What's Your Video Card?

Recommended Posts

When it comes to low end cards, there is only little difference in price with PCI-E...However, in high end AGP cards, because of low demands, kaya mas mahal since users buy high end cards in PCI-E platform...Kasi nga kaunti nalang yung nagmamanufacture ng motherboard na may AGP slot so consumers, bat sila bibili ng high end video card na out of production?..

I finally found someone na katulad ng interests ko...^_^ See you in the Games Thread dun tayo usap about flight sim...^_^

So, it is like comparing ddr with ddr2 rams. currently kc mas mura ang ddr2 rather than ddr the higher the demand the higher the price.

By the way, I'm looking for a good GPU because I'm gonna install Microsoft Flight Simulator X and run it with all the settings maxed out, with decent frame rates. Demanding kasi yung system requirements ng FSX. Instead of getting a GeForce 8000 Series, do you think a pair of GeForce 7300GTs (256MB 128-Bit) running on SLI mode would be enough for the job?

The rig I'm building will have the following specs:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Socket 939

Asus A8N-SLI SE

Kingston 1GB DDR2 RAM PC400

Seagate 120GB HDD 7200RPM SATA

Creative 24-Bit X-Fi Platinum

_________ >>>> Video Card ????

Base on experience, if you want to build an SLI pc, use GF7900GS (PALIT) or higher. I think its around 7.5k a piece at PCBODEGA. But if you're on a budget 7300GT is good though in SLI mode. B4 i use 7300GT Sonic in SLI, pero pinalitan

ko ng 7900GS. Its not because 7300GT wont do the job, but for the reason that sayang kc yung SLI ready ko na PSU. Wala

kasing 6pin power connector yung 7300GT.

These are my specs to give you an idea on SLI:

AMD Athlon64 X2 3600+ AM2

Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe

(2x) 1GB Kingston PC533 DDR2

(1x) Gainward GF 7900GS 256/128 DDR3

(1x) Palit GF 7900GS 256/128 DDR3

(1x) 160GB WD HDD IDE

(2x) 80GB Seagate SATA (configure to RAID) for much better graphics

(1x) LG GSA-H42L DVD with LS

(1x) LG DVD Drive

(1x) Intake 12cm case fan

(1x) Exhaust 12cm case fan

I use casetek 1026-9b for my casing and modify it to add 1 side fan for internal cooling.

Nice write-ups you got here. To those who are experiencing problems with their graphics cards, hope you could specify what brand of GPU you are using and maybe some details too about your setup/rig. This would be a great help to those of us who are planning to upgrade our video cards. That way, we all could avoid the lemons. Thanks! I'm planning to get one.

So which one would you recommend?

BRANDS

- Sapphire

- Palit

- Leadtek

- PowerColor

- Inno3D

- MSI

- ASUS

- Foxconn

CHIPSET

ATI

Nvidia

For the chipset I only recommend NVIDIA

For brands I highly recommend EVGA pero bihira lang kc yung nagbebenta.

So I would go for Leadtek, Gainward, Asus, Foxconn and Palit kc mura and ok namn.

The others, I would'nt recommend at all.

Why are video cards 7600gt or 1650xt and higher so hard to find in the Manila? Shops would tell you that they need a deposit to get the cards, can we believe them?

Kasi they put usually on stocks yung mga low end na video cards since they believe not everyone can afford those high priced video cards. Im tired of seeing 6200s for PCI-E and FX5500 for AGP, the usual display on most pc parts retailers.

Ow my video cards is geforce 6200 and geforce 8800gts

Sir I suggest you hold your horses muna sa pagbili ng graphics card. Ive read some articles on the net regarding the release of mainstream Geforce 8 video cards mainly 8300GT 8600GT and 8600GT Ultra. This has not yet been confirmed but being speculated by many tech specialists. So If I were you, go for a medium end card first for something to hold on to. Then when the cards comes out, you can have it.

You can buy also like my video card below it costs around 28000 brand new. Good deal for a DirectX 10 feature but not stable though (Vista bugs and issues, FSX issues)...

SLi? are you really sure gusto magSLi ng 7900 series?!?! sure dodoble talaga ang avg framerates mo... but are u prepared kung anu kapalit nun??? i'll give you some killer drawbacks about SLi--->1)SLi'd cards are power whores ergo... 2)dodoble ang electric bill mo sa rig mo, 3) questionable computer stability, 4) SLi/crossfire technology is still classified as EXPERIMENTAL technology

and more...

so be prepared if in case you take teh plunge to SLi 79'ers :)

Rising Sun (located at Taft ave) wants a P5000 deposit before they could produce a Powercolor x1950 pro. Is it safe to deal with them?

Axis Global, the local distributor of Powercolor video cards, don't deal with end users. Less than 2 years ago, I bought a ECS mobo from Axis Global (via PC express), and it turned out to be a tomato board, sometimes it hangs for about 5 mins when I try to run IE. I tried to have it replaced, but PC express technicians acted more like company lawyers rather than responsible businessman. Innovista, the local distributor of HIS video cards, doesn't have stocks of x1950 pro either.

Are there other choices?

If your not into SLI then don't try it!!! Not all people are like you or like me.

Well I have my SLI for 2 months now and satisfied ako. About stability? You should meet all the required specs

when building an SLI PC. The most important is, you should have an SLI ready PSU of atleast 500watts and a minimum of

2GB of RAM. FYI 7900 series GPU is more stable than the others.

^^I share the same sentiments as you. I started my SLI rig close to a year ago using 2 7900GT cards. I had no problems with stabilitiy. As long as you meet the recommended requirements, mostly you will enjoy your games at high settings with very good frame rates. So SLI really are for users who want that extra juice in their games.

2 months ago, I ditched my 2 vidcards for the newer 8800GTS 640MB. As far as speed is concerned, a single 8800GTS leaves my old SLI setup in its dust. No contest really. FEAR and FEAR Extraction point 50-75fps at ultra-settings AA and AF enabled, 1680x1050 widescreen resolution. Plus the new card is DirectX 10 certified. With that in mind, it may no longer be practial to build an SLI rig using the 7xxx series since cost -wise the difference won't be much from a single 8800GTS (at least with US prices) Currently I see no need to go SLI with the 8800GTS. But wait till a truly DirectX 10 game is released like Crysis and newer DirectX 10 technology is utilized in games. Perhaps then 8800GTS in SLI might be necessary. :D

Those two above are right. Before putting up an SLI setup, be sure you meet all requirements first. Instabilities have causes that can be plotted out easily. And yes, building up an SLI setup right now would not be cost-wise since purchasing a single DX10 card would be a wiser option having DirectX10 and as well added robust power.

I bought my 8800GTS from a dealer in TipidPC. I saw his advertisement kasi. I payed full cash so I have no idea about the deposit thing. But when it comes to deals naman, I have not encountered problems naman with them. They have nice aftersales naman e.

Mahirap bumili sa main distributor kasi yung warranty niyan. And pangalawa, nagbebenta sila sa mga resellers. Oo nga makakakuha ka ng dealer price pero yung warranty mo for the product, yun ang mahirap.

hate to say this but Gilmore and Greenhills is still my paradise for pc parts. Malayo pero worth it.

@TasmanianDevil

Pero ngayon, with the latest windows certified drivers from Nvidia version 100.65, stable and fast performance.

Most developers are still utilizing DirectX 9.0c. So unless DirectX10 games are released , naka-abang lang ako (tayo) with vidcard and OS.

Thanks kenji, finally, I got my Gecube x1950 pro 512mb from a shop at Robinson Galleria, near Gold's Gym.

Originally, I wanted a 256mb model because the reviews posted at various sites in the internet shows that the 512mb model does not have much performance improvement over the 256mb model. Unfortunately, only the 512mb model is available.

Thats nice to know...You bought from TPC? Yeah there is only a MINIMAL difference in performance between a 256mb and 512mb gfx card, but the rendering graphics data size capability of a 512mb is much better, so it can handle much more detail. ^_^

Now you can start playing majority of games at high settings. Enjoy!

Thanks I hope everything would work out fine, for the mobo+processor+ram+hd+dvd drive+power supply+casing I have spend more than 30T. They will put them up together next week, and give it a 1 to 2 day burn-in.

Help!!!

Mobo chipset by Nvidia (nforce 550), graphics card chipset by ATI (x1950 pro). Will there be a problem/conflict?

Thanks.

I haven't heard any problems with Nvidia chipsets + ATI cards setups.

Just make sure you don't flip things around. ATI chipsets are found to have a lot of issues with Nvidia cards.
