question - how much to budget for 5 days Japan vacation for 2? and what do you recommend for the 5 day itinerary?

we will be back in tokyo again this july. our last trip lasted 5 days as well and we spent like 25k each. this includes airfare because we got a promo fare. airbnb is good for group. hoping when we we travel again will be sunny not rainy.

To be in Osaka as your temporary home base would be best. One reason for that is that it has Shinsaibashi and Dotonburi in one area, walking distance from each other. One is known for shopping and the other for food. Pick a hotel within the area. The train station is also very close by. Many places operate 24 hours. If you wish to maximise your hours in Japan, this, then, is the place to be.

 

Second reason is that a few minutes or hours train ride away and you'd be in Kyoto or Kobe or Nara---all tourist favourites in themselves. Each can be discussed at length for there are many good places to visit in each one.

 

Third, and this is if you have kids in tow, are the closeness or presence of Universal Studios, Denden Town and Toei Kyoto Studio Park (like Hollywood for Japanese films and Animei).

Now Japan is rainy season. Everyday is rain. How about to go to southern island in Japan. These places rainy season is almost over.

There are many LCC flights and it is cheaper than Shinkansen between Oasaka and Tokyo. Try local food and Awamori liquor.

OVernight stay in Hakone is really recommended, their onsens are very relaxing and a good respite from the bustle of tokyo.

Natural beauty, friendly & accomodating people, great food and a lot of places to visit are the reasons why i like Japan.

Only thing i dont like is that everything is expensive.

Cost of living in Japan is quite similar to Singapore. If you travel to Japan, it can be expensive. But if you know plan and research all the stuff you do. You can probably avoid spending too much. Just look on what did this guy did.

Try booking your stay through AirBnB. I got mine cheap and loved the traditional Japanese house in Kyoto. Very convenient.

 

In Fukuoka, try to see rates of Court Hotel. It was reasonably near the Eki and Was just a block away from Canal Malls.

Sapporo kaya?

Unless you're into nature stuff or planning a ski trip in the winter season. I don't recommend Sapporo. But i do recommend going there in October. Sapporo beer is made in Sapporo, thus it's fun to go there for Octoberfest.

Winter is best at Lake Kawagujiko, best view of Mt. Fuji. You can take a day trip to Fujiten snow resort from there to learn to ski or snow board or just for really nice white winter pics.
