floppydrive
Hi Floppydrive! There will be another competition sometime in June according to Lil. This will be sponsored by Dragon/DML so I'm excited to get first hand info on what they are up to. I was hoping to be able to enter this one instead of the nationals on November. Anyway, it's tougher to do a dio, brings up a whole new kaboodle of model building challenges that makes repairing a broken vinyl track child's play. BTW I managed to staple together the track and tightened the staples with a pair of needlenosed pliers to make them relatively flat. Will paint them before I put it on the wheels since I will have to live with what they look like now. I checked Toys R Us in Galeria, and yes they have model kits but guess what? Lil's supplies them, so there is also a markup. Best to get the kits directly from Lil's. For AMT/ERTL kits, why don't you go visit Winston's shops (Special Toys), he usually has a lot of those old AMT/ERTL kits. For the 1/48 aircraft stuff, Italeri regularly reissues AMT/ERTL kits.Great to hear that you got the track repairs done! I'm sure no one would know about the staples after it's painted. Thanks for the info re: Toys R Us. Just passed by Winston's shop (again) this afternoon. Was just window shopping since I don't have the time to build kits. Felt like a diabetic in a candy store. Anyway, he has AMT/ERTL kits as well as Finemolds and Fujimi. Was just wondering how his prices would compare. I used to order from HLJ and if I order the kits two at a time, it's usually cheaper by P100 to P200 than buying from Winston. BTW, Jsenti, Special Toys has a Fujimi Tommi Makinen Edition Lancer Evolution VII, in case you're interested. It's not an EVO 6, but would a 7 do? According to a friend, whose Tamiya Sprayworks broke down a few years ago, the rubber seals inside cracked so it couldn't pump air. He wasn't able to get it repaired. Your unit might have the same problem. If so, there's a custom rubber manufacturer in Mandaluyong before. I'm not sure if they're still open. If they are, you can have a custom seal made for your unit. Please check the yellow pages under "rubber", "rubber seals" or "seals". Hope this helps. Quote Link to comment

Dr_PepPeR
wow thnx that would be very helpful if ever that happens pero sana compatible buy ko sya if compatible  I think what floppydrive meant was he would ask his friend if he could give the gearbox on his old Tamiya Sprayworks compressor to you so that there would be no compatibility issues. The weekend is here, time to try again to bludgeon my Zvezda T-26 into submission. Quote Link to comment
Dr_PepPeR
What do you use to thin Italeri White Stucco? I tried acetone but it doesn't mix well with the stucco producing a very grainy putty that won't really stick anywhere except on your hands. It looks OK with Tamiya cement but the cement is too expensive to use as a thinning medium. Will lacquer thinner work? Quote Link to comment
Dr_PepPeR
Lil's has a new shipment of kits, mostly Trumpeter stuff but also includes Hasegawa 1/48 and 1/72 kits. The Trumpeter 1/35 Pzkpfw IV Karl munitions carrier is also available. BTW why is the Trump 1/48 Wyvern so expensive? Quote Link to comment

Dr_PepPeR
Bummer! Mahahalata ng judge yan! Any chance of finding it? Vacuum or sweep under everything? I'm sure it will turn up - probably a few months from now when I've abandoned the kit. I've always believed that there is a plastic part bermuda triangle where important bits go for certain periods of time only to reappear once again in the most obvious places where you've sworn that you've gone over with a flashlight ten times. Anyway, the other track that I've broken sucks big time so the T-26 will end up as another paint test wreck. Will start a new kit this weekend, maybe something that has wings... Thanks for the sympathy sir, I really just needed to rant. This time I will take in-progress pics. Maybe something that runs on rubber wheels instead... hmmmm. Quote Link to comment

I know the frustration of lost parts, sir! I've had my share. I once lost the plastic canopy of a Y-wing. Had to scratch build one from hard plastic packaging material and some scraps of glass tint film. Anyway, looking on the bright side (while waiting for the bermuda triangle to cough out the sprocket), you can use it in a diorama with a Panzer blowing it away, hitting the sprocket and mangling the tracks - hence the missing part and poor tracks, hehehe. Good luck with your next kit, sir! Hope you complete it before the triangle opens up again. Quote Link to comment
