Who Is Into Scale Modelling?

Cruzer,

Thank you sir, for the compliments!

Doc,

One of my dream projects is a 1/72 PAF C-130. The C-130 is just a beautiful bird, and seeing it in PAF livery makes it even prettier. My problem right now is that even as we had moved to a bigger house, my display space in fact got smaller. Until such time that I could convince the wife to let me put a glass cabinet in the family hall I wouldnt have parking space in my small hobby room for a 1/72 C-130. My space is already filled up with existing kits and of course my stash.

:D

Btw, Italeri released a 1/48 kit of the UH-1D (which is almost identical to the UH-1H. ESCI came out with an even better 1/48 kit years ago but this one's out of production. The kits were labeled as UH-1D or UH-1H. The only problem is the sliding door windows; one was longer than the other. Standard Ds and Hs had the same size sliding door windows.

Gumboo,

Theres also a Lils store at the basement of SM Mega. And there's another at the Trinoma mall.

Herr Boelcke, why not wait for Trumpeter to come out with a 1/48 C-130? Then you can backdate it to the C-130s that the PAF have. I've always admired the PAFs camo on the C-130s, they look much better than the US or any other country's C-130s for that matter. That project justifies additional display space sir. I haven't seen the Italeri 1/48 Huey kits, all I have are their 1/72 kits. I hope one of the mainstream manufacturers gets working on 1/48 choppers, aside from Academy, Trump seems to be concentrating on 1/35 scale helicopters.

Special Toys has 3 1/72 scale Italieri Hueys in stock, plus a 1/35 scale Huey by a new company - not sure if it's Hobby Boss or Trumpeter.

I think the brand of those 1/35 scale Hueys is Panda - a DML subsidiary?

Doc,

1/48 C-130's too large. I just might force the issue and get it parked in the family room, but that's gonna cost me plenty. You know how wives are. They invented the concept of bribery. Joke!

Yes, the 90s PAF C-130 camo (quite similiar to the US desert camo, really) is very attractive. But if I do build a PAF C-130 it might be the usual Lizard scheme. Kasi I have a lot of pictures of the PAF L-100 (civilian version of the C-130) when we boarded the plane in Lipa. My daughter was fascinated with that plane.

Bribery works both ways Herr Boelcke. Surely the wife has her own 'hobby' you can use for leverage? In my case its the shoe and clinique toiletries collection.

update:

just bought a KITECH 1/72 scale AH-64 Longbow Apache.

Looks like I'll be spending a lot of sleepless nights with this project...

Haven't seen the Kitech 1/72 Apache yet sir, would you care to post some pix?

Malaki ba investment? Saan yun may best price na scale mods?

Thanks.

Actually not that much, for an average 1/72 kit, paint, brush and cement will be less than P500. Try Lil's in Megamall, South Mall or Parksquare 1, Hobbies and Comics in Makati Cinema Square. Ali Mall and Market Market, Special Toys at Filinvest, Virra Mall etc.

Here's a custom die-cast model I really wanted. The base model(Inflight200) itself costs $200 plus the customization labor which the person is charging $180. I need to add shipping charges pa! It used to be a Lufthansa Inflight 1:200 die-cast model converted to a decaled Philippine Airlines.

Hmmm. Shouldn't the lettering read "Philippne Airlines" instead of just "Philippines"?

I hope the runway base is not included - the scale seems out of proportion to the plane.

My cousin used to collect wood-carved models of aircraft. He got them in Angeles City when Clark was still an American Military Base. I'm not sure if the carvers can make commercial aircraft, and if they are still around, though.

Sir the model is actually quite accurate as can be seen on the actual aircraft photo below.

Thats a beautiful PAL jumbo, Cruzer!! Ive always wanted to collect PAL planes but the diecast offerings are way too expensive. I saw a Dragonwings PAL B777 at Lils and it sells for P895!

Sir Boelcke I actually collect these stuff. I don't have much time for plastic kit building therefore resorting to collect these. I do my own miniature model airport building though to house my collection. I have the PAL777 dragonwings as well as the geminijets version. I am waiting for an a320 as well as q400. Hopefully, they will release them.:)

If you really want the set sir....I may be able to get it from someone who works for PAL. Just tell me if you're still interested. Below is a sample photo of my miniature model airport.I made it as a replica of NAIA Terminal 2. I'm still on the works for the terminal1 and terminal3.
