Fuel Saving Tips

hmm... talaga? magpalagay nga ng RPM meter. magkano bang damage magpalagay nito? grabe pare ha? 5k! dami na nating makukuhang chix niyan ah...

:D

hehe oo nga e.. pangmotel rin yun.. la e, byahe ko valenzuela to paranaque everyday.. kaya nga aside from changing my driving habits, commute na rin ako at least once a week para mabawasan pa further ang gastos. ok na lrt ngayon e, di na siksikan

mention na rin natin yung prolonged idling... and planned route, the straighter or shorter the better..of course take in to consideration the traffic in the area, ok lang yung route na medjo malayo kung dire direcho lang, baka in the long run mas tipid ka pa sa gas kesa naka buro ka sa traffic..

ako nga mga 5K pa in a month ang gasolina ko until i tried the driving tip i read sa inquirer; yung mag upshift ka before the tach reaches 2000 rpm. ewan ko kung ano ang implications in the long term, pero right now, my gas consumption is down to less than 4K! i hope wala namang negative effect. the only consequence right now is madali na ko masingitan ng mga hinayupak na jeep at taxi kasi nga mabagal na ko magaccelerate.

oo nga... have been trying as early as today yung 2000 rpm change shift, nga lang, medyo bad trip nga kasi kapag hatawan (especially sa coastal road / talaba area) during stop and go (yung one way lahat papunta manila), pucha, kapag babagal-bagal ka sisingitan ka ng walang katapusan... long term effect? given na medyo hirap ang makina sumungkit ng bwelo, probably effects (if any) would be later on, say, after 5 to six years na ganyan...

you're right! what an idiotic article!

aside from the brakes, you will have a hard time steering yourself off danger since your power steering wont be working.

if u wanna save gas, commute! or ride a bike. or walk. or carpool. or buy a vehicle that guzzles up minimal gas (like a kia picanto  or a honda jazz)

if only the government do something to make public commuting an inhorrible experience, we'll be saving a lot of gas... but they too are idiots.

ha? me article bang ganyan? WTF... bobo writer dyan... malamang either brand new pa auto nyan, o insured sya, both life and car, or bobo lang talaga...

...save gas on commuting... or even, kung kaya mo mag-bike, i-bike mo na lang, exercise na, cool ka pa...!!!

... i consume 1900 on full tank ......

i gas up 6 times a week ......

malakas diba ? it would be better if you just buy a fuel efficient sedan ...that of a Toyota .... 1300 or 1800 ..pag 2.0 binili mo .. mabilis nga .. ubos naman pera mo...

tama yun nagshi-shift agad when accelerating para tipid sa gas .. u don't need a tachometer .. matatantiya mo na yun ... pag nakreklamo na makina mo sa gear mo .. u need to shift .. better if u shift bago siya magreklamo ...... yun ang matipid...

it all depends on the driver .... kung mabigat ang paa mo sa gas .. e problema mo na yun ....u don't need to step on it that hard... if u want to save .. don't use velocity ... high octane madali masunog ng makina .... unleaded na lang .. yun din naman ang pinakamurang gas e .... :hypocritesmiley:

grabe na mahal ng gasolina ngayon no? in a few months, the cost has risen by almost 20% already and it seems that there's no end in sight. meron ba kayong mga tips para makatipid sa consumption ng gasolina? ako meron isa, i read in the inquirer that upshifting once the tachometer reaches 2000 rpm results in lower consumption. and when i tried it, it worked! my usage has dropped by more than 40%.

Shifting to the next higher gear upon reaching 1,500 to 2,000 rpm helps save a lot on gas consumption. Avoiding jackrabbit starts and revving in neutral can help too. And, of course, making sure that you follow your car's preventive maintenance schedule can contribute to fuel savings.

Drive a turbo diesel (TD). They are at least 20 percent more efficient than a gas engine of the same (pulling power) torque output. And the modern electronically controlled ones (Mercedes TD/BMW TD) accelerate just like a gas engine, for 20 percent less fuel cost.

But if you have already staked your money on a gas engine car...yari ka na bata.

I beg to differ. Do not use unleaded and velocity if you want to save. Use the mid-range level (xcs and premium) as these are the most efficient with regards to fuel consumption. try it and you will see. ;)

i also agree to the idea of upshifting when you reach 2000 rpm. I'm driving an automatic car. My fuel consumption increased from est 6 km/lt to 7 km/lt by switching to premium fuel and from est 7 km/lt - 8 km/lt by maintaing my rpm at 2000 80% of the time.

"Unleaded" and "premium" by Shell/Caltex/Petron actually have the same octane, its the additive package they put in that differentiates the two grades. Check out the gas pump stickers (upper righthand side of the pump) they will both indicate 93 RON.

I guess the marketing boys did a good job of convincing people of getting the "premium" brand. The real premiums are the Petron 98/Velocity/Caltex gold.

Get an manual tranny, that should be a real gas saver...

nakikidaan lang, pwede bang mag contribute. i have a galant 93 gti medyo malaks. pero here are some of the things i do.

1. planned trips

2. remove unecessary stuffs in the car

3. maintainance

4. no jack rabbit starts

5. STUPIDITY yung papatayin yung engine

6. take the jeep if you can

7. shifting the gears when the tach hits 2000 rpm saves gas but sometimes the engine pings

yeah... commuting is a relatively nice way of saving gas... lalo na kung mag-isa ka lang gumagamit ng auto mo (meaning, wala kang sakay or kasabay), might as well commute... if, you could commute...

...indeed, the engine pings sometimes... also, para bang kapos sa bwelo yung auto mo... pero, i've been trying lately... and, seems good... consumption decreased relatively...
