In a joint meeting today with the Raw and Smackdown rosters in the United Kingdom, in Sheffield, Vince McMahon announced that within the next several weeks, a new drug testing policy will be implemented in which performance enhancing drugs, such as steroids, etc., recreational drugs, as well as abuse of prescription drugs will be banned.

In addition to the new drug testing procedure, there will also be an emphasis on cardiovascular examinations.

just watched the WARRIOR vcd...

It's as if the documentary was pure anti-warrior... aside from the comments of Y2J and christian... the other's was all negative most notably Bobby Heenan's comment...

pati yung entrance ni WARRIOR na-criticize...

maybe right now, he's a little bit on the cuckoo side but nonetheless, he deserves a little bit better recognition than the vcd brought... parang sobrang negative...

comment lang po.

SMACKDOWN TAPING IN SHEFFIELD, ENGLAND LIVE REPORT

by Jase @ 10:30:00 PM on 11/22/2005

Smackdown Report from Sheffield

by Jase

Tony Chimel welcomes us and we get on with the Velocity taping.

First out is Chris Chaos vs. Kid Kash. Kash got the ECW chants. A decent match with Kid Kash coming out on top with a pin fall.

Next, out come WWE Tag Champs MNM along with Melina. Paul London's music hits, he and Brian Kendrick come running to the ring Warrior-styley. Some great action in this match, worth a look. Winners by pinfall, MNM.

Taylor Phoenix vs. Simon Dean had its moments. Seeing 'Simon' come down to ringside on his Segway-style vehicle is amusing. Dean got on the mic and informed us that we are fatter than Americans, which is a hard thing to achieve (his words, not mine). He asked his opponent his name, to which he replied Taylor from Sheffield. Taylor refused Dean's offer of a Simon System Protein Bar and got a slap for it. Again, a decent match, fairly amusing. I don't think there's that many people that know he's Little/Hollywood Nova (I mean at the shows not on here).

Sylvan vs. Funaki was a good match aswell. Funaki can wrestle besides being Smackdown's number one announcer. Sylvan got the win with a pin fall.

Smackdown opened with Tony Chimel introducing Tazz and Cole.

Tazz got in the ring and in a somber voice, reminded us that Eddie Guerrero had passed away last week and said he knew Eddie's family watched Raw and Smackdown religiously and the 'Eddie' chants will mean a lot to them.

The Taping:

Chris Benoit vs. Booker T for the US title - Out comes Sharmel wearing her crown to a chorus of boos. She thanks the fans, acting like she's won a beauty contest. She introduces her husband, Booker T. Mixed reaction for him, still a lot of boos. Benoit comes out to a huge pop. The match was fairly good. The ref get's knocked down in the corner. Benoit manages to suplex Booker but he blocks the second one. Charles Robinson races to the ring (he's very fast). Benoit gets the sharpshooter on Booker but Booker makes the ropes. Benoit gets the 3 suplexes. They both go to the top rope when the first ref is coming around. A suplex and both mens shoulders are down, each ref makes the three count but who for? The refs disagree about who won, both wrestlers get their hands raised. This goes back and forth for a good five minutes (insert ad break here). Out comes Teddy Long and after stumbling over his line, Sharmel interrupt to save his embarrassment, he tries again (I see now why it's not live). He asks for a replay on the Titantron which shows both mens shoulders down from various angles. He says that Benoit and Booker had a similar outcome to a match in WCW. Long made an executive decision and declared Benoit wasn't the US Champion. Neither was Booker T! They would begin a best of seven series to crown the undisputed US Champ, the first match being this Sunday at Survivor Series.

Next up it's The Dicks vs. Legion of Doom. An average match to be honest. Typical LOD style until one of The Dicks grabs a bottle and squirts some kind of liquid into Animals eyes. Animal is 'blinded' and The Dicks take the match.

Ken Kennedy vs. Matt Hardy - Kennedy got a good pop when he came out. Last night at the arena it was all about the WOOOOOO's. Tonight it was all about the KENNNEEDDDDYYY...(long pause)...KENNNEEDDDDYYY. A microphone came down for Kennedy to introduce himself which was well received by the fans, he resorted to some cheap heat, putting over the USA as the best country in the world. Hardy came out to a huge pop. All in all good match, a bit short but enjoyable. Kennedy goes over to the timekeeper for a chair. In the ring the ref (Charles Robinson) grabs it from him, they tug at the chair, back and forth before it ends up hitting CR in the ribs. Kennedy looks shocked, like it wasn't his fault (Snitskyesque) and CR calls for the bell. Winner by DQ Matt Hardy. Another huge pop for Hardy.

Christy vs. Melina. - I'm not a fan of the women's division per say, but Christy has improved quite a bit recently. Melina came out with both of MNM. Both women end up on the outside where Christy finds herself on her back. The ref sends both of MNM to the back for interfering. Na na na na......na na na na.....Hey Hey.....Goodbye. Melina gets a clean victory over Christy (from my vantage point at least).

Carlito and Masters from Raw came through the crowd and took up position in the front row where Teddy Long's security guards ran down the ramp and kept guard by the barrier at ringside.

Juventud vs. Nunzio for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship - A video package is shown from '2 weeks ago' in Italy with Nunzio getting the win over Juventud to gain the Cruiserweight title. Nunzio comes out with Big Vito. All three Mexicools come out on their lawnmovers and ride around the ring before parking up (I wish parking at the arena was this easy for us fans). A decent cruiserweight match with Juventud picking up the win and the title.

Regal & Burchill vs. JBL (w/Jillian) & Mysterio - Regal got a good reception being the 'hometown' boy. Huge pops for Mysterio and Bradshaw. JBL arrived in a Rolls Royce complete with Bullhorn ornament. Mysterio got the 619 early on at Burchill's expense. Carlito and Masters who are still at ringside distract the ref as Shawn Michaels enters through the crowd at the opposite side. Shawn interferes in the match, superkicking Bradshaw then makes his escape. Teddy's security are distracted as Carlito and Masters jump the barrier and inflict some more punishment. Both of LOD, Benoit and Hardcore Holly run to the ring to make the save. The match ends in a no contest.

On the TitanTron, Batista is shown having his injuries from Raw being bandaged up before his match (either that or he's auditioning for The Mummy Part 4). Orton walks in and says he wasn't there for Batista when he needed him and if anyone knows what it's like to be injured, it's him (Orton). He doesn't want Batista to use his injuries as an excuse in their match tonight. Batista says he beat Triple H for the title and Triple H beat Orton for the title. He says he left Evolution on his own terms whereas Orton was kicked to the kerb.

Orlando Jordan vs. Bobby Lashley - Orlando played jobber for this match. I half expect Lashley to get on the mic and ask 'Who's next?' Lashley got a big pop.

Teddy Long is on the TitanTron saying he wants all the Smackdown Superstars at ringside as security to stop Raw getting in.

Randy Orton vs. Batista for the World Heavyweight Title - Orton comes out w/Cowboy Bob and gets a big pop. Batista's pyro is totally deafening and blinding for that matter, in person. A massive pop for him. The match didn't happen because all (virtually all) the Raw Superstars invaded. Raw vs. Smackdown around the ring and all the way up the aisle. Batista gives the Batista Bomb in the ring to several Raw wrestlers. Through the crowd comes Kane and The big Show. They manhandle Batista on the outside. Kane removes the top of the announce table and dumps the monitors. Double chokeslam from Kane and Show through the Spanish (sorry force of habit) announce table. The fight goes on with Raw vs. Smackdown before Raw eventually leave for the back with Smackdown in the ring. The show ends. Mysterio climbs to the middle turnbuckle with an Eddie sign from a fan. Huge Eddie chants. Eddies music hits. The wrestlers eventually begin leaving as Mysterio continues to pay respect to his friend and the crowd show their respect and appreciation. Another Eddie sign is placed on the windshield of the 'London' Taxi Cab as the wrestlers disappear behind the curtain.
