I can wet sand while going through the official e-mail. Quote Link to comment

Dr_PepPeR
hi all! i started scale modelling with zoids and gundam figures. i am planning to scratch build model ships. does anybody know where can i buy styrene in the country? thanks... Lil's at Park Square 1 and at Megamall has Evergreen Styrene sheets, various beams and rods in stock. You can also go to Hobbies and Comics at Makati Cinema Square where they also have some Evergreen Styrene stuff and one time I saw some Squadron packaged styrene sheets of various thickness, including a couple of clear sheets ideal for vacuforming. floppydrive
I'm not sure if Hobbies and Comics still has sheets. Last time I passed by, their stocks were very low and it seems they're not that keen on replenishing. Lil's definitely maintains stocks. Quote Link to comment

Yes, Roel and Natalie's stock of Evergreen styrene isn't as good as Lil's but sometimes you can find rods and sheets that are out of stock at Lil's. It was here that I also saw the packaged styrene sheets distributed by Squadron that had half bond paper sized styrene sheets of varying thicknesses plus two clear styrene sheets for heat punching or vacu forming clear parts like canopies. Currently working on Zvezda T-26 Russian tankette and Panzer I, it feels like doing 1/72 aircraft. Quote Link to comment

Probably my subconscious is still recoiling from the memory when I got their Russian WW2 infantry set way back in the 90's, damn, they were so crappy! Spent my whole time cleaning seam lines and the fit of equipment was horrible! Reminded me when I got my 1st ESCI kit of SS troops! Awful, I was a teenager that time but I knew then that it was bigger than 1/35 scale, actually it might be bigger than 1/32! :thumbsdownsmiley: Sorry for the rant, my kits are mainly Tamiya then dominated by DML. I've been contemplating on getting a Trumpeter kit. Reviews from Missing Lynx, Armorama and PMMS are quite okay, might try their KV series. Quote Link to comment

I cut my teeth on the old Academy clones of the 1970s Tamiya kits. Not too bad but I really didn't know how to fill in seams and always thought that more is better when I was using the old Duco Cement in the tube. I still have a lot of armor kits in the stash, around 400? Tamiya, Academy, DML, Italeri, Trumpeter, AFV Club, the odd Heller and Zvezda kits, unfortunately I have no Finemolds or Gunze. I'm starting to build the difficult ones although I was surprised at the quality of the Zvezda Panzer I, nice detail but a bit too over engineered, too many small parts. Quote Link to comment
Dr_PepPeR
Going to Lil's later to shop for serious plastic, like some of those 'premium editon' DML kits. Why do I feel like I'm going to a porn shop? Quote Link to comment

Dr_PepPeR
Did the Mrs notice the latest addition to your collection? Was in front of Lil's yesterday, but was able to resist the temptation  to enter. Actually she did, but she was too busy counting the 10K I gave her to get some new dress/makeup/shoes or some other trivial thing. I was chatting with a newbie armor modeler who brought his wife with him (typical noob mistake) when he noticed my stack of DML kits being arranged in a box. Turns out he's a surgeon. He says he is as precise with assembling his kits as he is with an operation. I can imagine him positioning the parts within a millimeter's tolerance. Me, I'm just happy if I can actually finish a kit. Oh and you are made of more sterner stuff than I sir. Edited May 27, 2007 by Dr_PepPeR Quote Link to comment
Dr_PepPeR
Aside from all the DML 3-in-1, premium, smart kits, I got tempted by the AFV Club Centurion 105mm Gun NATO version and the Big Shot GMC. Quote Link to comment
