1. these are mga 'sana' ko, no offense meant but these are the reasons i am seeing why bgk is loosing and you can put in your opinion too for as long as you do not push it to my throat... i will not enter into a waste of time debate with you but i will answer your opinions about my post

    1. if it was a good trade, bakit 2-5 sila ngayon at walang depensa

    2. menk is not with ginebra, his with smb sa abl along asi taulava; and even if he is w/ ginebra, what is his use kung deactivated

    3. mamaril and enrico are both centers; enrico is better both ends of the court; kerby is a forward who likes to play fronting the basket

    4. if taha was any indication that he is better than jensen, why trade for him now and not draft him?

    5. too small for an sf? what team does not need a good shooter? if siot had kept his good big men, tiu's size will not matter as he can play at least 3 positions... im not a fan of the guy but i think his versatile... anyway his injured

    6. it was not a good trade where ever you put it...if he is that good why bench him? what i am saying is bgk could have gotten better... maybe a rob reyes for a talent like cortez

Tubid for Ababou is ok for GSM in the long run as back then the problem is the aging of our guards. We need to go younger for the "future".

Menk I agree has been "drop" by management wherein they wanted him to play for SMB in the ABL. But as I have read somewhere then, Menk would still want to play in the PBA, thus maybe the arrangement wherein he will be a reserve while waiting for the ABL season to begin.

Personally, I think Asi could have helped GSM cause now (need of a center) except his rights in the PBA is still owned by Meralco. They would have to seek his release from Meralco (which is unlikely) or do a trade with them. Pero nakakapanghinayang din if you give up say a draft pick to Meralco for Asi to play a conference for GSM,

After the games the GSM have played, Jensen doesn't seem to impress. Maybe a better choice in hindsight would be to draft Vic Manuel instead. But we don't know what's on the mind of the coaching staff during draft day. Maybe, they think we have enough big men coz we still have Rico back then. Sa PF naman which is the position that Manuel plays, loaded na rin tayo with Rico M, Wilson, Kerby and Hatfield. Remember, we only lost Rico V after the draft and you can't blame the coaches then if they were thinking of having Dylan, Ellis and Jensen as their SF rotation.

Now that we've lost Rico, the Center slot has been thin. We know only have Mama as the true Center. Kerby is forced to play that position out of necessity. Therefore the need for another Center.

But I agree, we could have gotten more by trading Cortez than only receiving Taha.

  2. 1st half interview kay MC47 ...very frustrated ang mama. May bagong plays daw sila pero hindi ma-execute ng tama kasi nagmamadali daw ang mga players.

And so far TAHA have not been given the chance to play. Nag trade pa kung di naman gagamitin sad.gif

  3. though i am an advocate of trading players, i think ginebra got the raw end of the deal..... The talent of cortez is not comparable to taha at this point.... Hoping this turns out for the best

Taha is ok but it seems Reyes is better. Sayang hindi siya ang kinuha o naibigay.

I think Taha + a 2nd round pick would for Cortez would be the "fair value"

  4. 1351840482' post='8406874']

If they are going to let go of Cortez, might as well as for Rob Reyes, sayang lang si Rob sa air21, noong nasa petron s'ya medyo nagagamit s'ya at nakita naman natin ang kakayahan n'ya.

Na-injured ata yun mama at kababalik pa Lang. Agree ako, among the bigs of air21 first choice ko si Baclao then si Reyes. I doubt Kung pagkakatan si Noy so Rob would be the logical one to ask for.

Si Taha maganda rin ang pinapakita. Pero being a rookie I doubt Kung bibigyan ng opportunity yan ni Siot. Baka ibangko Lang din.

Sena just like Isip is a power forward. We don't need PF.

  5. uhm sir fatchubs, a center plays inside right? manuel offers an inside game although he is not a center...

what i mean is that the inside presence should be there offensively, manuel can provide that...

as for lester, i added him because the gsm would need another pg in case tenorio gets traded...

again, tenorio is no a running pg, he is a half court set player as with his days with ateneo...

if they want a running game, tenorio is not the key... they need an inside big to provide the rebounds and be a defensive threat

also they would need more consistency in the 3 and 4 position to run, maierhofer is the only 4 who runs in this team...

if manuel joins ginebra then that 4 position will really be sealed for a running game...

imagine this line up... jason, rico, vic, ellis, caguioa...

There are centers that plays also on the outside ... Mick Penisi is one of them.

So the question is do you really want a CENTER that can provide the rebounds and be a defensive threat or a POWER FORWARD, an undersized one at that, who can play inside offensively but may be too small to intimidate or match-up against taller opponents.

I beg to disagree, LA has the speed to play a running game we've seen him do that just like against the BAtang Pier. He can set up (halfcourt) plays too.

We can play Jensen at the 4, the guy can run. Hatfield I believe still can run the break. But as I said I do not disagree that Manuel can provide an upgrade at the 4 but then it is more of a luxury than a necessity. Besides there will now be am excess of PF in the team ...we'll have manuel, Wilson, Rico, Hatfield and Espiritu. That's 5 PF in the team not to count Kerby who plays that position as well. And yet you're talking about balance when the trade to get Manuel will lead to a situation of an over supply of PF.

Manuel I believe is not a rebounding demon ... undersize pa. How can we run if that lineup with a frontline of rico and Manuel can't control the boards and we can't be competitive defensively against bigger teams like purefoods?

what if this is a ginebra ploy just like 1995...

before it was marlou this season for greg slaughter... hehehe

I think they really have that intent when they traded with Air21

  6. fatchubs, that's the problem i had with the trade? why jensen and not manuel? because of maliksi? manuel can play the 4 position...

as for the trade tenorio, maliksi, jensen = alvarez, ballesteros, manuel... it ain't about the talent it's what the team needs...

give two years, alvarez will be one of the better pgs in the pba...

as for manuel, he shows the potential and the never say die spirit which jensen and ellis doesn't show, maybe because they grew up elsewhere and never witnessed the never say die ginebra attitude...

ballesteros... hmmmmm... he's not just big and he is no sam eman or magi sison either...

put it this way if ballesteros were in tnt or ros that'd be scary

again... let's unload the pgs... and start with siot... hehehee

Tenorio is already one of the best PG we have now and he will still be even in 2 years time. Lester is a potential ... he actually may or may not become the player you expect him to be. Looking to win now, then you go for a proven commodity rather than potential.

Jensen I believe can also play the 3 or the 4 position as well but has been called to play mostly 3. He Is taller than Manuel who is listed at 6'5" but is actually 2-3 inches shorter except for his big frame. Overall, yes Manuel have a better game. But to me I think he is more of an inside player, something that GSM does not need considering the team primarily needs a center and that is I think where Ballesteros fits in.

Manuel if you want him to play 3 I think we are all set in that position with Ellis and Dylan plus jensen. As for playing the 4, well he could improve the position but is more of a luxury at this point considering we are not really lacking in PF. Besides he will be an undersized 4.

As you said it is what the team needs .... It is really the only CENTER position at this point . the team does not need Manuel. If ever he would be a luxury, an upgrade over Willy wilson and perhaps Rudy Hatfield. GSM can live without him. And if what the team needs is actually only Ballesteros, you don't probably even need to use Tenorio as part of the trade asset to be able to get him.

  7. Pumaren is in need of a PG. Cortez would probably be to his liking. Now its a matter of determining who among the big men they have is acceptable to us and they are willing to part with.  Rob Reyes, Taha, Sena and Baclao are some names .

Personally a straight up one on one trade involving Cortez and either of Reyes, Sena or Taha can be done.  If its Baclao, I doubt if pakakawalan yan ng Air21 kung si Cortez lang ang kapalit.

BTW, Ginebra already owns the draft pick of air21 for next year. Therefore most likely it will end up as either a number 1 or 2 pick. If not Greg then probably another Filam big.

  8. the trade i was suggesting basically is that gsm would get manuel and ballesteros

tenorio would be the trade bait for that, this is not a position per position trade

so you don't have to analyze it as a man for man trade...

ababou can play the 2 position as what he did for ust

let us see what the lineup would be:

    Pos.....Name

    C.......Mamaril, Billy

    PG......Alvarez, Lester

    F.......Maierhofer, Rico

    G.......Cortez, Mike

    G.......Helterbrand, Jayjay ©

    F/C.....Manuel, Vic ®

    F/C.....Raymundo, Kerby

    F.......Espiritu, Elmer

    F.......Wilson, Willy

    C.......Ballesteros, Jensen

    G/F.....Ababou, Dylan

    F.......Ellis, Chris ®

    SG......Caguioa, Mark

    PF......Hatfield, Rudy

pg - cortez, jj, alvarez, maybe caguioa

sg - cortez, caguioa, ababou, jj

sf - ababou, ellis, wilson, manuel, espiritu, maierhofer

pf - manuel(small ball), raymundo, wilson, maierhofer, ellis(small ball), hatfield, espiritu

c - ballesteros, mamaril, maierhofer(small ball), raymundo, hatfield

    running game:

maierhofer, manuel, ellis, ababou, caguioa, alvarez, cortez

or have mamaril or ballesteros in for maierhofer, manuel or ellis

The only reason I analyzed it man for man is to show that collectively, the Kings are not in a better position doing this trade talent-wise. (the talent they are letting go vs what they are getting in return).

We don't need Manuel given the players we have now and we're better off with LA at the point (than Lester). In short, at most it is only Ballesteros that we cherish because our need for a legitimate center. As such, why not just see what it will really take to get him? But is is worth giving up LA as a "bait" to get this done? Is he the player that can turn the tide for this team?

Remember, GSM moved heaven and earth to acquire Tenorio ... do you honestly think they will give him away? As far as Manuel is concerned, they drafted Jensen ahead of him. They could have instead get Manuel had they really wanted him in the first place.

Also, Tenorio I believe was acquired because JJ and Mike are both adding up in age. They need to get younger at the PG. Giving away LA gives them the same problem they have moving forward.

  9. you are essentially trading tenorio for lester alvarez ... advantage LA Tenorio

Maliksi for Manuel ... both are former D-League MVP but we need Maliksi who plays the 2 guard rather than manuel who plays the 3 or 4. Maliksi for me is the main back-up of MC47. We are loaded there @ the 3 spot with Ababou, Ellis as well as Jensen and the likes of Rico, Rudy and Wilson playing the 4 spot

Jensen for Ballesteros ...this is a toss-up but for me jensen has the advantage talent-wise. The only thing going for Jason is he has the height that our team sorely miss.

If the need is for a Center, we can probably start by unloading our PG...to me it is really hard to find enough playing time for 3 star PG specially when Tenorio is expected to play 30 min a game. We can trade either JJ or Cortez and maybe put in espiritu.

Actually, the team can opt to bring back Menk in lieu of Espiritu who I believe has really no chance of playing given the line-up they have now. Espiritu is last on the depth chart either in the SF or PF position. As such, bringing in Menk as the 3rd center behind Mama and Kerby makes more sense as a stop gap solution. The need for a big man can be filled in by the import in the coming conferences.

Yes maybe we are a big man away to win a title but at this point the team is under performing and it is not because of the missing piece. We can compete with this line-up. its just that somehow they can't find their acts together. Is it a case of roles not clearly defined? Or could it be the coach simply couldn't desgn the right plays.

sana kung magsmall ball sila, dapat tumatakbo... kaso hindi eh...

tenorio has never been known as a fastbreak type of player...

kung maghalfcourt set dapat kahit papaano may post up threat kaso wala...

    trade tenorio/jensen/maliksi

    bale tree way trade

    ginebra gives tenorio/jensen/maliksi

    pier

    mandani/manuel/vergara

    barako

    alvarez/ballesteros/anthony

    ginebra - alvarez, manuel, ballesteros

    barako - mandani, maliksi,tenorio

    pier - vergara, anthony, jensen

    watchathink??? pwede ba?

Masyado atang dehado ang GSM sa trade na ito.

Tenorio can play fastball. And I don't think pg ang problema. Management had been wanting to get LA. Dati ang. Nababalita si Casio sana. Hindi na sana masama considering we may not have parted with Enrico and possibly the draft pick.

  11. just an observation ... everytime napupunta kay Kerby ang bola parang natitigilan ang fluidity ng offense ng team. Pagpasa sa kanya ng bola he'll hold on to the ball for a couple of seconds before making a move. Usually either titira niya or he'll make a one on one move.

teaching greg slaughter and junemar fajardo how to make 3 point shots with at least 50% accuracy would allow douthit to have better inside game.

    Easier said than done ....

Besides, these guys are expected to back-up and not play alongside with Marcus.

  13. ^^  KAJ without the skyhook? - baka Hasheem Thabeet ang kalabasan niyan ... ;)

Hasheem even if he is a draft bust can boast of being an NBA player. Something Fajardo hasn't achieved even if one is to believe he is KAJ without the skyhook.

  14. Me neither, but of course, I trust Tim Cone's assessment that he is Kareem Abdul Jabbar without the skyhook.

If the guy is REALLY a "KAJ" w/o the skyhook type of a player, shouldn't he be playing in the NBA or at least the D-League?

Well at least I expect that he should have performed much better that what he did in his ABL playing days against his SEA counterparts as well as the "imports" .

People at times are fooled for being too trusting.

i forgot to mention. maybe its time to try kiefer ravena.

Don't you think he's still a young kid and physically not that strong enough to go up against the "men". But for SEA games level am sure he will be a shoo in for the sinag team

  16. 1346467337' post='8327038']

I think they should look at the free agent pool and/or undrafted players, baka me big man doon who can fill-up E-Menk's position, sayang ang slot n'ya eh, lagay na lang s'ya sa coaching staff kung gusto n'ya...

Sayang ang ibinigay nila na 1st round pick, baka si Slaughter na 'yun ah....

    Premature.

Agree ako na premature an mag champion ang ginebra. And yes they should look for another big man or trade for one.

But the 2014 pick won't be slaughter for two reasons...first he is expected to turn pro next year and thine bra is well positions for that sweepstake as they own the air21 pick next year. Also I don't expect ginebra's pick in 2014 to be among the top picks so if ever Greg enters that draft, Hindi na rin makukuha yun.
