djrs
JORDAN is a very good player but not the greatest...its just media and nike made him famous. i am not a jordan fan. pero he is the greatest player dahil sya rin ang nagpasikat ng NBA isa sya dun.. sya rin ang nagpasikat ng todo sa NIKE. until now bumebenta parin sapatos nya... Magaling si jordan dahil gumagaling din ang kakampi nya dahil din sa kanya.. motivated ika nga... Quote Link to comment
dencio
:upside: Quote Link to comment
Bolj
nope Jordan's the greatest...arguably...He's the only guy who can make statements like "we will game 7" and do it...Russell is more on a defensive player and a leader...and those qualities are just "part" of Mike's game...We can enumerate multiple kinds of offensive moves of MJ and name a few of Russell's game... darth_johnnie_walker
last but not the least, russel didnt' win 72 games. as MJ succinctly puts it - "anybody else win 70 games?". - coming from the greatest player who ever played the game. Don't forget that he did 70 TWICE...! :thumbsupsmiley: Quote Link to comment
dencio
^^ Almost lang, dude - 69-13 sila after the 72-10 season. :goatee: Quote Link to comment
wizard23
^^ correct. they almost won win no. 70 on their 2nd year after winning 72 games. but Ewing and the knicks denied them the history of repeating it by beating the bulls on their last game of the season which should have been win no. 70 for the bulls. bukn0y
dude subukan mo din tanggalin si pippen from bulls tingnan natin ano mangyari sa bulls it takes two to tango ika nga. so hindi dahil kay jordan nag champion ang bulls kundi dahil sa kanilang lahat dahil ginawa nila ang nararapat na laro nila. Tama ka dyan! bukn0y
pero mali yung alisin mo si jordan eh di na mag champion ang bulls dahil alisin mo din si pippen i am sure bulls will not get those championship ring too. well, ok you have a point there. after all, basketball is a team sport and not a one man's team. the good thing about jordan is that he makes everybody around him play better, if not harder. still, you will find in crucial games, the entire team depends on jordan for the crucial basket, the winning shot - sya kasi ang go-to-guy and the game's closer most of the time. :goatee: Quote Link to comment

Pippen is also a consistent player... matagal narin sila jordan at pippen sa chicago pero nung 90's sila nag dominate... jordan and pippen help the chicago bulls to win championships! nung nawala si jordan wala rin nangyari... but still consistent parin si pippen... Basketball is a Team game.. and it is not a one man show.. lalo na ngayon maraming team na defensive minded thru their coach.. You cannot win a championship if your team is not involved defensively and offensively... mali yung term mo na na "it takes two to tango:" a team is not consist of two... siguro mas ok kung "it takes a team to tango! 5starters 7reserved and a coach... orionpax
The main difference with the Russell - MJ comparision (for some, since its like comparing apples & oranges) Russell has 4 or 5 STARS (3 all Stars) plus subs that can be starters outside the Celtics in that run in the 60s MJ ONLY has Pip as his star side kick...and a legion of ROLE PLAYERS Besides.,..the word GREATEST is NOT limited to the "skill, number of rings, points, and all statistical thingies" Consider what the guy has done for the sport...it goes beyond the numbers and rings... Some players have the "skillz" as hommes would say... but is it enough? naaaa.... Edited February 1, 2009 by orionpax Quote Link to comment

And winning as a playing coach makes it much much sweeter, donchathink? However, MJ's legacy goes beyond that of Russel's.. Why? His games are top-notch.. Dramatic finishes and he is almost always on the limelight.. Media, you say? I say not.. His game winning shots, his impossible dunks goes beyond the unthinkable as he made basketball what it is today.. At the end of the day, as you say, its not about skills, its not about the accolades.. Its actually what impact you have done for the sport that makes you the greatest there is.. Jordan has made a lot of boo-boos after his last championship with Da Bulls, but his legacy can outgrow any boo-boos, because he is simply MICHAEL JORDAN.. Quote Link to comment
