  1. Many thanks, Doc and Sir Floppy!

Actually, most of my builds contain scratchbuilt upgrade parts because, as I told my colleagues, Im too cheap to buy aftermarket. :D No, seriously, I prefer scratchbuilding kasi I enjoy the challenge.

The only aftermarket items I buy regularly are decals. Kasi most kit-supplied decals (expecially yung Japanese brands) turn yellow in only a few years. Kakainis youd spend several months building a model and then maninilaw lang yung decals.

    Sir Doc,

Sayang nga talaga yan!! If they cant be restored they could be used for spare parts. Many of my friends are looking for spare parts for their own kits, baka pwede yan. Hehehe!

  2. Sir Caloyski,

Thanks, thanks! The downside nga with extra details is that output lessens considerably. Its not unusual for me nowadays to take up to 4 months to build a single kit. Yung isang 1/32 FA-18 ko it took me a whole year to build.

Pero as your collection builds up okay din to take it a little slower, kasi sooner or later youll run out of space to park your kits.

    Doc,

Yes, its Hasegawa. But believe it or not, there isnt any aftermarket item on this plane. All the extra details I made from scratch. Hehehe!

Supermario (thats what we call him), makes excellent kits. I wonder what he'll be entering this year.

  3. Great looking kits, Doc!! Thanks for sharing!

Nice Fort, Caloyski. I have a friend who's a real Fortress fanatic.

Btw, here are pics of a 1:48 FA-18F I built for a friend:

  4. Caloy,

Theres a store in Makati Cineman Square (Hobbies and Comics), and another one with a few kits in Market Market.

I suggest keeping a single scale for your collection. Youd be able to appreciate the size differences of the various makes. I also go for 1/72 for planes. Although I build fast jets. Hehehe!

  5. Ahehehe! This hobby really does get addicting. Without exaggeration, I already have 3 1/2 balikbayan boxes filled with kits. I dont know if Id ever be able to build even half of them in my lifetime. Hehehe!

Parehas tayo. I build all-around din. In our club we call ourselves SEALs. SEa Air and Land builders. Hehehe!

  6. Manhivin,

Yes, we do. You can find Hasegawa kits at all Lils outlets (Quad, MegaMall and Trinoma). Old Revell (US) kits are pretty hard to come by these days, but newer (and better) Revell Germany kits are available at JMNs in Harrison and Hobbies and Comics in Makati Cinema Square.

  7. Sorry for the late reply, Doc. Was out of town almost the whole week.

Im glad you saw the exhibit. I was there yesterday and Saturday. I think you saw only the Philippine armor entries. There were other 1/35 armor kits, in fact.

Thanks for the suggestion. Its a valid one, and Ill tell the others about it.

    Next stop: Nationals this November.

    :)

  8. Daming kits! I was looking at some of the entries and it seems every year the bar gets raised in one or more categories. But always a pleasure seeing great works, of course.

    Doc, nagdaan ka na ba?

Btw, here are pics of some of the entries:

  9. Doc,

The Bradley you see in the pics is actually in 1/72 scale. :)

    Taxi,

Thats the spirit! Get back into the groove! I just had the same sudden motivation last night when I got back into the jet fighter currently gathering dust on my workbench. Didnt go to bed till 2am.

Suggestion ko post progress pics of your project here, so we can all discuss it and maybe we can help one another finish our works. :)
