Philippine/filipino References In A Foreign Movie

Eto kakapanood ko lang kanina..

Dr Who Special -- Waters of Mars

(any Dr Who fans out there? ) :)

Dr Who (A Time Lord/Time Traveller) shows up in Mars in 2059, where Earth's very first Colonists where setting up a base on Mars. The Colonists were very surprised to see another Human on Mars aside from them. So they were speculating who he is and where he's from.

One girl said "I bet its the Philippines. They're so sneaky, probably built a Rocket right under our noses all this time". :thumbsupsmiley:

IMO one of the best and POSITIVE references out there. (Look at practically all the refences here, daming negative.. Porno, snuff films, etc or irrelevant.. Balut, DHs, Mahal kita, etc)

Eto at least the implication in 2059 Industrialized na tayo who can (theoretically) build a rocket to Mars.. :thumbsupsmiley: )

In the latest episode of NCIS: LA, they have a Filipino call center operator/Abu Sayyaf terrosist named Amputuan. Apparently, Americans dislike Filipino telemarketers as much as terrosists.

Mabuti naman walang gagong pulitiko mangngumpanya upang ipagbawal itong series sa local TV...I hear ikukuha nito ng Studio 23 within this year....

Soulmen starring Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac...hindi ko kabisado ng verbatim but it goes something like this...

Bernie Mac: How about you? How come you never got married?

Samuel L. Jackson: I almost hooked up with this girl down in the Philippines in Manila. But, i couldnt learn to speak

TAGALAG (not a typo) and the only English she knew was "Me love you long time for $2."

In the movie "Sphere" starring Sharon Stone, Dustin Hoffman and Samuel Jackson, they were investigating an "alien" spacecraft discovered under the ocean. A box which serves as a trash bin inside the alien spacecraft was labeled - Basura.

Basura is not an exclusively Filipino term. It's actually a Spanish word which a lot of Filipino words are.
