everybody rooted for pacquaio nowadays heheheh....

remember how pacman loses to morales??? pacquaio being in the media everday, every move being watched.. too much distractions, too much hype compared to morales who was in the mountains and totally focus...

translation: Pacman loses in an embarassing defeat....

now, Barrera is more deadlier than morales. and that lose to Pacquaio 4 years ago definitely added to his hunger for revenge.. And if he is to be believe that this will be his last fight, then expect it to be a free for all....

yes he may be 33 y.o. and in the twilight in his career but i bet his hunger is still the same....

Sometimes a braggart like pacquiao needs to kiss the canvass to realize that life is more than boxing....

lets see..

pinoy ka ba???

kung pinoy ka isa ka sa mga dahilan kung bakit di umaasenso ang Piliinas! mga taong inggit sa sa tagumpay ng kapwa nya Pilipino!

kawawang nilalang!

GO PACMAN!!! MANALO MATALO IPAGMAMALAKI KA PA DIN NG PINOY!!!/b]

Manny Pacquiao’s weight a big mystery

October 06, 2007 01:11:00

Recah Trinidad

Inquirer

LAS VEGAS -- Today’s official weigh-in for both Manny Pacquiao and Marco Antonio Barrera has taken on the air of a mystery thriller.

The suspense mounted as both fighters kept their exact poundage a tightly guarded secret ahead of the official weigh test.

The weigh-in is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. today at the Events Center of Mandalay, where the Pacquiao-Barrera rematch will be staged on Saturday (Sunday in Manila).

Who between Pacquiao and Barrera is telling the truth?

Pacquiao, 28, appeared headed for another breeze through the scales with his handlers claiming he had hit peak form two weeks ahead of the fight.

Barrera, 33, submitted his piece of the puzzle during a press conference on Wednesday when he declared he was through with trimming down and training.

“We don’t do anything, we’re done working, we just wait for the fight,” Barrera declared through an interpreter.

That was easy to believe because the unruffled Barrera came to the press conference in black suit and red tie with the calm and dignity of an accomplished top executive.

He also stayed behind to accommodate requests for interviews from various media outfits.

“I have to get my revenge,” the Mexican said, quoted in an Agence France-Presse report.

Pacquiao, in red work-out outfit, rushed out of the Blues Room of the Mandalay Bay and headed for the IBA gym to again work up a sweat, a follow-up to another brisk jog in the morning.

Pacquiao obviously overstayed in the gym as he reported back to his hotel unusually late.

On Friday, Pacquiao had to go again through a rigid morning run.

It could be anything but a routine loosening drill because the Pacman ran wearing a thermal jacket.

There was profuse sweating when he took off the thick outfit before wrapping himself in big, white towels for a brisk rub.

Pacquiao’s handlers claimed he tipped the scales at 131 pounds after a random test immediately following yesterday’s morning run.

However, one informant, who refused to be identified, said Pacquiao registered 134 pounds in the IBA gym before another extended workout in the afternoon.

Tension in Pacman’s suite

Shouldn’t Pacquiao be already in a light, maintenance pace at this stage, instead of continuously going through the grinder?

Pacquiao, if indeed he was already down to 131, was supposed to have only an egg for dinner to ensure he would not exceed the 130-pound super featherweight limit.

It was hard to confirm what Pacquiao had before he went to bed as reports of unusual tension inside his first-class suite on the 61st floor of Mandalay Hotel filtered out.

This was followed by rumors Pacquiao was very irritable last night.

A “strictly no visitors” sign was pasted way ahead of the regular curfew outside the door of his suite.

Penalty for overweight

If Pacquiao indeed had been wrestling desperately with weight woes, this will not be confirmed until this morning.

If he opts to work out again upon waking up, that would answer the puzzle.

As stipulated in the rules, the overweight fighter in the main event will be given two hours to make the grade.

If he still fails to make the weight, the fight proceeds but there would be hefty fines and penalties amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Pacquiao’s WBC International super featherweight title is not at stake in his rematch with Barrera, whom he stopped four years ago.

Internet rumors

Pacquiao was stripped of his WBC flyweight title on the eve of his defense against Medgoen 3-K Battery in Thailand in 1999 after he failed to make the weight on the eve of the championship.

He was knocked out in the actual battle the following day.

As we went to press, one Team Pacquiao insider said he had just gotten a call from Mexican Tony Rivera, a cornerman of Barrera, who wondered why the Pacman continued to work out frantically this late.

“We heard he was still 134 pounds after another hard drill this morning,” the Barrera team assistant reportedly claimed.

He said he got the information through the Internet.

Knockout plan

Meanwhile, trainer Freddie Roach told the Inquirer they would not bother anymore to match even half of the four new “plots” which Team Barrera claimed it had prepared against Pacquiao.

“We stick to only one plan,” Roach said.

What’s that? He was asked.

“We knock him out!”

Pacquiao finished off Barrera in 11 rounds in their 2003 fight.

“It was a total meltdown,” Barrera said of the drubbing he took from Pacquiao. “It was Manny’s night. He took it to me.”

Losing the way he did to Pacquiao has gnawed at Barrera’s pride. He admits as much.

“I’m taking this one personally,” Barrera said.

Barrera, who brings a record of 63-5 with 42 knockouts, has said he will retire after the fight.

Passing the torch

“I’ve been thinking about this for the last three years,” Barrera said. “I talked it over with my wife, my family, my friends. It’s something that I really want to do. I’m ready to pass the torch.”

But Barrera will have his work cut out if he wants to go out a winner against the Boxing Writers Association of America’s Fighter of the Year for 2006.

Pacquiao is 44-3 with two draws and 35 knockouts, stopping Mexico’s Jorge Solis in the eighth round last April in his most recent fight.

The Filipino hero has gone 18-1 with two draws since 1999, losing only in 2005 when Mexico’s Erik Morales took a unanimous decision at Las Vegas. With a report from Agence France-Presse
