moetwisted
NObody just NOBODY can beat Pacman at his weight when he is very well conditioned and prepared and 100% free of distraction...when he is determined to win and hunger factor is his motivation... UNFORTUNATELY, he is COntented where he is right now and doesn't hunger for fame or glory since he feels he already achieved it... the fight VS Barrera is very interesting because we have a FULLY DETERMINED Barrera VS Pacman full of distraction... I won't be surprised if Pacman loses this fight.... Quote Link to comment

dragonei
napanood na kaya niya yung Rocky III? Oh hell yeah!!!!!! I soo agree with this. Malay mo baka si Erik Morales magtrain sa kanya after matalo siya ni Barrera. Afterall Morales hates Barreras gutts naman di ba. Anyway I think Manny has to be a potential undisputed champion, kung talaga lang sanang tutukan niya yung craft niya. Kung kuntento na siya sa narating niya, then he can always retire and concentrate on doing other things like politics or showbiz. Quote Link to comment

gary_gnu
Whatever Pacquiao wants ... By Nikko DizonInquirerLast updated 04:29am (Mla time) 08/10/2007 MANILA, Philippines -- Did boxing champ Manny Pacquiao think he is just taking a bus or was he simply a superstitious prima donna who always has to have his way? In yet another incident with Philippine Airlines, Pacquiao’s grating attitude nearly delayed PAL Flight PR 102 bound for Los Angeles, California, on Aug. 7, airport sources told the Philippine Daily Inquirer Thursday. The sources said that Pacquiao could not make up his mind whether or not to board the flight that was scheduled to take off at 10:30 p.m. It was nearly 10 p.m. and most of the passengers had already boarded the plane when Pacquiao and his party decided not to take the flight, prompting airline ground personnel to start offloading their luggage, the sources narrated. But in less than 10 minutes, the sources said, Pacquiao changed his mind and decided he wanted to proceed to the United States where he would be training for his October grudge match against Mexican fighter Marco Antonio Barrera. Another problem, though, was that Pacquiao wanted his corner man, Restituto Fernandez, to be on the flight with him. But Fernandez was on standby in the economy section. Pacquiao reportedly called up PAL president Jaime Bautista. It was a move that reportedly irked not a few people at the airport because Pacquiao’s call to the airline bigwig implied his “backing” by the powers-that-be at PAL, the sources said. Superstitious “It got some of the people thinking that maybe Pacquiao was superstitious, wanting his corner man to travel with him,” the sources said. Ultimately, Fernandez managed to get a seat, after Rex “Wakee” Salud, the boxer’s business associate and confidante who was traveling with him in first class, gave up his seat. Bautista told the Inquirer it was one of Pacquiao’s friends who phoned him and not the boxer himself. “The news that I received was that he (Pacquiao) wanted his trainer to be with him.” PAL did not give Pacquiao special treatment, Bautista said. He explained that the airline simply allowed Salud to swap his seat since he was a booked passenger on the flight and a business class ticket was purchased for Fernandez, an upgrade from his economy ticket. Asked if an ordinary passenger could do the same half an hour before takeoff, Bautista said that the airline would allow it as long as the passenger, like Salud, was already booked, and a ticket would be purchased. No last-minute switching But the Inquirer sources insisted that no airline allows a “switching” of passengers, especially at the last minute. Told that Pacquiao seemed to have been involved in some incidents with PAL, Bautista said he did recall one incident but it was a “minor one.” Pacquiao had once earned the ire of airport and airline employees when he almost delayed a flight to Hong Kong after arriving at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport late and appeared not to be rushing to catch the flight.
Barrera is slim picking for Pacman IF ANS ONLY IF Pacman has his head on straight. Meaning, he has to train hard and to train properly. He just has so much drama now. I just wonder if his antics will be his very own undoing. triton
Last update: 08-12-2007 Submitted by Ronnie Nathanielsz Pacquiao Abandons Countrymen, Returns Home Recommend this page Printable version By Ronnie Nathanielsz Manny Pacquiao who was named captain of Team Philippines in the World Cup showdown against Mexico at the Arco Arena on Sunday discarded the honor and flew back to Manila without informing either trainer Freddie Roach or Golden Boy Promotions Oscar De La Hoya who were scheduled to fly in a private jet to Los Angeles to pick up Pacquiao and take him to Sacramento. Filipino fight fans were disappointed when Pacquiao failed to show up at the weigh in while Juan Manuel Marquez who had replaced Marco Antonio Barrera as Mexico’s team captain was there. The disappointment turned to anger when he failed to show up in support of his fellow Filipino boxers with fans blasting him for being unpatriotic, unprofessional and a swellhead. Australian Michael Katsidis who defeated Czar Amonsot in an WBO lightweight title war recently stepped into the ring in the Filipino’s corner wearing a jacket with the Philippine flag and cheered them on in every fight winning both the respect and the gratitude of fight fans for his gesture. Pacquiao reportedly flew back aboard an early morning Philippine Airlines flight with boyhood friend and trainer Restitito “Buboy” Fernandez and sneaked out of the arrival area at the Centennial Terminal. A few hours later Pacquiao played a pickup game of basketball on one of the courts at the Alabang Village along with former PBA star Jerry Codinera and TB host and Manila Standard Today columnist Anthony Suntay. Suntay said he didn’t ask Pacquiao why he returned but stressed “considering he just got off a plane after a long flight he was in very good shape.” Close friend and confidant Rex “Wakee” Salud confirmed that Pacquiao was flying to Cebu but said he did not know the reasons for his sudden departure from Los Angeles after training at the Wild Card Gym of Roach and in the words of Roach ”looking good.” Salud said he couldn’t find out the real reason unless he spoke to Pacquiao personally. There were various speculations over why he left including reports that he asked for a $1 million dollar advance on his purse for the rematch with Barrera on October 6 and apparently didn’t get it. There were also rumors that he resented a story in which De La Hoya reportedly lectured him about his responsibilities. Pacquiao had earlier postponed his departure for the US no less than five times and forced promoters Golden Boy and Bob Arum’s Top Rank to postpone a press conference they had set up at the plush Beverly Hills Hotel which incurred some costs. He also came under fire for delaying the PAL flight to LA by one hour last week, earning the ire of passengers as he couldn’t make up his mind whether to leave or not. Roach denied reports that Pacquiao left because he had an argument with his celebrated trainer. In an overseas telephone conversation with Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today, Roach said “that’s a lie. We didn’t have an argument.” Roach said he had “no idea” what the problem was buy indicated if Pacquiao planned to train at the new gym of “Wakee” Salud in Cebu and “if he wants me to train him in Cebu for the first month, I’ll come over.” ano nga ba ang dahilan? magkano nga ba ang dahilan? ang daming tanong walang sagot. nairita? na bad trip? nainis? o balak nang mag basketball ni pacman.
