  1. It uses United Nations data to rank the countries. If you have the pdf file of the report, go to page 222 and you can see what years the data are from

    correct. no argument there.

    Choosing the Countries to Rank

We narrowed the world's nations down to a statistically manageable group by comparing the performance of countries in a number of key business, economic and quality of life indicators.

The 80 countries in the 2018 Best Countries rankings had to meet four criteria within the last two years for which data are available specific to each benchmark to be included in the study:

    • Top 100 countries in terms of gross domestic product in 2015 or 2014, based on World Bank data
    • Top 150 countries in the UN's Human Development Index, based on the 2015 or 2014 report
    • Top 100 countries in terms of foreign direct investment inflows in 2014 or 2013, based on United Nations data
    • Top 100 countries in terms of international tourism receipts in 2014 or international tourism arrivals in 2013, based on World Bank data

But that was not the sole criteria and the only basis

    .

    https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/articles/methodology

The 2018 Best Countries report and rankings are based on how global perceptions define countries in terms of a number of qualitative characteristics, impressions that have the potential to drive trade, travel and investment and directly affect national economies. The report covers perceptions of 80 nations.

The Movers sub ranking represents a version of BAV's Brand Asset Valuator Model of Brand Building, a metric developed by BAV that is predictive of a country's future growth in terms of gross domestic product purchasing power parity per capita. Instead of one year of data, it was correlated to predicted growth of the metric from 2014 to 2020.

credit to the past administration also.

  2.

buti pa yung NLEX nakakuha ng isa...in 7 pa tsk tsk tsk nonetheless, let these alleged "experts" know that predictions mean nothing to ginebra. focus lang yan and stick to the game plan. the game is won on the basketball court. SMB is beatable and we will win this series. i do want a sweep to silence these experts but let's be realistic...i'd say ginebra in 7. tiwala lang. Ginebra NSD!!!

    Tama dre. Bilog ang bola.

Ang importante, makuha ang game 1 mamaya.

  3. So all of espn5's "experts" predicted a 6 game series win by SMB.

be ready to get shock people. we will beat the defending champions.

ESPN5's Five On Five: Previewing the 2018 Philippine Cup semifinals

    http://tv5.espn.com/basketball/pba/story/_/id/22686374/previewing-2018-philippine-cup-semifinals

    5. Predictions for both series.

Chuck: San Miguel in 6, Magnolia in 6

Charlie: We do not like making these predictions, but our editor forces us to. SMB and Magnolia in 6 games.

Carlo: SMB in 7. Magnolia in 6.

Jutt: SMB in 6. Magnolia in 6.

Noel: SMB in 6, NLEX in 7.

Weakside rebounding na lang sya, siguradong unstoppable sya dun as long as wag syang lalambot lambot. Jervy Cruz would also definitely be a crucial player in this series. A confident KFer and a back in form AJ Mariano would be the Xfactor for this series. Although, sa dalawang gwardya, who would be the better option na layasan ni Scottie to help in rebounding: Cabaggie or Ross?

Ross will definitely try to shutdown LA.

Maybe Marcio will guard Scottie?

I think they will try to attack scottie more para mapagod sa depensa at di masyado maka rebound.

I think greg should come off the bench muna for the first few games? Raymond has proven himself against JMF, he will be a big boost again this series.

LA is now a deadly 3pt shooter, basta open ilista mo na. And scottie is slowly getting there too. My boy Aljon is having the Ellis syndrome. We need Kfer to play mind games again against Arwind. Sol defending and shutting down marcio is a must.

  6. May bigla akong naisip.

I expect Both of them (caperal and Raymond) to play tonight to preserve Japhet Aguilar against SMB. (the other way around)

Japhet has beend doing it all as of late, a bad game is coming and inevitable based on his history of playing (sana wag ngayong gabi)

Im glad SOL is getting his swag and angas back, big help kay LA to lessen his scoring burden.

We still need Aljon and Kfer to be consistent. I hope Kfer's 3 will still be there tonight. (on and off din kasi ang batang to)

I dont expect anything na from MC13 aside from the inspiration. Yung points, hustle at rebound niya, bonus na para sakin.

  7.

Ok na ako. Isang Fentanyl lang solved na. Kalmado na.

haha chief masyado na tayong nerbyoso ah! hehe..

honestly wala akong kakaba kaba against ROS. If you notice, wala silang fluidity sa offense. Most of the time kanya kanya. Minsan naman, parang dribble drive ang play. Compared to our awesome passing plays last night. Iba talaga bangis ng ginebra pag playoff time. Gabe norwood pa bumabantay ke LA Tenorio. Lupit ng respeto.

Too bad, SMB wang possible makaharap sa semis. A very huge road block. Pero pag nakalusot, amoy Manila Classico Finals. hehe

I expect Gabe to guard scottie next game to take away his rebounding advantage.

  8. malas di ko napanuod 3ple OT win.

pero di ko palalampasin mamaya ang Game 1.

I am predicting a 2-0 sweep in our teams favor. hehe

We have done it before without Greg so i am not worrying too much.

  9.

Wow! Ginawa nila 'yun? Without a big corp. supporting a team back then, (except maybe sa Laguna Lakers/Air21) talagang mahihirapan ang isang team to sustain a season, kaya sa bawat taon ng MBA pabawas ng pabawas ang teams sa MBA noon

    From WIKIPEDIA.

The MBA was played its first game on March 7, 1998 at the Don Narciso Ramos Sports Complex in Lingayen, Pangasinan. [1] Unlike the Philippine Basketball Association, in which teams represent companies, the MBA teams represented a particular city, province or island in the country. The league brought basketball closer to the people, and it raided the PBA for talent.

The MBA was widely viewed as broadcast giant ABS-CBN's attempt to undermine the PBA after failing to snatch its broadcast rights in 1998.

Metroball allowed foreigners to play for their teams, not requiring Philippine passports of them, nor requiring those foreigners to have Filipino blood. All the league required was that these players be born in the Philippines.

As a direct result of this practice, the MBA and its foreign-born players began attracting attention away from the PBA, forcing the PBA to escalate their own players' salaries and practically rendering the PBA draft useless through a "direct hiring" process.

This allowed PBA teams like Talk 'N Text and Tanduay to negotiate directly with MBA players or MBA prospects (like Asi Taulava and Sonny Alvarado) for their services.

However, the league folded on July 26, 2002 due to extremely high expenses on funding a regional basketball league, and most especially when broadcast partner ABS-CBN withdrew funding for the league. Several players went to the semi-professional Philippine Basketball League en route to the PBA.

  10. Scary scenarios;

    If Globalport and ROS win:

A three-way tie at 5-6 will ensue among Blackwater, Ginebra, and TNT, with the Elite owning the best quotient among them and ending up in seventh seed with a twice-to-win disadvantage against second seed Magnolia.

Ginebra and TNT will have to face off in a playoff for the final postseason berth for the chance to pull off an upset against the pacesetting Beermen.

    If Phoenix and Ginebra win:

ROS, Ginebra, and NLEX will also wound up tied at 6-5, with the E-Painters having the best quotient and clinching fourth seed in a best-of-three encounter against the Gin Kings. The Road Warriors, for their part, will face third seed Alaska.

    If Phoenix and ROS win:

Ginebra and Blackwater will have to take on each other in a playoff for the last quarterfinal spot and the right to face top seed SMB

  11. Things got a bit complicated, pero blessing in disguise siguro.

Ginebra will play without Greg. Ankle sprain during practice.

awwww.. patay tayo dyan.. mukhang wala pang press release to chief...

i hope jdv's movements are better now, ok lang wala si Greg basta OK si JDV.

We need LA's A Game in this one.

I hope my Boy Aljon step up big time to the plate.

Bukas ba game day natin vs ROS?

  13. What's also good about this league all their venues are full packed! Unlike the PBA nowadays

  14. Lots of Ex PBA players here.

    Gary David plays for Bataan

Val Acuna plays for Batangas (currently flawless 6-0)

  15. Duterte vows to go after Lopez-owned Benpres, 6 other firms indebted to DBP

"I would go after these elite and I will not name the person but their companies before – Benpres and about six other companies – have debts to DBP," the President said. "They're using public funds to finance their business but they're getting the earnings. And yet, they were not able to pay and it was condoned by government," he added. According to a 2011 column piece by newspaper Philippine Daily Inquirer, the loans granted and written off by the DPB to various corporations belonging to the Lopez group amounted to over P1.6 billion. This means that the government lost P1.6 billion to the group. Citing the DBP documents, the report cited that written-off loans were granted to Maynilad Water (P710.86 million); Bayantel (P591.81 million), Central CATV Inc. (P207.1 million); and Benpres Holdings (P157.95 billion). "All these corporations belong to, or used to belong to the Lopez group. Benpres Holdings, for example, is still operating, but the DBP has already written off loans given to it," the newspaper said.

  16.

Hindi pinasok buong laro tapos pinasok nung crucial seconds? parang di CTC style yun ah.

Actually it is a CTC style. Remember Rhoel Gomez during his Alaska days. Hindi ginagamit buong laro biglang ipapasok sa dying seconds for a three point shot.

    i remember that.

But Roel Gomez was not a rookie during that time AFAIR.

  17. 6 wins ang magic number para makapasok sa quarters. and with the way we fought dun sa mga kapantay natin sa standings, baka sa no. 7 pa ang bagsak natin, pag nagkataon twice to beat disadvantage vs Magnolia pa.

I agree that greg doesnt need to be the main focal point of every play dahil mas effective pag si Japhet ang nag si seal sa gitna. Greg should always go to the weak side also and wait for offensive rebounds or drop passes.

Hindi pinasok buong laro tapos pinasok nung crucial seconds? parang di CTC style yun ah.

  18. This is interesting...

    another utang na loob move..

I dont know this guy personally so i will reserve my comments on his appointment at a later time.

    Im also wondering....

INC head Eduardo Manalo is Duterte's new envoy for OFW concerns

MC13, while not able to score, was able to have a few defensive stops, notably yung block on Ryan Reyes and the chasedown defense on Pogoy(?).

I'm seeing the big man rotation now. Jervy, then Aguilar, and then Caperal.

oo naman pre i understand Sol's situation. I just hope he comes back to his old self ASAP, kasi si greg galing din sa injury mas malala pa pero look at him parang hindi galing injury.

MC13 is a gem up to this day.

Jervy better consistently knock those elbow jumpers down cause prince and raymond are just waiting at the corner ready to grab his minutes anytime.
