  4. San Miguel Beer and Sta. Lucia Realty used searing final-half runs to roll past separate foes Monday night in the 2007 PBA Pre-Season Tournament at the Marikina Sports Complex.

The Beermen whipped the Coca-Cola Tigers, 126-116, while the Realtors drubbed the Red Bull Barakos, 132-114, as they stayed on equal footing in Group A with two wins apiece.

Joseph Yeo, Paolo Mendoza, Bitoy Omolon and Melvin Mamaclay each scored at least 17 points as the Realtors overwhelmed the Barakos in their debut in the pre-season event.

San Miguel seized the lead at halftime on a buzzer-beating alley-oop shot by Danny Seigle, and the Beermen raged on in the final half en route to the 10-point win.

The Tigers took control in the early goings, enjoying double-digit spreads but couldn’t keep in step as the Beermen pressed their bid in the second half.

Danny Ildefonso and Rico Villanueva imposed their strength underneath and the Beermen toughened up on defense as they made their back-breaking run in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers practically bombed out of contention for the one-game Finale on a second straight loss.

Cesar Catli, a transferee from Sta. Lucia, went 6-of-9 from three-point land but limped out of the court with 6:15 left to play on a bad fall.

Ildefonso, Seigle and Villanueva each scored at least 17 with Dondon Hontiveros, LA Tenorio and Lordy Tugade all adding 11 or more. Ali Peek paced the Tigers with 22.

The Tigers got off to a strong start, racing to a 26-17 lead but the Beermen were quick to pull even at 26-all on a run highlighted by back-to-back hits by Tugade.

Coca-Cola closed the first quarter at 30-28 and again established control at 44-33 behind the exploits of Ricky Calimag and Catli.

But the Beermen clawed their way back through the efforts of Ildefonso and Villanueva. SMB eventually pulled ahead on a buzzer-beating shot by Seigle off an alley-oop pass by Jonas Villanueva. (NC)

  5. Got this from manila bulletin

    San Miguel eyeing Telan

    By WAYLON GALVEZ

MARK CLEMENCE Telan, one of the versatile forwards in the league, will have another "home" in the coming PBA All-Filipino conference.

That is if the negotiation between San Miguel and Telan’s mother team, Air21, would push through.

A realiable source told the Bulletin that San Miguel is keen on getting the 6-foot-7 Telan to boost their title campaign in the All-Filipino tournament.

The Express management had earlier offered Telan a two-year extension but het has yet to sign up pending the offer of San Miguel. Purefoods has also expressed interest of getting Telan.

The Beermen are even willing to give Gabby Espinas in exchange of Telan.

Telan started his career with then Tanduay Rhum when the team made a comeback in 1999. The following year, he was traded to Shell, where he blossomed and won the Most Improved Player award in the 2000 season.

He also suited up for Talk ‘N Text before joining Air21 last season.

Meantime, San Miguel finalized the other day its 3-to-1 trade that sent the sweet-shooting Fonacier to the Beermen while Red Bull took Brandon Cablay, Kiko Adriano and opted for 6-foot-7 center Omanzie Rodriguez, instead of guard Chris Calaguio.

Espinas was selected by San Miguel as the fifth overall pick in last year’s PBA Rookie Draft, but he saw limited minutes in two conferences.

  6. Me too.

    Matanong ko lang ah.

Medyo Off topic to pero why do you like Tekken instead of Soul Calibur?

    Although same company

Well soul caliber is more of a button mashers game.... In tekken I can only do that with eddie gordo/christie

  7. well, gaya ng sabi ko maaga magbabakasyon ang beermen....HAPPY VACATION!

Ok lang yun mas maaga vacation ng Coca-Cola

Good Game by the Beermen... even though they don't have two of their top scorers in Seigle and Hontiveros and a shooter in Tugade... Sayang, nanood pa naman si Valerie Concepcion :)

No more what if's, like what if Galen Young made an extra free throw so that he was 4 of 8 instead of 3 of 8... or if LA Tenorio did not commit an offensive foul in the last play...

    Next season na lang :thumbsupsmiley:

  8. Tekken 6 Storyline

The Tekken 6 story has been posted on the popular Japanese Tekken resource site, Sunlight Yellow. The news cited is from the June issue of Arcadia Magazine’s Tekken 6 feature. Here is a brief synopsis of the story and character profiles that were posted on our forum, thanks to Hamstar.

    Storyline

Jin Kazama then assumes the role as head of the Mishima Zaibatsu and begins using the special Tekken force units for propaganda and manipulative acts all over the world. Eventually many people become upset by this and it starts riots and eventually war amongst nations.

With the world now at war, many nations lose their power and the Mishima Zaibatsu declares itself as an independent nation.

The Mishima Zaibatsu is intent on conquering the world with only G Corporation to stand in its way. People around the world see G Corporation as a savior and G Corporation offers a price on Jin Kazama to anyone that can bring him in alive.

Just as anyone could have expected, the announced for the 6th King of Iron Fist Tournament was under way.

Those that want to make a name for themselves, those that seek money, and those that want revenge. Many different ideals and goals gather while the Tekken 6 tournament is unveiled.

    Leo Profile

Leo’s father is a world famous detective. Leo wants to become just like her father. Her father ends up missing before the tournament is announced.

Leo’s mother works in the same G Corporation division that may have betrayed Kazuya. Leo lived happily with her mother until she is murdered.

The murder investigation ends abruptly and after mourning Leo decides to take matters into her own hands.

Upon further investigation into the murder, Leo notices that a name, Kazuya Mishima keeps showing up and then decides to enter the next Iron Fist Tournament to get her revenge.

    Zafina Profile

Zafina is a guardian to the tomb of a royal family at a village that has been around for centuries. The sealed grave is believed to protect the well being of the tribe.

Many martial artists have tried to enter the tomb but Zafina has single handedly defeated them all.

Zafina follows the ideals of astrology and finds out that something very bad is going to happen, something that could possibly lead to the end of the world.

One day the village elders prophesize that when two “evil stars” meet, the seal on the graves will be broken and the world end.

Zafina leaves the village to see if the world is really going to end.

    Heihachi Profile

After being assaulted by the Jack force, Heihachi wakes up only to find out that the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 has already ended.

Trying to avenge his fallen Manji clan comrades, while going after Bryan Fury, Yoshimitsu realizes that his sword is weakening.

His sword is a cursed blade. By killing evil doers and villains the sword would retain its power, otherwise the cursed sword will make the user go insane.

Yoshimitsu realizes that he can no longer use his old sword and decides to use another blade that seals the properties of the cursed sword. He then decides to enter the King of Iron Fist 6 Tournament.

    Kazuya Profile

Kazuya Mishima has figured out which division of G Corporation was the one that betrayed him and viciously killed them all.

Kazuya has now risen to the head of G Corporation in the shadows.

The world is now against the Mishima Zaibatsu and Kazuya fuels the fire by leading G Corporation against it.

Kazuya can’t stand anyone else conquering the world other than himself so he decides to go against Jin Kazama and the Mishima Zaibatsu.

Kazuya realizes that G Corporation is very influential amongst the people of the world now and he announces that anyone who captures Jin Kazama alive will receive a handsome cash reward.

Immediately following his announcement, the King of Iron Fist 6 Tournament is announced by the Mishima Zaibatsu. Kazuya predicted this would happen and began to laugh hysterically.

  9. SMB FINALLY GETS ONE OVER ALASKA

Tenorio, Ildefonso come off the bench to lead Beermen

    Sunday, 24 June 2007

San Miguel Beer is again back in business.

Forty-eight hours after being utterly outclassed by the Alaska Aces, the Beermen got back fighting with great resolve Sunday night and avoided falling into a 0-3 hole no team in PBA playoff history has ever gotten out of.

San Miguel Beer played a well-balanced game with Danny Ildefonso and LA Tenorio delivering huge numbers coming off the bench as the Beermen drubbed the Aces, 91-81, in Game Three of their 2007 Talk ‘N Text PBA Fiesta Conference best-of-seven semifinals series at the Araneta Coliseum.

"At least, we’ve got one. The key was making it sure we do things correctly. It’s tough to beat Alaska if you commit many mistakes. They’re scrappy and good at the same time," said coach Siot Tanquingcen as his troops narrowed down the Aces’ lead in the series at 2-1.

"It’s hard to hold them down. They’re big and strong. We have to battle and don’t let them outhustle us," Tanquingcen added.

The Beermen did all those things Sunday to get back in the thick of things in the season-ending tourney where they have become the "Miracle Team."

Galen Young led all players in scoring and rebounds with 22 points and 12 caroms with Ildefonso and Tenorio adding 18 and 16 points, respectively, although playing limited minutes this time.

"It showed that we don’t necessarily need one or two guys playing big. We need a total team effort," said Tanquingcen.

Ildefonso and Tenorio proved themselves to be ideal subs, supplying the team instant offense coming off the bench.

And saving their best for last, Ildefonso and Tenorio, more importantly, delivered lethal blows on the Aces at the finish.

The two combined for 16 of the Beermen’s 28 points in the final quarter with a triple by Tenorio breaking Alaska’s back at 89-81 with time down to 1:11.

But it was a fierce battle until the Beermen got that margin.

Willie Miller, who had his breakthrough game in the series Friday, titillated the crowd with back-to-back three-pointers as the Aces came within two at 77-79.

But after Ildefonso answered with a short stab, Miller had their fans moaning and groaning as he tried another three-pointer that didn’t hit the rim then let Brandon Cablay complete a three-point play in transition on a useless foul.

Alaska used a nine-point lead to cushion the impact of San Miguel’s strong second-quarter finish as the Aces took the half at 42-41.

The Aces led by nine at 40-31 before the Beermen made a 10-2 run to close the first 24 minutes of play.

The Beermen sustained their charge in the third quarter and surged ahead by eight at 54-46 before settling for a 63-61 edge going into the final canto. (NC)

    The scores:

    San Miguel Beer 91 – Young 22, Ildefonso 18, Tenorio 16, Cablay 10, Gonzales 7, Villanueva 7, Calaguio 5, Wilson 4, Racela 2, Pena 0.

    Alaska 81 – Cortez 14, Ellis 14, Miller 12, Belasco 9, Thoss 8, Hugnatan 8, Ferriols 8, Cariaso 6, Laure 2.

    Quarterscores: 19-24, 41-42, 63-61, 91-81

Those were the days... Samboy Lim, Hec Calma, Norman Black, Ricky Brown, Yves Dignadice, Mon Fernandez... pre-Shell Bobby Parks, Michael Young (tama ba? tanda ko na...), sino pa ba?

The Grand Slam team... Isa pang reason bakit di ko matanong si (tito) Abet nun. Nung nasa Magnolia/SMB sya nun, grand slam ang Magnolia...grand slam na 3rd place sa lahat ng conference!

    Ang naalala ko:

    #4 - Elmer Reyes

    #5 - Franz Pumarin

    #6 - Renato Agustin

    #7 - Alfie Almario

    #9 - Samboy Lim

    #10 - Alvin Teng

    #11 - Tonichi Ytturi

    #12 - Yves Dignadice

    #14 - Hector Calma

    #17 - Jeffrey Graves

    #19 - Ramon Fernandez

    #20 - Bobby Jose

May nakalimutan ba ako?

  11. Well, alaska.... is boring

TNT? Hmmmm.... ang pwedeng scuffle doon ay yung mga dating lasalle vs. ateneo....

  12. im a fan of smb since 1991... hehe. thats the time of samboy lim. Sana magchampion sila this conference. I think ok naman na si Danny I and Enrico so wala na dapat problema. Tulungan na lang sila para magchampion SMBeer!
