gift_of_game
foamy urine? some have said that this could be one of the earliest and most subtle signs of impaired renal function BUT really, for the vast majority of instances, it's pretty nonspecific. any number of not-too-serious things could cause urine to foam or bubble more than it should from mild dehydration (urine is more concentrated) to peeing way too fast. if it persists though, don't think twice about seeing your physician as a simple urinalysis can say a lot. (wizard23 @ Oct 11 2008, 05:57 AM) *hi mtc docs. just would like to seek advice on how to lessen "yung madaming bula" everytime i urinate? what is the implication if "madaming bula ang ihi mo" thanks in advance. di ko lang alam kung may research na tungkol sa bula ng ihi, i don't even know the significance of it (maybe my other colleague can enlighten us) para di mabula-damihan mo inom ng tubig (parang sabon din yan! hehehe! joke lang) , wag ipunin ang ihi-ihi ka kahit di ka pa na-iihi para konti lang ang ihi at higit sa lahat HUWAG mo targetin un tubig sa inodoro, sa walang tubig mo target (un pa-slide) un ihi mo o kaya umupo ka pag-umiihi ka. xwhiteshadowz
mga doods, ilan beses ba ideal na puede ka magpa x ray sa isang taon or ano ang tamang interval sa pagpapa xray paki post or beter yet pm pls -----salamat po i agree with sir gift of game...it should not bother you to have a few xrays if warranted..sum patients have xrays daily in some institutions..if it outweighs the condition of the patient and if xrays is really needed.. more concern in individuals who work on radiolabs that are exposed daily and even if they have badges that measures the amount of radiation they still have to wear protective gears such as lead vest and the like..if the levels are high enough then they are obliged to have a short vacation...and other thing..as compared to xrays.. if you have/had ct scanning you are exposed to higher levels or radiation..a hundred fold if my memory serves me right.. hth @wizard - imho yung bula ng ihi is not that credible in diagnosing any ailments may it be urological or systemic.. but i remembered that theres this instance that if ever you noted that your urine is kinda frothy or if you notice that the bubble is kinda yellowish it may suggest a biochemical imbalance in your system more related to your hepatobiliary system < liver and gallbladder > but this is very rare that is more noted in the childhood or adolescence...also note for any color changes in the color of your urine...unless youre dehydrated like what sir gift of game stated which may give you more concentrated/colored urine... check mo din baka kakalinis ng takubets nyo at may naiwan na sabon hehehe kidding! :upside: hth Quote Link to comment

Proteinuria means nagtatapon ka ng protein sa ihi, and is definitely not a good sign since your kidneys should be able to filter them properly. have you BUN, creatinine checked too. blood exam yan. SpecNyt
Doctors of MTC, i have a question about gastro, nutrition, and weightloss.. Un bestfriend ko na girl has had a this problem since we were back in college, she sometimes can't eat, and her upper abdomen hurts. I can't really describe this situation but it just happened suddenly to her long way back. And after awhile she got used to it, and gave up on getting a cure. She went to around more than 10 different doctors in different fields already, from gastro, to internal med and such. She even got this tube put down her throath.. Can't remember the proccess's name.. And everything the doctors were speculating turned out wrong. Like its a new condition or something. In the end we gave up on diagnosing it. Anyway, I'm really worried about her health.. Its been almost 10 years already since she's been having this.. My question would be that my friend eats a lot everyday, she eats breakfast with 2 cups of rice, lunch with 3, and dinner with 3 i think. She's also a monster when it comes to buffets.. But this past 2 years, she's been steadily loosing weight even though she eats like that everyday. Back then when we were in college she still had meat, and now she's thin as a bone. And she's still getting thinner.. Is this weigthloss related with her diet? She doesnt' eat fatty and overly oily foods naman, though a lot of sweets (ie. cakes, cookies, etc). How about worms? Possible kaya? But her stomach doesn't get big naman (I heard this happens when the worm grows right?). I've been asking her if she would want to visit a Nutrisionist, maybe this would help.. Any recommendations? Thanks mga docs! Quote Link to comment
deep_penetration_agent
I think you need to give this a lot of thought. Is your fused hip giving you any significant problem that you are entertaining the thought of having it converted to a THR because if you are very functional already as it is, you may want to delay the procedure for as long as possible. This is because if you undergo a THR now, the clock will start ticking for the implant (because it will eventually wear out and fail) and you WILL BE NEEDING REVISION SURGERY in around 15 to 20 years perhaps entailing replacement of the entire implant. Thus we advise our patients to have this type of surgery done at the latest possible time without significantly sacrificing the patient's comfort and function. That being said, you will probably be needing what arthroplasty surgeons call a FULLY UNCEMENTED SYSTEM OF IMPLANT which, depending on the brand will cost between Php100,000 to 150,000 at its base cost without hospital surcharges. The professional fees, hospital expenses, surcharges and other costs will depend on the orthopedic surgeon and the hospital where you decide to be admitted. In the charity setting in a hospital like PGH, you will only be spending for the implant and the needs for the surgery (implant cost + around Php10 to 15,000). In the private setting, depending on the hospital, you'll be in the 300k to 500k price range. You'll also need to set aside some money for postoperative physical therapy which will be quite intensive considering you've lived on a fused hip for around 20 years and it's going to be a while before you build up enough muscle and retrain yourself to live with a new mobile hip. Hi hint-of-lime, Thank you very for taking time to reply, I really-really do appreciate it. Sorry it took me a while to reply back. The main reason I have decided to consider THR is my 11 month old son. At my current fused hip, it's difficult to take care of a baby this small and there are things that we can't do as a family that would be possible given more flexibility on my legs. There's also work opportunities, discrmination is illegal anywhere, but it's inevitable that a person with walking impairment like myself to miss the short-list due to my "imperfection". Yes I've done some research before and I'm aware that THR components has a shorten life span, but I think in my personal circustance, the risk outweighs the benefit. Thanks again. Any recommendations? Thanks mga docs! i understand your friend's dillemma in having a lot of check ups and even visiting some especialists...just my opinion...as for the weight loss...this may be caused by a lot of factors..so narrowing down to those that may pertain to your friend is that i may be considering an endocrine problem...this is just my opinion basing on what you just said...it may suggest problems regarding her metabolism..like if she is hypermetabolic in case she had hyperactive thyroid or type 2 diabetes that progressed to type 1...since in ten years time there's a great chance for the body to loose weight amidst the proper diet since the pancreas will initially be resistant more resistant to insulin that helps in utilizing the food taken by the body..progressing to non production of insulin which may warrant induction of insulin for therapy...and also im not disregarding malignancy in the case though i may not have a focus as of yet but the weight change may be a sign of possible malignancy...though this is very unreliable as of now since a lot of work ups should be done to rule malignancy out and also basing clinically to her symptoms...as for the worm infestation/infection youre thinking of...it is possible..but in such it wont cause much weight loss as i see it..it may be more important to check the patients blood for any possible anemia that may be caused by massive infestation...the symptoms will be more obvious if ever the parasites increases much in numbers or even migrating to different parts of the body..hth again .this is just my opinion..our seniors/specialists in the room may suggest better that what i said... boygenpact
whats the best morning-after pill? can we get one without prescription? I heard my Nordette sa mercury. Kailangan pa ba ng subscription to have one? Nordette is intended to prevent pregnancy when you have experienced known or suspected contraceptive failure (e.g., broken condom) or have not used contraception. The first dose of Nordette should be taken as soon as possible but within 72 hours of unprotected sex. Nordette is meant for emergency use only and not as a regular method of birth control. Like all oral contraceptives, Nordette does not protect against infection with HIV (the virus which causes AIDS) and other sexually transmitted diseases. Quote Link to comment

mwah
Wrote something about that in another thread. I'll just repost it here. The "morning after pill/s" are just your OCPs with a bigger dose. Just remember that when a woman takes the morning after, she's taking more than the usual amount of estrogen that her body needs. The thing is, she's wrecking havoc on her hormones (plus she might regret later on when she decides to have kids) and there are a number of expected side effects and risks involved like nausea, abdominal pain or excessive vaginal bleeding (could be an ectopic pregnancy or a miscarriage too). Just be aware of the things that you need to watch out for when taking the morning after so you'll know when to consult your MD. The morning after pill is not intended to be used as a regular method of contraception - I usually suggest taking regular OCPs once the next menstrual period starts. Quote Link to comment

Nordette to the best of my knowledge and according to MIMS is NOT a morning after pill. It is not for emergency use only and should be taken on the first day of menstruation like any ordinary contraceptive pills. Then again maybe the MIMS that i'm using is outdated.
