It's no secret that promoters do this. Why afraid of JMM? First off, I believe Pacman lost to him in the first fight and was lucky to get away with a draw. Marquez is not that strong nor that fast. But what he has is a confusing style. It's akin to the jeet kune do style of contra-tiempo. JMM gets the rythm of his opponent, then attacks him "in-between beats". It takes a real master to do this. Juan Marquez is one such master. Pacman's chance against such a style is too simply overwhelm the guy, like what he did in the first round of their first fight. Any longer, and if the fight is scored fairly, and Juan Miguel Marquez will win. Kay Juan Manuel Marquez ko lang nakita naging Inutil si Pacquiao.....Lalo na nung mga huling rounds....Hindi talaga makaporma....Dinahilan na ni Manny yung Big Toe nya...... First, let me tell you that I am a BIG Manny Pacquiao fan. I am however not averse to calling a spade a spade. As to Manny's excuse, let me tell you this, I covered sports (as a reporter) for maybe 10 years (?); and let me tell you now that NO ONE actually loses these matches without an excuse. Heck, I've heard one marathoner complain that the reason he lost was because he got tired! (hehehe... konting exageration lang pre). For Manny to beat Marquez, he needs to overwhelm the guy. This is one fighter he can not outbox. If you notice, Manny is not too keen in meeting the guy again (Marquez being the champion and all). This is one fight that Manny does not want to fight (if he can help it). He'd rather slug it out with Valera (the tricycle driver demolisher). Pero, sa ngayon inisin talo muna ni Manny. Great psychological ploy. Manny is the main draw. He gets to pick and choose his opponents. Hey, even the lightweights are now "excited" over the news that Manny might be moving up. brawler201 Posted October 9, 2007 Share Posted October 9, 2007 JMM is a bad fight because of the contrasting styles. He's not even a top draw. The only thing going for him is his belt. But Pacquiao can go after the lesser title holders in the 130 lbs. division if he is only after belts (I want him to get one at 130 lbs. to make him the first Asian to get three world titles in different weight classes). At this point, boxing is not only about heart, blood and guts for him, it's also a business (that's why he wants to fight 3-4 top draw fights a year for the next 2-3 years). And JMM is definitely bad for business. Pacquiao doesn't have to prove anything anymore. He's been at the bottom of the pecking order already and already paid his dues. Bring on the next cash cow.
