Bro si Jervis Cole ang import ng Ginebra noong manalo sila ng championship against shell (w/ is reinforced by bobby parks) noong 1992, while si Alex Coles naman import nila noong '94 o '95 yata at naka-isa o dalawang laro lang yata para sa Ginebra. Saka wala pa si Noli Locsin sa Ginebra noong '92, like I said tinalunan ni Alex Coles si Locsin along with 3 or 4 cheerleaders/dancers....

got that right bro..jervis cole was ginebra's import during the historical finals in 1992 (ginebra was down 1-3 in the series)..in game 7, distrito hit the winning jumper w/ 2 seconds remaining and cole rejected magsanoc's (?) 3 point attempt in the dying seconds.

it was in 1995 when ginebra brought in alex coles as a replacement import. he arrived right before the annual all star game that's why he was able to participate together w/ noli locsin in the slam dunk event. to ginebra fans' frustration the duo lost to shell's elmer lago and benjie paras in the finals.

because of a tip from an unnamed coach from an opposing team that alex coles is over the height limit, he was again re-measured by dr. ben salud, pba's resident doctor, before the resumption of the regular games. indeed coles was over the 6'4 limit by 3/4 of an inch. despite of public clamor and positive consensus among the pba players on allowing coles to play, he was never allowed by the pba.. he was instead signed up as an import by the PBL andok's team in 1995 that took home the crown in the SEABA championship

Ayun si Parks pala hehe..:D

Wes Matthews played for Ginebra only 1991. That was in the third conference. They lost to Alaska in the finals. The IBA tournament was only staged twice. The first was in 1987 where the US team won the event. The second was in 1988 when the Añejo team reinforced by Bobby Parks led them to the Championship. After the IBA, Parks played for Shell where he led them to a second place finish against an SMB team whose import was Michael Phelps.

I recalled that another import of Ginebra figured in a controversial height issue is Sylvester Gray many teams protested that he is above the 6"6' height limit in that conference eventually they reach the finals against Shell which Shell won due to the infamous walkout in Game 6 by Ginebra then coached by the legend Sonny Jaworski.

Parang malamya 'yung mga unang dunks ni Noel, parang bang pigil pa, pero when it counts the most saka n'ya ipinakita ang dunking prowess n'ya. Napuna ko lang, 'yung mga dunks ni canaleta puro walang dribble? Saka, may lahi bang african-american sina canaleta, jason castro at gabby espinas? O mga nognog lang talaga?

You've got quite a memory a true blue Ginebra fan like me bro.

May natatandaan ako pero meron ding akong 'di ma-recall na maige minsan hehe..

Alexander Coles never played for Ginebra because he was a shade (3/4 of an inch) over the height limit at that time. despite the public clamor he was never allowed by the PBA to play..he instead played for Andok's RP Team as an import.

Now i remember..

shell siguro 'yung nag-tip during that time dahil 'yun ang arch rival nila and I really hate ronnie magsanoc during that time..

But he was nevertheless allowed to play for Ginebra and even play for alaska after several years..

That year was 1991. Although they won again in 1997. After winning the championship in 1991, Ginebra's misfortune happened. The last time they went to the semis was in 1993 during the AFC tournament. In 1994 to 1995 they never entered the semis. Jawo later realized that you need talent in order to succeed in this league.

This guy played also for Alaska in 1997 second conf. But he eventually had to leave and was replaced by another import.
