  1. BROKENHEARTED MAN (incomplete)

Give me your shoulder to lean on

Give me your lips to caress

give me the love that I long for

I promise you I'll give you all that I have

Pick up the pieces of a broken man, babe

    he's sorry can't you see?

Pick up the pieces of a broken man

    you're every part of me

  2. Has anyone of you read Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns"?

Excellent story, it portrays Batman who comes out of retirement to fix a growing menace in Gotham City.  As he once again resorts to the same tactics that had made him legendary (and controversial), he comes face to face with the Superman - who, after being availed of by the US government as a superagent of the state, has been tapped to contain the Batman "threat" to law and order.

It was then inevitable that the two would battle each other.  Impossibly, Batman won!  How?  Read the comic book, hehehe.

For my money, this is the greatest batman story ever told.

    Interesting story line....

Are there copies of that issue still being sold here in Manila?

    :D

Yup, I bought my copy in Powerbooks Megamall....but it gets sold out too fast. I suggest that you scan every Filbars Store that you know....some of them (like the katipunan branch) even have a hardbound version. Also in Katipunan is Central Comic Headquarters (CCHQ) at the 3rd floor of the FBR building in front of theAteneo. CCHQ has a very wide range of collections both eastern and western comics.

"The Dark Knight Returns" by Frank Miller (along with "Watchmen" by Alan Moore), actually spurred the rise of the adult-genre comic books, which were subsequently referred to as "graphic novels". DKR story is every bit of a Batman story, Miller's masterful portrayal of the aging Bruce Wayne is human to the very core.

  4. I like DC better than Marvel because DC writers seem to be better in Drama and other serious topics. My favorites in the DC universe are Superman and Batman.

However, the one I like the most doesn't belong to the DC universe in the same way as Superman and Batman are. I'm talking about the SANDMAN (aka Morpheus aka Oneiros aka Shaper of Forms aka Dream Lord aka Prince of Stories).

Are any of you DC Vertigo fans? If you are, then you'd might want to check out my Sandman thread somewhere in the lobby.

  5. Have any of you guys read Kingdom Come? It's a DC story set when all the superheroes had gotten old and were trying to make things right again when the new super heroes have begun fighting amongst themselves totally disregarding the principles of Truth and Justice.

Very good read. Alex Ross' artwork was magnificent.

  6. "Never mind that I saw you f*cking a guy in our bed. I just don't think it was very fair on your part to use the air-con when we both know that the electric bill has been our bane since we have started living together.

"And, oh, when you have been through packing, please be a darling and cook me some of your special sausage linguini pasta before you leave for good. Your best friend Chloe absolutely loves it. You should have seen her playing with it during one of our lovemaking sessions while you were away at work."

  7. Never in my studying life did I cheat. Promise! Ako pa nga ang konokopyahan eh B) Nagpapakopya naman ako, basta friend ko. Ano ba mas masama, nangongopya o nagpapa-kopya?

Hmmm... Sa unang tingin parang mas masama yung nangongopya kesa dun sa nagpapakopya. Pero, in theory, pareho lang yung effect nun. making someone a cheater is just as "bad" as being a cheater yourself. 'di ba?

Sorry, masyado kasing sensitive topic sa akin ito eh. Muntik na akong hindi mag-graduate ng college dahil tumanggi akong mandaya. Yun kasi "problema" ko nung college eh, di na nga ako nangongopya, tamad pa ako mag-aral.

  8. the last time I cheated was when I was in 2nd year high school. Since then, I never did it again. I just realized that my teachers were right when they told me that i was only cheating myself whenever I cheated.

I'm particularly proud of the fact that I never let the batch bully (who was my seatmate) cheat at my expense even if he threatened me with all sorts of beatings for one whole schoolyear.
