Exercise regularly and moderately (don't overdo it.) Manage stress. Think positive. Sleep well. Have meaningful relationships. Have a goal and challenge yourself. The last two are just as important. Whatever you're preoccupied with mentally and emotionally will eventually reflect on your physical health---really. Depression has been known to affect the immune system. Should you find yourself in a situation wherein this is unavoidable, however, just recognize your body's limitations and act accordingly. Take it easy.
