KobeWanKenobi
As per rumors on MyPBA and PBA.ph, Siot Tangquincen has replaced Biboy Ravanes as interim coach of the San Miguel Beermen. Quote Link to comment
[TWO]RERO
di na po rumors. Siot is at SMB na talaga. CONGRATS sa new coach guys. Quote Link to comment
kLique
Beermen call on Siot to check skid The Philippine Star 03/21/2007 The SMC management has decided to bring coach Siot Tanquingcen back to San Miguel Beer from Barangay Ginebra in a bid to break a three-game losing streak in the Talk n Text PBA Fiesta Cup under coach Biboy Ravanes. Tanquingcen is taking over from Ravanes starting today as San Miguel plays Purefoods Tender Juicy and its returning import Marquin Chandler at 7:30 p.m. at the Araneta Coliseum. Alaska Milk and Welcoat clash in the 4:35 p.m. curtain-raiser. Tanquingcen is returning to San Miguel after a three-year stint with Ginebra which he steered to two championships in the 2004-05 campaign. Ravanes has been relegated back to assistant coaching spot. "That’s the way it is. Coaches are just like players – our fate is not in our hands. I’m not expecting this but I’m ready to face the challenge," said Tanquingcen as he regained a head-coaching job after yielding the position to Jong Uichico at Ginebra at the start of the season. Informed of his transfer only Monday, Tanquingcen prepared his Beermen for today’s game with the Giants just yesterday. "There’ll be no much changes in the system. If ever, I’ll be the one adjusting to them. But it’s no big deal since I’ve worked with practically everybody in the team," said Tanquingcen. "In fairness to coach Biboy and the other guys in the San Miguel coaching staff, they were doing their jobs. It so happened they couldn’t get anything with their import in this import-reinforced tourney," Tanquingcen also said. San Miguel lost its first two games to Red Bull and Air21 with import – Vidal Massiah firing only 11 points versus Red Bull and going scoreless against Air21. The Beermen suffered a third straight defeat with Paul McMillan proving no better than Massiah in his debut versus Coca-Cola in a road game in Tubod, Lanao del Norte Saturday. McMillan scored only 11 points. Meanwhile, Air21’s Gary David earned the PBA Press Corps’ ACCEL-Talk N Text Player of the Week honors for the period March 12-18. "The energy he keeps on bringing to his teammates is very remarkable," said Air21 coach Bo Perasol of the guard who had a direct hand in the team’s two wins in the week that was. "There will be times of the game when his offense is cold and he compensates with great defense," added Perasol. Quote Link to comment
gullible
good decision by SMB, Siot deserves to be head coach. Biboy seems to be tentative in coaching, he is fit only to be a defensive asst. coach, Pido would be a good choice also. Hopefully, we can expect Mcmillan to improve tonight given time to rest and recover from jetlag. Quote Link to comment
howard_the_duck
Pido MUST stay as assistant. period. Quote Link to comment
[TWO]RERO
Feeling ko unfair eh.. From asst. Coach of San Miguel to Head Coach of Ginebra then demoted to Asst. Coach dahil dumating si Coach Jong (which was also the Head Coach of Beermen when he was with the Beermen) and now back to head coach Of the beermen.. di kaya siya nahilo na sa kaka re-shuffle.. paano pag balik ni Chot Reyes? balik Ginebra siya? or what? :grr: :grr: Quote Link to comment
