Any feedback on ZIC motor oils, from South Korea? A friend of mine's recommending semi-synthetic for my Innova (diesel), either 10w40 or 15w40. He says I can save in the long run because I can have oil changes every 15k kms. Tapos number 1 motor oil brand daw ang ZIC sa SoKor.

My First choice is Royal Purple Fully Synthetic Motor oil

next is Shell Helix Ultra Fully Synthetic Motor Oil.

I've been using Delo400 for my fort since 2006. Change it regularly at 5k intervals. Im very satisfied with this oil. Lakas pa rin hatak ng fort ko at almost 130k odo.

try nyo shell helix or wuerth fully synthetic. both are very good oils.

Shell Rimula (R4) 15W40 for BOTH my gasoline and diesel engines.

 

The gas station mechanics grumble about apocalyptic engine damage as I order them to pour in the Rimula diesel engine oil for my mutivalve gasoline engine. But said Rimula oil is rated CH-4/SL, which well exceeds the rating needs of the gas engine even though it's 30% cheaper. And I am an engineer, immune to marketing and auto suggestion crap that the engine runs smoother with this or that more pricey stuff

 

Baloney - if the oil meets the API engine ratings, and is from a reputable company, use it.

Agree completely. I always look at the API ratings.

 

I use HX5 for my gasoline engines, and R3x for Diesel.

Just a tip I picked up.

 

Don't buy semi-synthetic oil. You never know the ratio of synthetic and mineral oil. It could be 10% synthetic and 90% being mineral. Don't assume it's split 50-50, even if the price makes it seem like it.

From a cost-benefit point of view, is it cheaper to use synthetic oil considering you get to change it at longer intervals than with regular motor oil. Or are you better off buying cheaper motor oil and changing it at shorter intervals?

I top my FD up with HKS Super Response Racing 10w-38.

Every 3k kilometers ko siya pinapalitan.

First 1k lang sa casa, then 4k, 7k, 10k outside na.

Never had problems naman hanggang sa nabenta na.

People have been telling me HKS oils are just rebranded Idemitsus.
