Who Is Into Scale Modelling?

Heres the latest off my workbench. Its a 1/144 Revell E-3A Sentry.

The basic kit is 26 years old. First made in 1982, and the quality shows its age. Its really very crude. I had to rescribe the whole thing and make new gear doors and aerials from scratch.

Hope you like it.

I finished the most tedious part of AFV modeling last night. I was able to brush paint the roadwheels of the Abrams, using Tamiya Nato Black and retouching with Tamiya Nato Green the many mistakes I made. Don't ever try to paint the wheels when you're sleepy, you will only add more time in correcting the demarcation lines. I'll finish off the wheels, tracks and underchassis this weekend so I can put the sideskirts on. The office work just keeps getting in the way.

Doc,

Naah. I dont buy any WW2 stuff. I mean, its great reading about WW2 or watching movies/documentaries about it, but Ive lost interest in building WW2 model subjects since the late 80s.

:D

Gosh I thought painting Luftwaffe and Italian camo would be your cup of tea!

yo doc la pa bagong pictures ng abrams niyo? :) looking forward seeing the finished product.

Been working on the tracks and wheels sir, in the meantime I've put the decals on. Will post the pics this weekend.

Latest thing off my bench.

Its a 1/72 Hasegawa VF-1A Valkyrie from the Macross series. Been wanting to build one for the longest time.

I superdetailed the cockpit and canopy, opened up the engine bay and other access panels and made the interior details from scratch. I also dropped the leading and trailing edges and scratch-built the slats.

Hope you like it.

Magnificent build, sir!

The detail work is fantastic!

Just one question, though: Does the VF-1's wings really have flaps? Never noticed it in the series. Hmmm. Have to dig up the Macross DVDs.

Do you also have the Battroid version from Hasegawa? That would be a great pairing.

Thanks Floppy!

Yes, the VF-1 has flaps. I used as reference a scanned instruction sheet for some resin upgrade set for a VF-1 kit, plus 2 cross-sectional schematic drawings I downloaded from the internet. You might be able to come across these schematic drawings too when you surf the web.

I dont have the Battroid, though. I thought Id build this one and that may be it. Ang mahal kasi ng Hasegawa Macross series kits. This one cost me P1,350.

Yes I agree it's a fantastic job. I saw some Macross kits in Roel's store but it was a bit too expensive for me. Thanks for the heads up on the 1/48 C-47, Sir Bockscar I think Monogram had one way way back. Got to call Lils!

Thanks Doc! Actually, thats where I got this kit.

Btw, Floppy, heres a link to a schematic drawing of the VF-1, showing the flaps in down position:

Vielen Dank Herr Boelcke!

How long did it take to build?

I had to hoard the whole Macross fleet from Special Toys since Hasegawa has a penchant for doing special short production runs only. It takes a long while before they produce again. Same with Fine Molds which is a much smaller company than Hasegawa.
