  1. lithuania.....if were talking about basic basketball in it's purest form.

koreans.....if they were only bigger and stronger. their outside snipers are really a killer. plus they got the best youth basketball program in tonsei(?) university.

  2. Just watched The Last Legion

    Story- :thumbsdownsmiley:

    Acting- :thumbsdownsmiley:

    Movie- :thumbsdownsmiley:

as my indian officemate commented: Kerala,India is not yet existing during those roman times, yet aishwarya told the guys seh originated from that place. historical flaws. weak story. pathetic fight scenes. only the beauty of aishwarya is the saving grace of this movie.

  4. Asi Taulava, Jimmy Alapag, Gabe Norwood - theyre more fiipino by heart by giving their best for our country. Di lang nasa dugo ang pagiging pilipino, kundi sa puso din. saludo ako sa inyo.

Chot Reyes (please lower ur eyebrows guys) - He knows he's against all odds. tough competition, short preparation time, keys players injuries, his wrong moves and decisions getting magnified, slim chance of success, criticisms and harsh words from know-it-all basketballs genius and gods, even mtc posters. but still got some balls to give this one a losing yet very brave fight. Tough fate and sacrifices he endured only to be rewarded back home with rotten tomatoes and eggs.

vince hizon - i thought puro pa cute lang dati as a player, but secretly, he is funding his own scholarship foundation. dami na ring beneficiaries nito but he didnt want allow the media to highlight this one.

  5. whats the thinnest/smallest phone with wifi for internet and is 3g capable? i don't want a pda. recos appreciated.

bossing, try nokia N80, ung black internet edition.... ok to, tried and tested. usually check my yahoomail, friendster, jobstreet and even mtc sa mga open wifi spots. definitely the smallest but not the thinest available in the market.

usually, the problem here is that its battery life sucks fast. 1 technique is go to the network settings, choose gsm mode (disabling the dual mode (gsm/umts) kasi malakas kumain ng power ung pang search nya ng 3g signal. That is if you want to conserve some battery power. go back the orig settings if you ever need to do a video call.

  6. Derek fisher....willing to give up his reviving career in Utah just to spend time with his ailing daughter. More than fame, career, money or anything else, it's family that really matters most.

Hope he can still play elsewhere (i hope in LA) where he can still play yet he can attend to the medical needs of his daughter.

  7. Arnel Halimao - ang ok pa nito, ung mukha nya fits the description a former rotc mate surnamed BuayaArnel Halimao - ang ok pa nito, ung mukha nya fits the description a former rotc mate surnamed Buayaformer expat boss sunamed Dick and another one is White. mag bestfriend pa ung dalawa. We call them "the white dick tandem"

  8. Medyo Out of Topic pero dito na rin post.........(sayang lang pag gagawa pa ng bago thread dahil konti lang mga coaches)

Red Auerbach and Baby Dalupan........Greatest Coach of Basketball

for me, coach Don Nelson and Mike Fratello

don Nelson - probably the mad scientist of the NBA. pioneered the "small-ball", "hack-a-shaq", "point-forward position" and turning a 7 foot german into a freakin 3 point shooter (imagine what he can do to Yao Ming if he's his coach.) So crazy, so creative.

Mike Fratello - His cavaliers stint is such a good study on how to turn a garbage team into a playoff contenders. He had done it with the cavaliers of early 90s, without any superstar. He innovates the "slow-ball" offense coupled with air-tight defense, and always keeping the score low as low it can be.

  9. steve kerr - bulls 2nd stringer to suns GM ^_^

and for me, the best ever ports columnist in the net. He's more entertaining than his supposed to be more experienced co-writers.

OT pero just want to pay tribute to Lebron James' mom Gloria. She raised Bron as a single parent, without any support from LBJ's father (whoever he is). she's your typical poor gal living in the ghettos and did everything she can for her beloved son. Her dedication as a mother has been rewarded and look who she got; A sport superstar icon son who already amassed more than a hundred million dollars and the face of the greatest basketball league in the world.

  10. last time i played this is way back 2003. ngayon lang uli ako naginstall. mga napa "graduate" ko na sina barbarian, sorceress and assasin... ngayong nirevive ko na ang addiction ko, damn, i can't even get pass the fckin summoner :grr: (using barbarian i named leonidas). anyway. 1 thing more. para saan pala yung wirt's leg?

  11. isama na natin ung organization. I really admire the Utah Jazz and San Antonio Spurs. kita natin how they value their players and coaches. They dont treat them as gears and pieces, like the other teams. they treat them as a family. And if possible, they want their guys to retire right there in their team-family

  12. ha! and look where he is now... karma!

...these guys are so verbally full of themselves.... they are not really overrated... they just over rated themselves....

of all the athlete-prophets that have come and go, only muhammad ali got it right.

    I AM THE GREATEST.!!!!!!

  13. Adonal Foyle.....man. this guy will gonna give Barak Obama a run for his money. The guy is more known for his political activism than being the all time warriors shot block leader. his democratic advocacy makes me think that he's in the wrong league. i see him as a future political force or even a major personality at the UN.

malik rose. ...whose gonna think that this ghetto thug-looking tough guy has as doctorate/masters degree? talk about importance of education despite having a fame and money as an athlete.

  14. Still Magic Johnson comes to mind on this topic. :thumbsupsmiley:

yup. yan ang isa ko pang isasama. for me, he's more than just a basketball superstar, he's more than that. for me, he's one of the modern hero. The time that he announced that he has HIV, he risk and sacrifice his social standing, his career, stardom, endorsement contracts, etc. just for the sake of saving a lot of would be victims through AIDS awareness. He's done much impact on the campaign at the time (late 80's) that any talks about HIV-AIDS is considered a taboo that no one wants to talk to. He played again in the all-star just to show the ignorant ones like Karl malone that HIV is not transferrable by just a simple skin-to-skin contact. He's a genuine human being by being not selfish and hide his health status but instead use his fame for the benefit of mankind.

  15. With the NBA hobbled with players who made waves not just because of their amazing talent but because of their off-court tantrums, legal issues, attitude problems and "team-cancers", we basketball fans, still have some who we can look up to, someone who's worth emulating; very professional, unselfish, someone who cares for the community and humanity as well, regardless of their status, game-level and skills. there's more about them than slamming that ball.

    1. Reggie Miller - Kobe, Tmac, Vince, pls read. Reggie is the man to look for if u want to define loyalty to your team and Integrity of a Star Player. Win or lose, whether he's surrounded by talented teammates or with scrubs, he never turned back on his Indiana Pacers, and never let himself become a ring obssesd bitch who go to other team just ot have the ring. he never asked to be traded nor complains on his coaches, his playing time, or bitch about shifting into a support role to give way to the rising young talents. He is so unbelievable that you cant help but respect the guy. Integrity wise, when he decided to retire, he retires. period. no more dramas, no "i shall return to save this team, blah blah" no more mushy scripts. He hangs his jersey with his head up despite not winning a ring. Im not his fan but for me, he's a class above the rest. so is the case for john stockton.

    2. David Robinson - A true epitome of a leader and a gentleman. Like reggie, he never wimp his team but what made me salute the Admiral is his willingness to give-up his superstar main man status for the sake of the team upon the arrival of Tim Duncan. Nothing hurts like being sidelined by "your team" in favor of a new superstar guy.But he know he has to give up that pride and put the sake of the team first. and it result in titles after titles. Everyone in SA got a lot of respect for the guy that After his retirement, there was a signature campaign asking him to run as a mayor(?). but he respectfully declined, he's just focusing on his role as a minister on his church and a role model for the christians.

    more to come.....

  16. MJ is so good that he's bad for today's NBA.

Take the case for example: Kobe. He's always measured against MJ. Despite playing almost the same style, same dunks and flash, he's beenscrutinized by the media and haters coz he's been measured up against a standard so high na bawat mali nya and his now infamous morale break-down equate this talented scorer into a loser. Pressured si Kobe na pantayan si Jordan but ultimately, he will forever fail.

Lebron. first finals game. got flopped. The King turned into burger king and was handily eaten by spurs tough defense. While most columnist either criticized lbj or praise the spurs, other columnist started saying that "during MJ's first finals game, he scored this...did that...blah blah blah.."......so unfair. di na maka move-on ang mga future greats kasi porket flashy ang malulupit mag dunk, jordan-wannabe na agad ang tawag.

Buti pa si duncan, tahimik lang pero rock. I wonder why no one measure him against Bill Russell or Shaq with Wilt Chamberlain.

I think we have too much Jordans. this is 2007. Let's move on. Let his legendary jersey hang inthe United Center rafters or his flashymoves in the nba video archives. I just find it unfair for the present stars being branded as a failure because they come up short on being a Jordan.
