afaik it has been supported years ago pa, if you can't find the modules on your distro, you may compile it from the kernel source, defined at drivers/mtd (memory technology devices)

as nippy has put it, rules are set of guidelines, somewhat defines boundaries. and these rules are not there to be broken, people bend the rules on various grounds.

promises on the other hand is an assurance of a commitment, keep it as much as you can, else, lots of explanations, alibi, peace offerings, etc., are expected. and oh, there's this thing called "hurt".

and ubuntu is continuously improved w/ excellent support.

one hindrance for linux migration in my company is user acceptance. hirap pa lalo ako because nasa probinsya ako now. hindi maimagine ng mga personnel ko ano ang ibig kong sabihin ng "tatangalin ko ang windows and papalitan ko ng linux".

user acceptance is a real pain in the rear bottom, too much resistance.

also used to program using dbase3+ but hanggang duon na lang dahil hindi na covered ng course ko

why do you want to add your user to the root group?

ayaw mo add nalang sa sudoers yung user?

 

security-wise, adding a regular user to root is not recommended.

you turn things over to the administrator, along with the root password. it's handy if you have your own account with root privileges, with or without the admins knowledge

hmm.. should have seen this question before.

 

you are using Ubuntu, right? there is no root group in Ubuntu. I believe they disabled this. I may be wrong, correction from the community would be nice.

 

If I remember correctly, I was also trying to add my user to the root group until I realized that I can only give root privileges to myself via sudo/su command

there's no defined group for root, altho the passwd gid zero works

So what? I'm not either.

easiest way, change that user's GID to 0 (zero) in /etc/passwd
