ATONG ANG
have two watches I NEVER have used yet though, (it's in a "very safe place"), both given to me by my grandfather when he passed away; a Breguet Classique and a Patek Calatrava. my grandpop died when i was 4. i would rather have him back have whatever things he left, even if it were a patek perp calendar Edited August 5, 2004 by ATONG ANG Quote Link to comment
wari_aktiv
Atong Ang: Sorry to hear that man, but hey, I get you completely.... Hell, I'm in my twenties, and my lolo died just a few years ago, but I'd give anything to have him back... :cry:Â On a lighter note, my grandad was the one who actually taught me how to appreciate watches... Â If I remember right, among his whole collection, his favorite pa was a graphite Seiko Kinetic given to him by his lawyer friends... He said he loved it because he didn't have to worry if it was properly wound or not... He always said it gave him one thing less to think about. Â Â Vaya con dios granpere. Quote Link to comment

pokpok
As with some on this tread I have a major watch fetish! Currently wearing Rolex Datejust black dial white gold bezel. Circa 1983. Recently got it serviced  Others I own: Rolex Datejust White dial Roman numerals. 1998Baume & Mercier Classima Automatic ChronographTag Heuer Prof 2 toneTag Heuer Chronograph automatic (Vintage)Oris Classic rectangular Day (My most recent buy - 2004)Gucci 3000MRado Voyager vintageCaravelle 60's Swiss made by Bulova I also have a Tiger (Woods) Tudor, white dial, green circles on the subdials, solid 18k gold bezel, green sharkskin bracelet with deployment buckle that I am willing to sell. Complete with all the papers and boxes. I bought it at the Mall of America in Minnesota (Goodman Jewelers) for $2800 in 1999. Mint condition used about 5 times.  Selling because the watch is massive! Identical to a Rolex Daytona. Even has the old Daytona movement when Rolex was still outsourcing the movement for the Daytona. Will consider trades, not for another watch, unless you have a Rolex Explorer II which is my next buy or an IWC chrono. Then let's talk. I enjoy my Rolex Datejust because it is a workhorse timepiece. I have done everything wearing this watch! With the proper maintenance, it should last a few lifetimes. Rolex are meant to be worn. How many people do you know have bought an expensive watch then are hesistant to wear it everyday because "baka magasgas". Plus, it is the only watch I know that appreciates like it does. Hold on to it long enough, you'll get how much you paid for it and then some.  Yes, some models can be too much in your face. But it's all relative. Rolex is middle of the road as far as price for a fine swiss watch unless it's a President Platinum. But there are so many others that are more expensive. Rolex is just the most recognizable name. Rolex is just the most recognizable name. somehow rolexes have a close relation to bank safety deposit boxes in this country. you're right there, why buy a watch that you don't use. the oyster case was built for toughness and should be used for that.  on watch value appreciation, i think it really appreciates as time value of money dictates. it is for the value appreciation that people fear of the watch being banged up.  tudor chrono is a beauty. if it just didn't have the tiger inscription on the dial, it would be perfect. most stores in manila are still selling the tiger version. i've seen some recent models that have the 3 subdials at 3, 6 and 9 o' clock instead of 12, 6, 9. the date is above the tudor logo at 12 o' clock. is it true that it already uses in-house movements? saw a similar model to your green leathered one in ebay before but didn't take a second look as i'm sometimes allergic to leather straps. would you state your selling price for the benefit of those interested? ATONG ANG
Any feedback about the Omega Speedmaster Reduced? I was wondering Y it is the cheapest among all speedmaster line.... How much is pre-owned price... I saw one about 43T normally, pre-owned omegas have a resale value of around 40-50% of its SRP. you can search sites such as atlanticwatches to get the SRP. ebay also provides a nice approximation. just take a look at how much an item ends in bidding. normall, prices are 20-30% lower than that in the local market. just be cautious as there are many fakes in ebay. though quite a bit more time and effort consuming, it is better to buy from private collectors/pre-owner sellers locally. that way, there is no commission involved thus reducing the prices more.
