Find some posts here medyo exag nga...specially kung Philippine setting.....my mom got to 6 figures only after becoming an AVP for a bank. My past boss na general manager namin na dating artista na coming from a "rich clan" gets 40-60 then.

I know there are exceptions & sometimes swerte na rin and talagang weird and unfair compensation is towards some people....depende lang what you get based on luck, "talent" & how you market/ fight for getting what you feel you deserve. Someone posted na 100k total as marketing manager, di naman annually yan right? then halos walang OT, normal hours...waw....that's freakin' lucky huh?

How weird are salaries? My experience:

fresh grad started at 7k as advertising consultant for an ISP, basically lahat ng advertising and marketing responsibilities/ requirements from ads to web page to POS.

Went to one of the well know ad agencies in the Phil....started at 11k + OT pay....worked my butt off....maaga na 7pm makauwi....may late night to walang uwian days.....when i left the comapany my monthly was 18k

Became a marketing manager for 22k. Usual hours...8am-5pm lang.....unless there was an event which extend to 7 or 8pm and ofcourse ingress -egress which may happen during non regular hours but still, this doesn't happen everyday naman. Left that job at 24k.

Went to SM (the mall) as marketing manager for 25k.....yes mababa but i was looking for challenges...bigger company and what i could learn plus networking opportunities....i got those naman...kaya lang i underestimated a lot of things....i know SM is known for being a S@@###hole in terms of employment pero lahat naman company may undesirable eh so...fight....culture here is really bad....you can get far by reallllly kissing a$$ minus skills or know how.......you get ahead by being kup@l and "murdering" people just to look good. Some top honchos are brats and throw tantrums when their not in the mood or see any kind of errors (if they were even errors at all). I was servicing a number of malls pa + the crap i got from my boss....25k was a real disservice. so i left.

Now 30ks later.....working as marketing specialist for a multinational company.....i hardly do anything and my present boss thinks i work fast, siguro kasi laid back sila dito and nasanay ako sa fast paced. 9-6pm hours.......internet to the max.....days i don't do anything.......isn't it unfair? And some of my SM coworkers get less than 20k to work their a$$ of...with Saturday work....plus the BS from bosses.....man.

Yup, with great salary comes great responsibility..yun agree ako with some posters that announce high salaries pero head will roll pag nagkamali sila..their heads......

Depends talaga sayo how and where you end up and if you're happy. Some people live happily with less than 20k, some live in hell for 80k.....you choose your poison.

Salary scales also depend on the industry and the amount of responsibility vested on you. I was getting Php100K/mo as Marketing Manager over ten years ago and retired three years later at Php130K/mo as Sales Director. At that time, my company was at the middle of the industry's pay scale. Other companies were paying similar positions +20-30% more than what I was getting. Our company's car budget at my level was Php600K, while other companies' car budget for similar positions was already Php1M. As Marketing Manager, I was responsible for Php240M in annual sales, as Sales Director I oversaw annual sales of Php1Billion in year 2000. Now, I'm happy at a Php20K/mo salary I pay myself managing my own business with sales of Php12M per annum.

It's quite easy to get a 6 digit salary here, but it all depends on finding the right job opening.

You don't have to be a suma cum laude or anything, basta good yung reputation mo sa industry.

Too many rules to follow

Very easy to be fired from a simple fault.

Pros:

Extra income

Secure money for rainy days

Cons:

I do not get to see any of it since i give it to my parents as a good son who helps his retired parents...

Got to give it out in very low rentals since i am not there to manage it in person

It is always a headache dealing through phone with people who try to fool you on your own properties

about 1 million pesos per year

Pros:

Made money where i did not expect

Trust the potential of getting rich in a developing country

Keep me busy and active while on vacation from my regular job

Cons:

I do not get to enjoy not even one centavo since as a devoted dad and husband i invest everything back again for the futurre of my wife and son

Dealing with filipino, too many with an attitude, too many with a drama story, ALL thinking i am a fool, ALL thinking that because i am a foreigner i have tons of money as if they came to me by rain..., too many asking me to sell them for almost free (that should go on the pros since it always amuses me)

Today i had to let one of my maids go to her province for good and found out that her boyfriend has a credit of 2000p which i do not expect to take back...bahala na...At least he is a nice guy and neighbor, live and let live...

Future plans:

A photo shop and a bonsai gallery (the bonsai is almost done) to develop and maybe make money on my wife's hobbies :hypocritesmiley:

just had my evaluation done with my boss where I was told my salary will be adjusted to an annual Php720,000 starting March next year. something i can look forward to.

at first, very intimidating mga posts dito because salary abroad is huge when converted into Php. but foreign income is also met with foreign expense particularly the housing rates.

to better see the relation, can convert them into an apples to apples basis.

to do this, we can use the world bank's 2007 GDP per capita data, then follow the ff steps.

1) multiply the foreign annual salary by the RP average GDP per capita, which is $1,640.

example. foreign salary is US$600,000 per year. so US$600,000 x US$1,640 = US$984,000.

2) divide the product by the Foreign country average GDP per capita.

example. In the case of US workers, it is US$45,790. so, $984,000 / $45,790 = US$21,490.

3) convert the quotient by multiplying with the existing peso:foreign currency rate.

example. exchange rate is Php46.7:US$1. so, US$21,490 x Php46.7 = Php1,003,555.

that is the annual salary conversion. to get the monthly salary simply divide it by 13 months.

so Php1,033,555 / 13 = Php77,197.
