RED2018
Slamming Marcus in a press con just leave a bad taste in the mouth. Coach Chot should have dealt it internally. In his desire to convey his emotion, he unwittingly shared info to othet teams, he should have addressed it while it was happening. Look at Coach Tim Cone, he always blamed himself whenever his team loses. I don't think his coaching staff and even MVP liked his gesture in the press con right after the game...Am sure 'though that his teammates would be with their Kuya Marcus on this episode Quote Link to comment
brandom
Let's hope all the best for our Gilas to win today's game against our arch rivals South Korea. Too much drama has been done yesterday so keep it behind and let's all put our good faith in our Gilas to win today. Quote Link to comment

game_boy
Yes, we absolutely need utak. Puso can only bring you so far. In finishing games, we need utak and not puso. One such team in the PBA which I believe has it is San Mig Coffee. Those guys aren't really the most talented of players compared to Ginebra but they finish close games. That's the reason why they're grand slammers. That same killer instinct was present in the grand slam Alaska teams of Abarrientos, Hawkins and Lastimosa. There's one common denominator in those teams: Tim Cone. I respect Chot a lot but parang iba yung pag instill ni Tim Cone ng killer instinct sa mga players niya. in the international tournament more than utak we need the strong and tall fil-foreigners. the 2 consecutive losses against qatar and korea are living testament to this. game_boy
i would like to hear chot's explanation on the benching of douthit. mvp obviously has spent a lot on this guy for years. is it the end for douthit? Quote Link to comment

game_boy
the other countries have vastly improved by leaps and bounds. senegal is a country which the philippines easily beats by 50 points during the 60s but look at them now. the philippines narrowly escaped with a victory against this african team in the last fiba world cup. pba gate receipts will definitely suffer this next conference because the best players of the land playing in the pba just couldn't deliver to the disappointment of every filipino fan. additionally, in a typically pinoy setting may internal fighting and finger-pointing pa ngayon. blackwater and kia are the teams most affected with the realization that we really don't have the personnel to compete internationally. Agent_mulder
Sure its a disciplinary action on the part of Chot but then again Marcus could have provided the difference. Geez akala ko after their impressive showing sa FIBA World Cup against world top ranks in world basketball like Croatia, Argentina and even Puerto Rico mas maganda ang ipapakita nila sa Asian Games Quote Link to comment
jasper.custodio
Mr. Chot...next time use your head not your heart...this is a team play how could you sat down M. Douhit when our country is on a crucial game...You never learn from the past games as well....that we always loss on the end game (4th Quarter)...why? because lack of initiative in players rotation kulang na kulang ka sa diskarte...sa nakita ko kanina pinairal mo yung pride mo na wag palaruin si Douhit...now do you think it was a right decision..it;s a big NO.... ppdd
nde ko napanuod yung game (collecticon + kenshin kasi)buti nalang kundi nde na naman ako makapag dinner nito sa lungkot again... almost but not quite... maybe it's too early for us to expect anythinganalyze the past games and make the necessary adjustments. go gilas pa din (kahit masakit sa damdamin) Quote Link to comment
azraelmd
Well at least alam na natin talaga kung ano or rather sinong may problema sa gilas...nde na naman pinalaro masyado si japhet...malaking bagay yun may matangakad talaga sa loob eh...no offense kay ping ha...pero mahihirapan talaga sya sa loob pag pinostehan ng klaban na bigs eh...but hey we should be proud...all pinoy ang naglaro kanina and tinambakan pa natin ng 16 pts!!!!!....all phil team yan kanina...you really have to hand it to chot...dami din syang gimik to get the pinoy crowd support by playing all filipino... RED2018
Hope springs eternal. We still have to hope, though, that Korea beats Qatar. If Korea tanks the game against Qatar, then it's really over. I hope Chot lets Marcus play tomorrow. As cited by Burgito, Korea would not want to be beaten by Qatar, as they will have a great possibility to face Iran (projected No. 1 in the other Group) in the semis by virtue of win-over-the-other rule... azraelmd
I still cant move on overr our loss to qatar...we won over senegal in FIBA world...no disrespect to the qataris...ni wala pa sa kalahati ng senegal ang qatar eh... Quote Link to comment
ray004
I suspect before the game against Qatar may internal problem na sa team. I'm curious how they're going to play tomorrow. how's the team's morale right now and for the game tomorrow? Quote Link to comment
delimondo
I was a bit disappointed with how Coach Chot handled the issue with Douthit. That should have been kept internally within the team Quote Link to comment

brandom
a very heart breaking loss, everytime I watch the game or read the play by play feed of the Gilas' game, lagi nalang sumasakit ang puso ko. Sana naman sa mga susunod na games, hindi na pasakitin ang puso ng bawat Pilipino. on the other hand, coach chot has taken the blame for the loss and that's already agonizing enough on his part. so let's all pray that this time FAITH would get them to win more rather than heart. Faith sparks up the heart and mind of the players. so this time dapat #pananalig o #pananampalataya naman ang hashtag. Quote Link to comment
azraelmd
Ok one last question to all the MTC members here in smart gilas thead....can anyone explain why coach chot uses the small ball type of plays? Almost all the scoring is done by our guards...ok lang pag nandyan si castro...why doesnt he use japhet? Am i misssing something here? And lastly bakit favorite nya itong lineup...alapag tenorio lee/ norwood, RDO and ping? compared to a fajardo japhet RDO/norwood, chan and tenorio/alapag? But ill be lying if im not looking forward to toms game vs kazakhs...even if almost a slim chance of us advancing...still hoping we win by 12 pts.... Why So Serious
The public want Tim Cone to coach, kaso lang e bata ni pangilinan tong si choke ay chot pala let's remember that chot nearly lost his job...mvp wanted to win against senegal so badly and hade we lost to senegal, chot's tenure as head coach would've ended. so i guess being a bata of pangilinan is immaterial imo. basta para sa bayan, i'm sure coach tim would gladly accept the challenge...ang tanong, payagan kaya siya ng smc management? smyts
Last year, Tim Cone was invited to be part of the coaching staff for Gilas for the FIBA ASIA. But for unknown reasons, he politely declined despite the fact that he and Chot are best friends. So getting Tim Cone will be a hard thing to do cause we all know SMC management won't allow him to go to coach Gilas that easily. That is because of "MVP" i guess Tim is not in good terms with Pangilinan and thats the politics in ph sports sited when DepEd was still DECS, really if you want to win for the sake of patriotism you will disregard any state pangilinan can offer a huge bucket of cash and we know he can. Pero winning is still winning USA Team is not payed to play for international gameskaya marami din ayaw sumugal ng team owners na ibigay players nila. Point here is, stop the politics.
