from the looks of it, seems you're a conservative investor that prefers stability of returns rather than volatility of prices. then bili ka ng stocks coming from the PSEi

sa booksale maraming financial books na di pinapansin kaya nagiging mura. i would recommend books by jesse livermore, peter lynch etc

check mo ito para sa insight ng PH stock market

http://www.pisoandbeyond.com/2014/01/a-complete-idiots-guide-to-stock-market.html

when it comes to trading/investing, kelangan mo muna malaman ano yung investment profile mo and risk tolerance. from these two, malalaman mo kung anong strategy ang pwede mong gamitin:

technical analysis - for short term trading. check mo tong cbt sa youtube

fundamental analysis - for long term investors. try mo hanap sa investopedia, maraming kang makikita dun about fundamental anaysis approach.

pag medyo gamay mo na, pwede mo ding gamitin simultaneously both TA and FA strategies.

hope this helps.

Why did SM share price drop from P1,012 (July28) to P684 (July29) in just one day? What triggered the suddenly unloading?

Masters?

stock div. kaya bumaba. 50%, try researching on dividends.. :)

I think I saw an article (forgot if it was Rappler) saying that Shell is planning its IPO? If so, what do you guys think?

wait sa main prospectus of the IPO, cguro kung ako, i will buy, pero i will just flip it on the listing date. based on the float na nilabas 90pesos per share ang compute ko eh... hehe

Hmm, oil prices tend to fluctuate diba? I'm just wondering if it will be the same when it comes to the stock market? Specifically sa Shell?

Well I'm still learning about the ins and outs of the Stock Market world, and so for you guys have been helpful!

wait and see mode muna tayo. we need to check 3 factors - stock market's performance, company's balance sheet and financial performance.

if there are slump in oil prices nowadays, i think it would still be good since this will improve demand and working capital

most of the time ang price oil stock(ng company) is nagdedepende din sa international market, madalas sila proportion.

tama si boss bangad, tgnan mo yun balance sheet ng company and financial(fundamental analysis) ska stock market performance(PSEi sa pilipinas).

yun ins and outs sa market is depende sayo kung anu goals mo, long term ba or short. pero wag mo pa din kalimutan tignan ang performance ng company, baka mmya bili ka ng bili yun pla bumabagsak ang market nya.

try to study chart of $TEL kung may access ka sa charts, good example yan. haha, hirap magexplain... goodluck

further to what sir win3x has mentioned (sorry for the 3x hehehe), stocks on the same sector tend to be influenced by the same economic conditions. you need to compare each company's price and valuation and this is measured by the stock's P/E ratio. from that info, check mo kung bakit masyadong expensive yung company - siguro dahil ini-expect na mag-grow yung earnings on the next few years; or bakit masyadong mura yung company - maybe because yung business is growing less or actually slowing down.
another thing, try to avoid the hype and dpn't rely too much on analysts reco (may mga mods/members among fb groups na nagha-hype, so beware!). most of the time they offer you some great info on the health of a business/company, but be aware na they tend to be biased for 'buy' ratings. so ingat ingat lang din.
