  1. sir san ka nakakuha ng starscream (at that price)?

last check ko close to 4 thou pa din e...

Actually overseas. Taiwan's Toys R' Us, specifically. But I suspect even HK's Toys R' Us will sell it for a comparative price. It seems the retailers in the PH are selling the stuff for more than the retail price. It shouldn't be as expensive as the Takara version, anyways. But in my opinion, it looks much more gorgeous than the Takara version because of the panel detailing and the paint smudging, as well as it sporting the same color scheme as the cartoon version, of course.

  2. But you've got to agree that you can trust the brand Asus whereas the brand Everex doesn't inspire confidence.

I can't say. Pero, from what I've been noticing these computer manufacturers basically outsource the same factories anyways. Or at least get parts from overlapping suppliers. We'll see, though...

    Really?!?! blink.gif

Argh. Magpabili na lang kaya ako sa mga kilala ko sa Taiwan? tongue.gif

If you know someone from there, yeah. Ang laki ng difference from 12,750 sa 18,000, eh. And the 8GB version is widely available there din, I think.

  3. Actually there's a new contender up against the Asus Eee. Its name is Cloudbook and it boasts the same price range and size, but comes with a 30GB Hard Disk. It's also made by a Taiwanese company called Everex.

It is said to also sport a faster processor and uses Linux Ubuntu as the OS.

  4. Good grief ang taas pala ng patong nila. When I was in Taiwan I saw these selling for only NT$10,500 (converted to pesos is around 12,705). And that one was selling pa in one of their bigger retail stores (meaning, mas mura pa ata sa mga maliliit na computer shops).

  5. Whew, finally got myself a (Hasbro) Masterpiece Starscream for only PhP 2,225. I guess it's worth waiting for the price to drop down.

How much are the Voltes V figure selling nowadays?

  6. The Gundam EXIA model that I recently saw are awesome (the 1/44 and the 1/60).

However I think the detailing on that particular Gundam kit would just frustrate me, especially the head part.

  7. Parang pang sossy masyado sa Xinyi district eh. Although I do enjoy going there, I like the "carinderia" type foods better. If I'm going to eat authentic Japanese food, I'd rather like to go to Japan itself rather than go to another country to taste their Japanese cuisine... it just sorta defeats the purpose of going to another country, doesn't it?

Danshui's a good place to go to sample some of Taiwan's street foods. the area around Main Taipei Station and Ximen for the Gadget/Photography lovers. Snake Alley/Longsan Temple for the Religious/Jewelry/Exotic cuisines.

The Presidential Palace at night near Ximen (Shiao Nan Men, actually) is simply breath-taking.

  8. I for one like JRJr's art. It's very stylized yet not toosloppy like Liefeld's. I liked his run on Daredevil all those years ago. His style is like a cleaner (read: cartoony) version of Frank Miller's.

agree with your opinion on Bagley. His art sucks. I don't think it's cartoonish, more like it's done lazily. His style is just too boring and not dynamic enough.

Thing is I will *NEVER* pick up a Liefeld art even if the story is that breath-takingly good.

  9. to add to that, if you go overseas and try to access any application using EDGE, you can't. also, there's an sms virus that disables your sms and you have to do a master reset - erasing all contents. apple has been pretty silent about this. its an iPod with a phone, that's what it is. fancy but i got tired of it after a week.

an Apple-made product susceptible to a virus? Unbelievable...

  10. I used to have an Apple II when I was a kid.

Whenever you want to run a program, you enter a series of BASIC command like RUN, CATALOG, LIST... hehehe. I used to buy a programming book then that teaches you how to program a text-based adventure game.

Then came the old IBM XT. Naaasar ako nun kasi it was so foreign to me coming from an Apple II. Pero yun mga games niya mas maganda sa Apple II, so I switched to the IBM DOS environment na. After several years getting used to this "new" DOS, I was introduced to Windows 3.11. At the time asar din ako kasi ang bagal mag load ng Windows shell over DOS. Then came Win 95, and as usual naasar ako sa kanya kasi mas mabagal pa siya sa bootup time kaysa sa Windows 3.11. But I only switched to Windows 95 at the turn of the millennium na when I could afford (on my own) to buy the computer system required to run it.

Right now I'm still resisting switching over to Vista mainly because I don't like the idea of an OS stealing 3D graphics rendering resources (as well as RAM) from the system to run its own interface... eventually I'll have to switch na din after I've been convinced that it's stable na and that time that I can build the right system for it already.

  11. I think it's Citibank. Higher credit limits, Lower interest rates, points are not forfeited, better customer service....

I agree. I hate HSBC's reward points system. Every year or so my points go back to 0. My Citibank points are still there even after 10 years have gone by.

  12. bakit ang mac isa lang ang click sa mouse?is'nt it confusing?

If you came from Windows, it would be a little confusing, true. But it isn't really that hard. The 'right click' on a Mac is accomplished by pressing the apple key and the mouse button simultaneously. Some 3rd party two button mouse gadgets have a "driver" that simulates this action if you click on the right mouse button. But even if the Mac has a natural right mouse click, chances are you'll be confused too since "right clicking" on a Mac brings up a different context menu than the ones you see on Windows or Linux, etc.

  13. I had to uninstall my ubuntu Fesity Fawn. The reason is that the last time I booted it, it wouldn't accept my username and password even though I know I didn't change it and since I didn't know how to retrieve my password anymore, I had to format the drive again and went back to M$ OS. Maybe when it's easier and much more stable (as well as prettier and faster), I'll go back to ubuntu. For now, I'll just wait till my Winblows gets buggy again before changing the OS once more...

  14. Another thing with HSBC... they're quick to cut your card usage even if you've missed a payment just for a month. Happened to me while I was abroad for a month and tried to use it to pay for a purchase. Because I missed my payment due for that month (I think it was even just 2 weeks overdue), my card was declined. It's not really bad per se, but just to give everyone a head's up.
