's sons....

i bought a new watch to add to my collection....the Marc Ecko "The General Mesh" watch with round divers face with the bling-bling on the outer rim..cost me $400 aud roughly 16800 pesos..not bad cheapest on my collection but i wish the bling-bling was real diamonds...well cant have em all

its quite different when you're a celebrity. usual protocol doesnt seem to have any influence. but imagine just anyone regular afro-american not named dennis rodman wearing a fur coat and dyeing his hair red; people would stare down 2 blocks along the way .

i dunno if its a quartz watch but i was surprised to see the marc ecko watch a hiphop brand on a watch shop here in australia where they sell nothing but the best watches and i must remind you the 400 dollar marc ecko watch was the cheapest in the store, a few block downs they had the normal watch store where they sold dkny, desiel, fossil, fcuk, guess...

got my datejust. charged around 9k for dial change and around 1.5k for the hands. date wheel was 700 pesos. service which included buffing around 8k.

yes, luxury leather stuff as well. i have lifted an article on montblanc (mostly about the history and trends of the fountain pen) from Watch International, a subscription based publication of IWC. This article may be found in the Pens thread under the chapter on Lifestyles.
