Team Pilipinas Basketball

it is now apparent that it is company's interest first before country. i may, however, be wrong on this. just when philippine basketball is gaining ground and has, in fact, caught the attention of world basketball powers due to its decent showing in the fiba world, we are again in this situation where lending of players is becoming to be the biggest problem. it just saddens me because neighboring countries, china in particular, once it chooses a player to represent, that player has no other recourse but to play for country. was this the case of wang zhizhi before? sabagay, dito kasi sa atin, ang lalaki ng sweldo. majority, if not all, would not want career-ending or near career-ending injuries to happen like what happened to paul george. mabibilang na lang siguro ang mga players na gustong makipagbakbakan for flag and country.

Kaya hindi go nagustuhan ang SMC teams and lately MVP teams. Sa PBA naman kitang kita yung mga hindi nila pagsunod ng rules.

PBA, if there's still a "PBA" (SMC vs MVP na lang halos) turn a blind eye against those shady transactions and even favor them.

very well said chief. sad to say, and we have to admit it, this is the state of philippine basketball. gone were the days of national pride...playing with honor for flag and country. ngayon, pwede ka lang mag-abroad at sabihin may sakit ang tiyahin mo tsk tsk tsk with this kind of mentality among pba owners, we might as well forget our dream of making it big in the international arena.

Next week SBP is expected to announce the final list of the national team’s pool of players for the Olympic qualifyier, giving Gilas less than two months to prepare for the event set from September 23 to October 3 in Changsha, China.

Meanwhile the other asian countries were already preparing for the FIBA ASIA

And i thought after the last FIBA asia and fiba world...plus the embarrasing asian games debacle....you would think the gilas committee would have learned their lesson already...inde na uubra yun mga last minute na paghahanda...magagaling na rin yun ibang mga asian countries...plus yun china at iran maagang nageensayo...tska nde ba alam ng PBA na pag dissapointing ang performance ng team pilipinas nagrereflect sa mababang game attendance ng PBA? Tapos nandyan parin yun bangaan ng mvp and smc group..i wont be surprised if we'll finish outside the top 5 ....

i'll not be surprised either...with china, iran, korea, jordan, japan, qatar, doing their respective homeworks while gilas has yet to form a team, i'm not even expecting a decent finish...sana mali ako.

A few months back there are already rumors that Tod Baldwin had conflicts with team owners of some PBA teams and another rumor that is that management of MVP team is trying to lure players from other teams to join them during training camp thats why other teams are reluctant in lending their players to Smart Gilas.

the players kasi are "owned" by their mother teams. pag na injure sila or over fatigue sa competitions..ang mag susuffer eh yung mother teams.i think we dont need this pro players. dapat kasi we build a team for international play. yung hindi pro players. they should just be well compensated so not to be lured to play in the pba.as long as mvp involved eh mababahiran talaga ng vested interests yan eh may mga teams sya sa pba eh,kaya ipagdadamot talaga ni rsa yung mga players niya baka ma pirata eh hehe. as long as the national team will "borrow" players from the pba we will have these problems over and over again....yung sabay sabay mag kaka injury at lahat busy busyhan. hindi na rin kasi tayo makakabuo ng magandang team kung ganto ang mangyayari.
