  1. Intel Centrino is really for laptop omputers right? ano ba advantages nito kumpara sa Pentium M?

Intel Centrino= Pentium M + wireless technologies built into the motherboard.

It's really just a marketing term. Nearly all current laptops have wireless technologies built into them anyway. Intel just wants to make you think Centrino is a world and a half better than a Pentium M, which it isn't (well, yeah it is better, but not by much).

  2. The pic of the civic above is the clinic car of the Civic Si for the US. Notice that there aren't any door handles and no interior. Anyway, this late in development, any new changes to it won't be drastic. There are two Civic styles being developed, one for Europe, one for US/Japan (like what Honda did to the current Accord).

  3. :thumbsupsmiley: :)

    Hello guys!

Just another Fyi for those who were asking, Ely and the rest (Raymond, Marcus and Buddy) possibly had a misunderstanding.  Bec when Eheads were Awarded the hall of fame of NU. Ely was the only one who recieved the award and the resdt didnt even bother to attend the awards night.

After 13 years of great music, the Eraserheads is finally over! Ely left, Kris came; Marcus left, Ebe and Diego came. Ely has formed his new band, The Mongols. In the meantime, the other founding members and original Eheads, transformed "Eheads" into a "new" band called, Cambio.  So Cambio is the New eheads.

    :D

    :mtc:

I think its waaaay more than a misunderstanding.

There was an issue of Pulp last year which had a story on Ely Buendia and the rest of the Eheads. Anyway, the article accused the rest of the Eheads of taking an unfair share of the money. Pulp published this without checking out if the accusation had merit and didn't even bother to get the rest of the band's story. When Raimund and the rest of the ex-Eheads found out, they were rightfully pissed, because they never took more money than what was given to them. I remember reading an SMS circulating around (which supposedly came from one of the Eheads) that denied the story and pretty much told Ely to leave the rest of them alone.

It's a pretty ugly breakup, since its Ely vs the rest of the band. The chances of them getting back together are pretty much nil. Oh well, we still have their albums to listen to again and again and again.

  4. The only problem with non-branded notebooks, is the post support, what happen if there is a problem with the motherboard, hdd and need to be replaced, they can't replace it immediately they need to order it to the supplier/maker and might take a long time to get a replacement, unlike branded they have a rep*tation, they have a call center and service center to approach for repair. This not the same as desktops.

Actually, buying branded notebooks does not guaranteee headache-free service. The HP laptops used at my office developed problems with their harddisk and RAM, and it took nearly 2 weeks for the techs to diagnose and repair the problems. Most of the time was spent waiting for the appropriate parts because they had none on stock. Apple took more than 2 months to repair my other boss's powerbook because they had to order the replacement battery from the US. My advice is to buy the notebook (whether branded/unbranded) from a dependable store who can fix the notebook themselves. That way, its a more personal service, and you can pressure them to work faster.

  5. Don't forget that it also extends the life of your CDROM/DVDROM DRIVES!!!

Btw, if the game is protected using Securom v4.5 and above, the virtual CDs may not work after you patch your game to a higher version so be warned... :headsetsmiley:

Try Alcohol 120%, can't remember the latest version since updates are quite regular. the program is pretty small, and you can rip nearly all CD/DVDs into images. BTW, this isn't free. You can look for cracks at www.astalavista.com or download the program with a crack on mininova.org.

  6. Nagbago na ba yon DArk drawing ng Marvel Comics???

Dati kasi after jim Lee, after Onslaught yon mga Drawing ng Marvel Biglang pumangit and  dumilim.

    Ngayon ba ganun pa rin??

Yon ba dark custom ba na Xmen nagbago na ba??? ano bago twist sa story ngayon???

I don't think its fair to say that all of Marvel's comic art went "dark" after Onslaught (1997), since it all depends on the individual titles. All of the Heroes Reborn line of comics were done by the same people who left Marvel to start Image (Jim Lee, Portacio, Liefeld, etc.).

Truth is, Marvel cares more about the art of its comics than DC. If you've collected any of the DC flagship titles (Batman & Superman), you'll notice that they frequently change artists per issue. Also most notable is that some of these artists can't draw. There are a few exceptions (the Hush storyline for Batman), but more often than not, DC puts priority on the art deadline rather than the artist. Marvel, on the other hand, likes to have an artist do a long run of issues before switching.

Right now, Josh Whedon is writing the main x-men title (Astonishing X-men), and according to my friend "It rocks!". I'm kinda pissed that X-men are all back into costumes since I really loved the idea of making them wear more sensible stuff (leather jackets & pants and a form-fitting shirt). Made them more "believable" i guess. Now, they're back into yellow and blow spandex. I'll wait until Whedon's run is collected into a big TPB to read it since i don't have the money to collect it in single issue form.

If you want to read a good X-men story (with great art), pick-up X-men: Phoenix Endosong, but only after you've read all of Grant Morrisson's New X-men comics.

The last big change in comic art has come from the colorists. Now that a new generation of colorists have grown up with computers, you'll be impressed by the amount of stuff they do with the backgrounds and FX!

  7. dude CD-R King has 2 stores in makati/ayala area..

one is at the MRT station (ayala) and the other at the Glorieta going to park square (if i'm not mistaken)

Alam ko, 4 yung shops nila in the area. MRT is the least accessible because they have weird store hours (1230 to 730). They have a cart on the third floor of Glorietta, A shop at Goldcrest (near Glorietta 2 entrance), and the last is in Greenbelt 1, near Watsons.

  8. I remember using that mouse! And I hated it from the very minute i started using it!

Actually, Apple has been known to put style over substance on many occasions. The powermac cube being one of the more infamous (you waved your hand in front of the sensor to turn on and off. unfortunately, it was too sensitive, so sometimes it turned off when you were putting a disc in the drive). It didn't help that the manufacturing process sucked because cracks on the case would appear for no reason.

Truth is, I really HATE apple. I love OS X and I love the G4 and G5 powermac, but i still hate the company. Their machines are overpriced, the customer support sucks (took nearly a week to get an I-mac working again), and the marketing is overhyped. Its a case of love the product, hate the company.

  9. War of the Worlds

Speilberg, once again, delivers. War of the Worlds not only entertains, it rivets you to your seat in anticipation. Sure, anyone who's heard about the book will know how the invasion ends, but that's besides the point. The real story isn't about the how the aliens are defeated, its about survival. Its about how ugly things can become when everyone's only concerned about themselves instead of looking at the big picture (ie the human race). If you want to see humans kick alien ass, go watch Independence Day. If you want to see an alien invasion from the POV of a normal guy, watch this.

Like many Speilberg movies, you can expect that special effects come only second to the story. I was kinda annoyed at a very pivotal scene where the US army was blasting the crap out of the alien tripods mainly because you never got to see the real battle taking place. You'd see shots of gunships and tanks firing in the background, but you never really see the battle taking place. But after watching the entire film, I understood why speilberg didn't put the battle scene. The point of the movie wasn't about the war itself, but the effect the war had on Ray and his family. (still, I can't help but wish there was a big battle scene)

War of the Worlds is definitely worth the price of a movie ticket. Pay the extra money and go to the smaller movie houses with the good sound system, because it's worth it. Most films lose a certain energy and edge when they aren't experienced in a good movie house. WOTW is one of those films which goes down several notches when you watch it at home.

  10. Guys need your opinion.

Would you recommend Ibook G4 1.2 GHz or would you go for HP X1010AL 1.3GHz centrino.

    This would be for school.

    Depends on 2 things:

1.) Are your friends/group mates going to be using macs as well?

2.) Is your school more PC-based or Mac-based? Would projects that you've been working on your laptop be easily transferred to the school desktops?

Compatibility is key here. Granted, compatibility between PCs and Macs have never been easier thanks to Microsoft (surprise!) and Adobe, but you never know what problems you may encounter down the road. If everybody you know has a PC, it would probably be best to stick with a PC.

  11. ah...memories of my earliest games:

Kings Quest 1, which was then followed by the other great Sierra adventure games: King's Quest II, III, IV, Space Quest I, II, III, Police Quest I, II, LSL I, II, etc...

Stopped gaming for a while since the XT couldn't handle any new games, when my family finally got a 486DX2-66, ayun na ulit! Haven't stopped ever since.

  12. isang sem lang talaga ako nag ROTC. T@e!

buti nalang mabait yung officer namin. yung isang company, babae yung CO, kaya palaging kawawa. para bang galit palagi sa company niya---100 jumping jacks buhat pa naman yung garand! at least kami, binilad lang sa araw at nilunod sa putik at ulan.

next sem, nag-apply ako for office work, tapos lumusot! hehehe, 4 hours a week, nasa office lang ako nag-aayos ng files, sumasagot ng telepono at nagtitimpla ng kape. :D

2nd year the best: LES (law enforcement service). Since pulis na yung mga officers namin, sobrang saya. 1 hour late kung mag-start, 1 hour early kung mag-dismiss. Tapos, may live fire training pa (.45 cal shootout). Never kami nag push-up, never kami nabilad sa araw, wala pang punyet@ng mga garand. ayuuuuuuuz. :D :D :D

  13. i'm not sure with this, pero sabi ng mga taga ford.  japanese cars dapat high octane.... american cars naman low octane.

i use low octane because i read somewhere na waste of energy lang ang high octane at wala naman significant benefits.

Partly true---american vehicles are designed to use lower octane fuels. Lowest octane rating natin dito is 91, if I'm right. Sa US, 87 octane is lowest, mataas na ang 93. Not all japanese cars are meant for high-octane fuel, only the japanese performance cars like the Integra/RSX/RX-7/Skyline/etc. Those cars are designed for 98 RON or more for best performance. They'll work at lower octane ratings, just not as fast as the spec sheet says.

High octane petrol theoretically burns cleaner and more efficiently than low octane fuels, thus, you should theoretically cover more mileage. In city driving however, this is wasted (considering EDSA traffic) as you spend most of your time in low revs or idle, where the benefits of high-octane fuel isnt felt (yeah, you may be burning the fuel more efficiently, you're just not going anywhere).

don't know if this is true....but i read on a UK Shell message board that high octane fuel degrades over time since they aren't as stable as lower RON fuels. supposedly, 98 RON petrol breaks down and becomes something like 96 RON at the end of 2 to 3 weeks. So dapat ang kinarga mong Velocity or Blaze should be just enough to last you 2 weeks max para di sayang.

  15. You have to listen to William Shatner's latest album "Has Been".

I know it sounds like a joke...but just give it a try! Produced by Ben Folds, you will genuinely be surprised at how good it is.

  16. Does abyone know of any local company that does data recovery from hard discs? I'm not talking of "oops...i formatted my HD by mistake", but rather my HD isn't even detected by the BIOS. I've been told of companies in Singapore that do this, but its just too expensive if you factor in shipping. any help would be appriciated!

  17. Does anyone here know of places that can salvage data off a fried HD? The HD is completely unusable because everytime I connect it to any PC, either a) the motherboard blacks out or B) not even the bios detects it. I'm looking for a place in Metro Manila that specializes in data recovery. thanks!
