ironshots
Hello K800i lovers! My phone is back and alive again, the Russians cracked it! As I posted here, SE service center was not able to do it. They sent it to their "higher level support", but even them can not fix it. They said they can not figure out the problem, so they wanted to change the whole board and charge me like P11,000+. I told them I am asking them to fix my phone and I am not buying a new one. I did a lot of research online, trying to find a solution....but most pointed me to the same answer - there is no available software to do it at this time. There were about 2 sites who it seems can fix this kind of problem, for pay. But even that is not assured, and I did not want to risk my credit card number, so I did not avail. In my research for answers, I found a lot of interesting stuff about SE phones (since my search is focused on an SE phone, my K800i). So, after 2 weeks with SE's "higher level support", they qouted me with the amount I stated above, so I pulled it out instead. Then I tried to look for someone who can repair it....the usual suspects inside the malls or some tiangge who are "specialists" in this trade. The first 3 did not accept it. Their reasons: "sir, di ko kaya yan, mataas protection ng software nyan", "sir, hanggang open line lang ang kaya ko sa ganyang phone", "sir, mukhang ibang klase yang problem ng phone mo, di pa ako naka encounter nyan". Actually, I believed them. Because from my research, that was what I found out. Newer SE phones have higher software protection. If only its an old model, I can already crack it myself with the software tools I downloaded. So, they did not want to waste their time because they know, it can not be done. Then the 4th one.... he did not accept it too, but told me...bring it to "mistmatch" in the xxxxx store there at the xxxxx department store, he has complete tools for SE phones. Sounds encouraging.... but I had my hesitations. But nothing to loose anyway, so I went to this "mismatch". He looks like the "warlock" in Die Hard 4, without the beard. He told me in a very confident voice, P3,500, 48 hours. I tried to negotiate, but to no avail. He said he will also pay much to fix it. I was skeptical, especially for the part that he needed 48 hours. Because from what I've researched, things like this get fixed in less than 1 day. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, thinking that my phone's case is special. With the condition that I won't pay a single cent if he will not be able to fix it, I agreed to the price. After 24 hours, I got a text from him...."sir, gawa na phone mo, daanan mo dito mamaya". And so I went, and yes, my phone is working, exactly 1 month after it went dead! Long live the Russians! OK, this one is too long, so I will cut it here and make another post para di masyado mahaba. Quote Link to comment
ironshots
OK, here is the 2nd part of the post.... After I made it sure that all the functions of the phone are working, I paid the agreed amount. There goes my P3,500, which I could have used to buy that mizuno hybrid club for sale at the other site. But I am really happy and excited about it. So, I had a talked with this "mismatch" about what happened. The cause of the problem was really the buggy software of SE. One of the sofware updates has a bug, he can not identify it to me. And it caused a lot of problems to a lot of SE owners who updated their firmware with the SEUS. In addition to this, according to him, when you update your phone's firmware thru SE (SEUS or any other SE method), it tries to lock the phone and put a higher software protection to it. That is what happened to my phone, he said. Before, the original protection was CID 49, but using several times SEUS to upgrade the firmware, the protection became CID 52 <-- this is currently the highest protection for SE phones (just dont mind those numbers, it will take us another page if I try to explain those). Why is SE doing this? They got pissed! Many people in Europe created software tools to crack their phones, and given those software away for free. Their firmware, new and old, can also be found in many sites. People used these free tools/software to upgrade their phones, to "debrand", to open line, and to upgrade by themselves! Now, the last one is interesting - to upgrade! This means upgrading their old units to function as the new phones, by just changing the firmware/software inside the phone. For example, a K750 can be upgraded into a W800 without changing anything in the hardware! Oh, and the Russians! Apparently, the server that was used by mismatch to fix my phone was owned and operated by the Russians. People here buy some credits from those servers, to be able to do some fixing, i.e. open line. For simple things such as "open line", they just connect the phone to their PCs, then connect to the servers in Europe, then hit the correct button and everything goes well. But for serious problems, such as mine, the Russians do it themselves while the phone is connected to the guy's computer here and that computer connected to the Russian server. Mismatch connected my phone to the Russian server 5:00pm the day I brought it to him, and while he was asleep, the Russians were cracking my phone so that they can install the needed software. When he woke up, he could see that software is being downloaded to my phone... At around 4:00pm, everything was completed. So I asked him, why did you say you needed 48 hours? Sagot - "e sir, minsan kasi nag gu-goodtime yung mga russians na yan e! para lang sigurado, kaya sinabi kong 48 hours." So, his advice? Never to upgrade my firmware again using the SE tools. Now, its up to you if you will follow his advice. As for me, I believe him at this time. Again, I do hope you pick something useful, you learn something from this experience. It was one hell of a month, but I love my K800i again! Quote Link to comment

ironshots
magkano kaya pa-openline ng k800i natin? bro, if the software protection of your phone is still CID 49, you can do it by yourself using available FREE software.but if the protection is already CID 52 (updated by SEUS, most probably), then it will be expensive. if you want to know the CID of your phone, you can download XS++ or KulanKendi Client. Just Google them, or if you have troubles finding them, i can email them to you. regards. Quote Link to comment
