Boxing pays better.

true that. boxing draws more money from sponsors and from fans.

thats because not everyone appreciates mat work. when people say contact sports, they mean strikes.

ufc's most popular eras were during the times of great pounders like Lesnar, Connor fookin McGregor (who has better than excellent technical skills, yes, but he IS a striker first and foremost), Rousey and Holmes, Silva, Diaz, Adesanya, etc. GSP is more adept to the groundwork but his most popular matches are those with kicks, and when he got Freddie Roach to help hlm with Koscheck.

but during the times of Severn, Dan Henderson, Frankie Edgar, there wasnt much media attention. Khabib only became the talk of town because of the Connor feud (and because he is the baddest boy in a Russian mob bwahahaha).

MMA.

MMA is more exciting because a single mistake can cost a fighter that's better in every way. Or a weaker fighter can develop a really good gameplan to take the win.

But boxing is still fire, tho.

Boxing is generally more consistent where the better boxer will consistently win, which makes it boring if you're watching casually. Also, there seems to be a lot of corruption. Compubox is stupid. Some scorecards look like they were penned by a drunk person.

As a sport, boxing. But for professional fights, it's MMA.

In boxing, fundamentals are necessary for you to become a boxer; to box effectively and efficiently. Just like basketball, hand and feet coordination is a must. Boxer must efficiently use power and stamina in order to get the W.

In MMA, if you know how to punch and kick, with proper strength training, you can be an MMA fighter. But there are several martial arts that you can mekus mekus to fit with your fighting style and capabilities. And since MMA gloves are way thinner than boxing gloves and kicking/grappling can be utilized to finish your opponent, one single mistake, either you or your opponent, can be knocked out/submitted.

MMA is exciting because any fight can end excitingly, even amateur fights. Which makes it entertaining even for casual audiences.

Boxing is the sweet science because it's so old and has been developed for so long. But that also has created a skill gap between fighters that it's easy to have a boxer that is outmatched turtle up and survive until the final bell and pray for a decision.
