  1. I don't remember there ever being a post in this thread claiming America would be forever. Even if we spoke in terms of half a century it would be a useless discussion as no one knows these things. There is no need to remind that in today's world a virus can topple strong economies. So let me be clear before all else, by no means is America perfect.

Here's the thing, where a mob is judge, jury, and executioner no culture or nation can survive. In the US right now "[h]istory is dead. Intelligence is weakness. Wisdom is scorned" (Charles Hurt, WT, 26 June 2020). But who is spreading this destructive culture? The left. Who is the left? Where'd this tidal wave of hate for everything that America stands for come from, who is funding and fueling it? I mean, CA Dems have just voted to end racism by bringing back racial preference for employment. Hahahahah! Can't make up this idiocy.

If Democrats win in November, yes China might have an in as it has deep ties with Biden. Why anyone in the world would celebrate this is a mystery, seeing as how China is an authoritarian state that tolerates no dissent. Filipinos who are concerned about China's encroachment on Philippine territories should be worried because a weak US means an even more unfettered advance on our vulnerable nation. We have no security and if you think we are a courageous people willing to die for our sovereignty you would be sadly mistaken. Lest you are tempted to think otherwise, you, as an intellectual and as "racially inferior" to Chinese, could not survive the CCP if it took over.

Preparing to dislodge American dominance? Is that what was happening that last trade deal with Trump before they unleashed the wuhan virus? Or are you referring to covid as a war strategy?

China can only take the reigns with deceit. Isn't that what they've been doing all along? Spying, stealing, bullying, and lying. Oh these endless lies they peddle. You can hate America, but at least be realistic on what would happen to the world, to the Philippines, if it failed.

People can go ahead and fawn on the EU or China, or this fantasy Asia with its superior and generous treatment of Filipinos LOL. I hope you are all hedging your bets though and preparing to deal with the world's bad actors if America goes kaput.

Me, I agree with Abraham Lincoln on the earth's last best hope.

  2. Toledo. Just happens to be on repeat.

But it's no use saying that I love you
And how that girl really didn't mean a thing to me
For if anyone should look into your eyes
It's not forgiveness that they're gonna see
    You hear her voice
    "How could you do that?"
The lyrics don't apply to me at all but does Elvis Costello always sing so plaintively?
  3. Please read the article below and can somebody please clarify the issue regarding Muslims mandated to k*ll infidels? Are all non-Muslims infidels?

FROM DR. ADEREMI AKIN...........................As it stands today, the Islamic religion is the fastest growing religion per capita in the United States, especially amongst the minority races!!

Last month I attended my annual training session that's required for maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training session, there was presentations by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim who each explained their beliefs. I was particularly interested in what the Islamic had to say. So, the Muslim gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video.

After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers.

When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Muslim and asked: 'Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world and, that by killing an infidel, (which is a command to all Muslims) they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?'

There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, 'Non-believers!'

I then responded. So, let me make sure I have this straight ie. All followers of Allah have been commanded to k*ll everyone who is not of your faith so they can have a place in heaven. Is that correct?'

The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of a little boy who had just been caught with his hand in the cookie jar. 'He sheepishly replied, 'Yes.'

I then stated, 'Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine the Pope can command all Catholics to k*ll those of your faith or in addition, Dr Stanley ordering all Protestants to do the same in order to guarantee them a place in heaven!'

    The Muslim was speechless!

I continued, 'I also have a problem with being your friend when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to k*ll me! Let me ask you a question: Would you rather have your Allah, who tells you to k*ll me in order for you to go to heaven, or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to heaven and He wants you to be there with me too?'

You could have heard a pin drop as the Imam hung his head in shame.

Needless to say, the organizers or promoters of the 'Diversification' training seminar were not happy with my way of dealing with the Islamic Imam, and exposing the naked truth about the evil in Muslims' beliefs.

Almost 3 years without an answer. The thread gods have been remiss in their duties!

Short answer is yes, infidels and idolaters. The long answer is pretty much all over (the thoughtful segments of) this thread.

  4. they say there is a song for everything. there is even a song for deftly providing a non-existent number to an uninvited question.

but some sadnesses run so deep they are impenetrable by even the most beautiful melody. at the time of my first explaining, i said music was "like some horrifically happy affair when you are betrothed to the king of pain." thankfully, that time is a far-off memory and i can securely listen to bonnie raitt without aching hopelessly; there is no needing to make anyone love me. this re-discovery of my playlists is thanks in no small part to you. you the joyful collector of music, traipsing back into my consciousness and sprinkling all the dark, musty corners with funky, bluesy, lyrical, and raucous fairy notes.

there are no 867-5309s to give away here, no clever half-truths, just genuine gratitude for bringing happiness closer to my horizon.

  5. Listening to the president late, late, late last night, I felt for him. The country has many ills, from entitled, classless senators and the misguided bootlickers in the NBI down to the hooligans who in fear and ignorance beat up health care workers on their way home from grueling and grim work.

Then again, he ran for president knowing what sort of a nation we are. Maybe if he wasn't such a shill for Xi Jin Ping and that sick communist leadership we'd have been better off.

No, wait. We definitely would have been better off.

  6. It's going to be said that it's a waste of energy to be disappointed at the quality of the posts on these threads under Realm of Thought. You'd think that heading would at least give pause to those who come by. But the Undead walk through here, see nothing, think nothing, and express nothing of note. They may as well have typed out some Lovecraftian speech. Arlaj gvfnhadfigh bhaagn. That would've at least been useful as guttural practice.

  7. Still doesn't address my point.

Appreciate what you're saying, Camiar. Agree with most of what you say on the WPS/SCS in general, not always the specifics, and if your memory is at least seven years long then you know I make more or less the same arguments. But...ah...nevermind. Can't expect you to defend the indefensible.

  8. Hardly the point.

If, as you say, China is trying to woo us then why is it "we should not prod China into imposing their power over our weakness?" Seems contrary to think we have leverage and then to also cower because we cannot use that leverage until we develop muscle. Then it isn't really leverage, is it? As for biding our time, wasn't that the reason PNoy went to the UN, to stave off a threat while we were not able to deal with it militarily? I don't get the inconsistency and especially don't get this deep faith in Duterte's abilities.

As I've said on this thread many years ago, occupation almost always amounts to ownership. Other presidents gave up our islands, I get what Duterte is saying, he's been dealt a difficult hand. But to say he is doing well on this issue is quite the leap. All many of us see is a continuing weakness on his part. I had hoped, given all his bluster during the beginning, that he'd at least be as bold as he was with Canadian garbage.
  9. They already have an airstrip near us, have their claws dug in, why build more islands at a time when they're hurting economically.

Point is, I don't think anything they do or don't do with regard to the WPS is because of Duterte.

Also don't think China needs us to send a message to the US. We're not that important to either nation.

  10. It'd be nice to think he was that intelligent, yes maybe he has the press figured out, but that that doesn't ring true in his dealings with China, which is the only issue of any importance here. The optics bad, the direct response awful. And I don't believe his weak response was anything but a dangerous mix of cowardice and exhaustion. I hope I'm wrong for our country's sake.
