have your ears examine again, itchy ear is a sign of fungal infection. I usually give my patients anti-fungal drops for at least 2-4 weeks.

public service messae to all MTC peeps :

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) .she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening

Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 PM Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR . Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S *Ask the individual to SMILE.

T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)

(i.e. It is sunny out today.)

R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately.

New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue.. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other, that is also an indication of a stroke.

yep, it could be that you have an allergic reaction to cold foodstuff, or you could have a problem with your tonsils..

i would suggest that you have a consultation with an ENT specialist who can evaluate your tonsils and oropharyngeal area..

This is a useful piece of information that you may have received before. This is true and it works. You can 'google' Dr Lai Chiu-Nan to find out more about her and the feedbacks of this treatment.

REMOVING GALLSTONES NATURALLY

by Dr Lai Chiu-Nan

It has worked for many. If it works for you please pass on the good news. Chiu Nan is not charging for it, so we should make it free for everyone. Your reward is when someone, through your word of mouth, benefits from the regime. Gallstones may not be everyone's concern. But they should be because we all have them. Moreover, gallstones may lead to cancer. "Cancer is never the first illness," Chiu Nan points out. "Usually, there are a lot of other problems leading to cancer.

In my research in China , I came across some materials which say that people with cancer usually have stones. We all have gallstones. It's a matter of big or small, many or few.

One of the symptoms of gallstones is a feeling of bloatedness after a heavy meal. You feel like you can't digest the food. If it gets more serious, you feel pain in the liver area." So if you think you have gallstones, Chiu Nan offers the following method to remove them naturally.

The treatment is also good for those with a weak liver, because the liver and gallbladder are closely linked.

Regimen:

1. For the first five days, take four glasses of apple juice every day. Or eat four or five apples, whichever you prefer. Apple juice softens the gallstones. During the five days, eat normally.

2. On the sixth day, take no dinner.

3. At 6 PM, take a teaspoon of Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate) with a glass of warm water.

4. At 8 PM, repeat the same. Magnesium sulphate opens the gallbladder ducts.

5. At 10 PM, take half cup olive oil (or sesame oil) with half cup fresh lemon juice. Mix it well and drink it. The oil lubricates the stones to ease their passage.

PS. 1cup=250ml, ½ cup lemon juice=3 lemons (aprox.)

The next morning, you will find green stones in your stools. "Usually they float," Chiu Nan notes. "You might want to count them. I have had people who passes 40, 50 or up to 100 stones. Very many."

"Even if you don't have any symptoms of gallstones, you still might have some. It's always good to give your gall bladder a clean-up now and then.

Too Much Sugar Causes Wrinkles

By Leslie Baumann, M.D. The Skin Guru - Yahoo! Health Expert for Skin Conditions

I love sweet treats as much as the next person so it pains me to say this, but eating too much sugar causes wrinkles. Sugar triggers a natural process called glycation, which is the same chemical reaction that turns meat brown when you cook it. The sugars bind with tissues to form harmful molecules, called advanced glycation end products (ironically known as AGEs), which damage elastin and collagen -- two substances your skin needs to stay supple and elastic. AGEs also damage the kidneys, brain and other essential organs.

A 2007 study in the British Journal of Dermatology found that sugar's effects on the skin begin to show at about age 35 and become more pronounced as you get older. And it's not just the obvious culprits, like soda and candy, that cause damage; other foods with a high glycemic index, like white bread, pasta and potatoes also cause the formation of AGEs, because they are quickly converted to sugar in the bloodstream. To make matters worse, AGEs also make the skin more susceptible to sun damage, which in turn accelerates the glycation process.

It's hard to resist the lure of chips, cookies and french fries, but cutting down on sugary and starchy foods is the first step toward repairing AGE damage and preventing further glycation from occurring.

guys i need your help, lalo na sa mga med profesionals natin..

eto case nung patient ko,

patient med dx: gravida 2 para 2 repeat cs with chronic hypertension and gestational diabetes

medications: metoclopamide 60 mg IV PRN; metoprolol 100 mg BID; hydralazine 5 mg IV PRN; Cefazolin 2g after clamping; ranitidine 5 mg IV q8h

questions: bakit binigyan ng metoprolol kung may gestational diabetes? bakit binigyan ng ranitidine?-dahil ba to prevent mendelson's syndrome?at saka bat may metoclopromide kung d naman nagsusuka ung patient? or dahil some common effects ng other drugs nia eh nausea and vomiting?

It's not my specialty either but anyway...

1. Beta blockers are not absolutely contraindicated in patients with diabetes. We generally avoid giving it to our patients because it masks or hides the symptoms of hypoglycemia. Since your patient is admitted and her blood sugar is being closely monitored, then I don't think it would be a problem.

2. Was your patient under general anesthesia? If she was, then its prudent to give your H2 antagonists to prevent reflux and aspiration. Kung hindi, she was probably given ranitidine to prevent stress gastritis.

3. The metoclopromide was probably ordered in anticipation of postoperative nausea and vomiting. The medications that she's currently taking (metoprolol, hydralazine and cefazolin) don't usually cause such side effects.

Hope this helps.

will do. but i already had ear ddrops for 2 weeks, nawala konte kati at sakit tas bumalik.

now when i pullmy ear lobes it hurts

that's otitis externa , probably a mixture of bacterial and fungal infection based on your history. do you feel any fullness in the affected ear ? any discharge ? decrease hearing ? if yes, then have it examined right away. you'll need an anti-fungal and antibacterial ear drops for your case.
