xcholox
It's up to the person on creating his "future" just like what xcholox has pointed out. It's how someone carreer path's oneself that matters not the industry. On the other hand, it's also good that a lot of people are hesistant in trying out working for a call center, this means less competition for those who are already in this line of business hehe..<{POST_SNAPBACK}> hehe, but there is always plenty to go around. Remember, CCs earn by th number of people they have on the phones  so there is always room for someone who wants in. :headsetsmiley: Quote Link to comment

It's just unimaginable how big it can become here too. :headsetsmiley: I guess it's up to us to help it grow. Quote Link to comment
l3v3l
If you ask me I'll say yes! Outsourcing business is big savings for big US companies. And it only makes sense for them to continue doing so as competition gets stiffer. Aangat ba ako, I would say yes too, I'm as old as some fresh grads out there but I have almost 100 people under me. The best thing about Call Center promotions is that its very quantified, you get promoted based on your numbers (performance) not someones decision, so in essence you do control your fate.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Even if this is baseless, I believe or should I say, I have observed from my previous CC experience that promotions are not quantified based on your performance and knowledge.. its more of a 'who-you-know' thing... our American trainers before were very fair with promotions but now..their Filipino counterparts are doing their 'Filipino' thing.. that is why I RESIGNED... :goatee: :goatee: :goatee: Quote Link to comment
luol_deng
hey guys here in australia call centres are very rewarding esp for IT field, once i finished my Information Technology course IT jobs were so hard to find. I joined a call centre for a major communications company answering customer enquries etc , six months later i applied internal for a help desk position from there Im now as a Network System Analyst. $75,000 a year....Hard work truly does pay off!!! :headsetsmiley: Quote Link to comment

A prime example is our government.. Knowledge, skills and performance can never be beaten by this kind of attitude. Always remember my friend that the strong will always survive. Yes filipinos have this thing about favoring people they know, I can also go into that but I'd probably ask for nothing short of your soul. . hehehe. Which is why I would rather look at what is quantified, and favorable to the business or in simple terms, "whoever generates the most money in the best way possible". Thats what running a company is all about, everything else is secondary. Quote Link to comment

strong_cock
Here's some thoughts for you my friend.. I started as what people call an "answering machine" "human IVR" etc.. but I didn't get dissapointed though so here's what I am now.. just to encourage those agents who might be reading this -I'm just in my late 20's and my salary is almost the same as my dad's, he's 54.-I'm just 2 steps away from a director position.-I have "worldclass" training under my belt. And the training doesn't stop.-I'm getting tired of travelling to the US and and parts of the Phil.-Skills that I have learned from this industry can match that of a director of a local multinational company. -lastly, you get tired of shopping on paydays.. and this is with your own hard earned money.. hehe What buknoy have posted are all true. That's how "we" laugh it off as our way of releasing stress. If we don't do that our lives will be boring as hell..<{POST_SNAPBACK}> How much does a person earns approximately who's 2 steps away from a position as a director nowadays? Quote Link to comment

madmutt
i started out as an agent. when i started in this industry, i really did not see myself lasting in it because i felt it was not really a career. i only gave myself 3 months. after almost 3 years, where am i now? still in the same industry. i found it very rewarding and fits my lifestyle exactly. i had so many friends telling me to get out of the call center industry because they say i'm just wasting my time. minamaliit nila ang ang mga taga-call center. pero after 6 months in the industry, i saw how fast you can actually grow, career-wise. i know there is the "its-who-you-know" mentality but i think that's relative to the company. its all about your performance. if you applied for a call center and expect to be paid the salary you are expecting, you have to take calls. that is how the company profits, the amount of calls taken and how fast they are resolved. if you expect doing nothing, just get another job and be happy. the people who i see succeding in this industry are the ones who really don't care if they take calls or not. if they were asked to take calls, in a heartbeat they will. just think of it, its the easiest job in the world. even if the caller is the crankiest person in the world, you can still take the call....they won't see what you are doing. just don't take anything personally. its a job so treat it like one. kahit na sabihin mo na, sumasagot lang ako ng calls....you still need to be professional about it right. to my fellow Call Boys and Call Girls, more power to you all. right now, i'm a Team Manager and i've been through everything that you have. the higher you go the more pressure you will encounter. this industry is rewarding, its just how you make of it. kasi wala namang trabaho na madali kung meron at pareho sa sweldo ko ngayon, lilipat na agad ako. tiyaga lang mga kaibigan, para may nilaga. ayan nagutom tuloy ako Quote Link to comment
Flash Sentry
In any job, the higher you go, the more pressure there is, basically. I'm new to the call center (have yet to start training this Monday), but I know it is rewarding (well, any job is really, if you put yourself into it). Hopefully I'll see myself in the same position as those of you who have been there for a good while now. Quote Link to comment
skankarella
staying up late at night is not so bad kasi the whole floor is alive kaya lang when you get home, you're just too tired. kahit na you get 8 hours of sleep, iba pa rin to get sleep at night. Quote Link to comment
