Mango Man
ROTC is complete waste of time! Quote Link to comment
Area51
Waste of time. Dapat, gawin nalang nila, for 1 week, tree-planting lahat ng students somewhere. Enjoy na, environment friendly pa. wala rin kuwenta yung ginagawa nilang social work thingie. Dapat yung may solid results. Quote Link to comment
BrightestStar
It should be mandatory again. Quote Link to comment
ATONG ANG
It should be mandatory again.soldiers to go up against missiles? better to earn more money to buy those missiles or develop the technology to make them and use them against the enemy. Quote Link to comment
Mango Man
ROTC = complete waste of time. Â Â Brighteststar, i think your suggestion that it be mandatory again is...quite frankly, not the brightest. Quote Link to comment

sonnyt111
agree ako NA IBALIK ANG ROTC KUNG: real training ang gagawin, meaning tactics, strategies, military history, real weapons training, yung babaril talaga at least yung dalawang last sems, etc. ang problema kasi martsa lang ng martsa. wala kasing katuturan kapag ganun. WASTE OF TIME! kahit sana parang yung ginagawa nila sa Singapore. I agree with this all the way. Can't understand what benefits can be derived from marching up and down, doing push-ups etc. Without a real combat scenario, ROTC as it is practiced in the Philippines today, is virtually useless and a waste of time. sonnyt111
Give the upper classmen some special training, make them into "officers", and they think they're suddenly Rambo. Yeah I'd like to know kung naibalik ang ROTC sa mga universties and colleges. The fact that we're even asking each other means we haven't even heard about the re-introduction of ROTC.  Can anyone confirm this? Quote Link to comment
maxiev
Kids today have better things to do with their time instead of marching up and down a field under the hot sun. Their time will be better spent doing community service. Quote Link to comment
Fusarium_jimini
ROTC should be made mandatory again.. Quote Link to comment
faroasis01
Agree. Sa ibang bansa nga tulad ng South Korea required ang two years na military service diba. Walang exempted kahit yung mga celebrity. Dapat ganyan din dito sa atin. Quote Link to comment

But all these exercises are obsolete due to technological innovation. Quote Link to comment
komissar
the purpose of ROTC is to provide a ready reserve force in time of war. Indeed there are some countries that employ CONSCRIPTS (eto ang tawag pag nag serve ka na sa armed force nila, ROTC is the training part) mainly South Korea and Israel this is because, well for SOKOR, they are technically still at war with NOKOR and Israel can't afford to be lax in their defense considering they are surrounded by Arab countries ready to pounce on them anytime. But the Philippines? yes it was mandatory then since the the peace situation in the region and the whole world was very fragile but today? for it to be revived i agree with some of the posters here that the curriculum needs to be improved to deliver a more responsive program. Is NSTP better? IMHO i think it just legalized the corruption in the ROTC then of paying off your absences by paying the necessary tuition, dagdag pa dyan ang mga required books pati uniform. isipin mo sa colleges and universities ngayon iba ang uniform ng PE iba sa NSTP, eh sino kikita dyan?sympre ang school. With ROTC kase lugi sila, they have to open the school on Sunday translating to overhead costs plus they give honoraria pa to the Commandant ng School plus free Office Space so lalabanan ng mga schools yan. A revived, responsive and advanced ROTC is indeed more effective in training the youth of today. bonanas
Hindi lang na naman sa time of war magagamit to, yearly may natural disaster or state emergencies. Like sa States yung reserves nila (National Guard) bawat states may naka standby at iko call up in times of need. Inaabuso talaga yung ROTC, di ako sang ayon dun. In abolish na lang, dahil dun he died in vain exposing yung corruption. SMH! Sayang ang ROTC! Quote Link to comment
Gits
for me it's better to remove ROTC. if you want to become a soldier go to PMA instead. opinion ko lang. PAX! Quote Link to comment
glut_func
wala namang kwenta ang ROTC...dagdag bayarin tapos pahihirapan ka lang, as if freshmen life wasn't hard enough already. Quote Link to comment

Edmund Dantes
Sakin ok ito kung........ 1. Me check and balances. I know importante pagtuturo ng military discipline at konting hazing para maging magaling na sundalo, pero huwag naman dapat sosobra. Me oversight dapat. Lay down the ground rules 2. Me maayos na curriculum for the cadettes. Survival training etc. Quote Link to comment
