joseph1
^ I just realized, if you were referring to today's game, then I definitely hadn't watched that yet since it was UFC on Fuel earlier. Just saw some rave reviews on Lin being a facilitator this time around (plus career high in assists today) so definitely a must watch game for me. Definitely agree with the Howard commentary. He has made it clear that he wants to play with stars and don't think that NYC has the long term salary cap to keep him, Amare, Baron and Melo all at the same time while maintaining a deep roster. johncharles
Things are getting out of hand here, Jeremy Lin for MVP is now the rage! Jeremy Lin is the biggest story in sports these days, so it makes sense his appeal is now spreading to the betting shops. A day after the Knicks point guard nailed a game-winning 3-pointer versus Toronto, Sportsbook.com dropped his odds to win the NBA MVP from +5,000 to +2,500. “We put up odds on Lin on Saturday and already have over $20,000 in action just on him,” Sportsbook.com oddsmaker Michael Pierce said CNBC's Darrell Rovell reported that Sportsbook.com opened Lin's odds at 100/1, dropped him to 50/1 yesterday before going down to 25/1. If Lin did somehow miraculously win the Most Valuable Player award, Sportsbook.com would be on the hook for approximately $1.2 million. currently LIN 25/1 ranks higher than --Amare 50/1, Dirk 50/1, Pierce 50/1, Rondo 50/1, Westbrook 30/1, Nash 50/1, Carmelo 30/1, J.Johnson 50/1, Manu 100/1 If that is not a head scratcher, maybe this is --> Ben Gordon has a line of 10/1 chance to win MVP! Droidz1979
JR Smith is almost a sure thing for the Knicks after the interim GM of the Knicks and his agent recently met.. he'll be offered a pro-rated mid-level salary cap of the Knicks that was at 2.5M. This gives their back court and probably the second unit an added fire power with Baron Davis (if healthy), Iman Shupert/Landy Fields, Steve Novak/Jared Jeffries and Harrelson. Balkman is the unlikely player that will be cut as it would have been Lin had the Linsanity craze not took place. Melo and him shared the same agent and he lobbied hard for him to be nabbed by the Knicks the way Chaucey, CP3 and K-Mart are lobbying for him to go the Clips din. Buti na lang vet's min. lang maaford nila On to the 8th streak tomorrow. Melo might tentatively play on their game with the Mavs on Sunday which will be shown by ESPN. Quote Link to comment
pajac24
wow nabuhay ang thread ng favorite team ko, when the knicks were irrelevant nobody looks at them and watches them now everyone is jumping on the bandwagon and everyone now is a critic..let's just enjoy the moment..it's been a long time coming..oh yeah jr smith signs with the knicks Edited February 17, 2012 by pajac24 Quote Link to comment
Droidz1979
It's official, JR Smith is a Knick!! He was a nut case at times at Denver but he could also be an offensive juggernaut that the bench or second team needs. Hopefully, he'll mesh well with the gang. Guess the bandwagon effect is normal, with the recent LINSANITY phenomena but its always good for the sport the way Yao did to NBA in Asia and it doesn't hurt either that there would be a lot more people rooting for my Knicks other than the Fakers este Lakers or the bandwagon Heat fans when Lebron (choker) jump shipped dito sa Pinas. Droidz1979
The win streak ends tonight after the Hornets hand an 85-89 loss to the Knicks.. J-lin had 26 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals and "9" TOs while Amare had 26 points, 12 rebounds, 1 steal and Chandler with 10 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blks and fouled out on the game. NOLA's weapon, clogged the lane by applying the zone and playing the passing lanes that resulted into costly TO's and lots of missed 3's. This game obviously reminds everyone that the Knicks need Melo as well as JR Smith for consistent shooting to complement the inside game. Novocaine was simply absent tonight. launchpad
if you watch the game, it just proves the knicks need to knock down shots. in this game lin could have gotten 10 - 15 assist if it wasnt for fields and novak missing those open shots. the 9 TO's were mostly from Lin trying to create something but since they arent knocking down shots they just waited and waited for him. one thing i notice is chemistry, if the floor has fields, novak, jeffries and chandler along with lin. lin plays differently but the thing is if you notice stat seems not much enthusiast especially on the pick and roll with lin. it might be just me but when shumpart was the pg at the start of the 4th, stat has more life in the pick and roll, has more flair compare when his giving the screen than lin as pg. ilan games to ko na to napansin mula nung bumalik si stat. they were saying the pick and roll for stat would do wonders, yet i still have to see it. most of the passes lin creates beautifully credits fields rather than amare Quote Link to comment
johncharles
Its good that the outcome ended this way, as much as he denies it,Lin is trying too please people. A playmaker doesnt have to rack up assists,An indirect approach could work as well, Lin makes the pass to a team mate who in turn makes another pass that leads to the bucket.Currently its just a 2 step process aka pick and roll, thats why oppenents tend to easily cut off the passing lane. Droidz1979
The Knicks did not punish the Hornets by sinking the wide open 3's and by missing a whole lot of free throws.. it was a close game and they did held the Hornets below 100. However, the likes of Novak, Fields, Shump and Walker could not shoot on a consistent basis even if their life depended on it. This game proves that they need Melo and JR, period since if the defense sags on J-Lin, it will either result in a turn-over or a wide open shot. He had 8 TOs on the first half, good thing he adjusted his game on the second half and only had 1 but they did not lose this game because of that. With regards to the Amare-Lin PNR, they just don't have the chemistry yet. You could see that J-Lin prefers the picks that Chandler provides than Amare so they still have some meshing to do but they do have those flashes already. And when Lin sits, the Knicks offense is an obvious mess. Shupert is not a point guard and should not be masquerading as one even though his defense is good. They obviously need a healthy Baron Davis since Bibby just ain't cutting it lately. Edited February 18, 2012 by Droidz1979 Quote Link to comment
Mehdi!
Time top bring things down a notch, Getting a lose is good since it will allow the Knicks to set back and check the things they did wrong. The thing I heard about Lin is that he is a learning player sans the TO, but from this game, I guess he will learn to value the ball more. The comments about Carmelo being needed is right on the button, JR Smith is a good addition. Can't wait to see the Knicks - Heat rivalry renewed. Quote Link to comment

Dude reviews tapes during half time and adjusts his game afterwards. That loss was bittersweet in a way since NOLA definitely a team that they should be beating in line with the tough sked/opponents that they'll be facing afterwards. The fact that it was a home game makes it kinda worse. For me, it wasn't their defense that did it as others have pointed out (not this forum) and blamed Stat for it, it was obviously their offense namely not hitting those wide open shots (Novak, Fields, Shump) thus making it easier for NOLA to clog the lanes. Come play-off time that could be the strategy that teams could use against New York. Hopefully, Melo and JR as well as a consistent Novak would solve this, they just have to develop that chemistry fast and soon. On the other news, Melo might still not be able to play on their game against the Mavs on Sunday (Lunes sa Pinas) but Baron Davis and JR Smith are said to be available. Am excited for this game, hope they nab a win down here also to silence all those new found detractors. Package din ata to the way Miami experienced. Quote Link to comment
