  1. 7. Get a massage – a good massage on the Wednesday or Thursday prior to the race can relax you and loosen you up. Plus it just feels good.

    8. Try to relax – Put pre-race anxiety aside by focusing on all of the preparations that you've made to get ready for your race.

     

    sakto. may tentative sched ako bukas sa shizuka. ang kaso, baka no massage ang mangyari. best way to relax is to "release" the tension! hahaha.

    going to ESpas 2-3 days before my run helps me relax and focus/concentrate. hirap tumakbo pag tgastt :P

  2. Just a question for runners.... where do you usually practice running?

    Me... I practice at a nearby cemetery.... 1.1km per lap laugh.gif but if I wanted to for track I go to Marikina Sports Complex

    But I really like to practice at BGC.... there are a lot of nice and beautiful things to see wub.gif (but need to a cab or a car for me to go there)

    kung sa sementeryo putek bibilis talaga takbo ko jan.. hahaha...

    mukhang from BGC drecho ka na sa p.burgos/NPS for some bfast promo ah :P (natry mo na ba dun bro?)

    pero just to answer your question (sorry late ko na nabasa)..

     

    and you can keep that up for weeks at a time and run okay?

    no bro. nagagawa ko lang sya pag may running event, pero that's usually weeks apart (usually 2-3weeks)

    in between events, nde naman ako tumatakbo ng puyat. i keep myself fit by playing bball on sunday evenings

    I'll be running sa RU3 pero malamang 5k lang (planning to run with 2 girls: (1) the girl who got me into running and (2) ms.bday girl this sept.. what can i say, girls = my kryptonite)

  6. been having some trouble sleeping and it's starting to affect the quality of my runs. my chest actually hurt this morning.

     

    so instead of my usual soundtrack, i ran to classical music this morning...schubert's ave maria, to be exact...perfect for death throes.

     

    can you guys run on 4 hours of sleep?

    to answer your question: YES (usually less than 4yrs of sleep, or no sleep at all)

     

    when i started running, i was on 2-11pm saturday workshift... usually nde na ako natutulog after my shift, diretso na sa takbo ng sunday umaga (swerte na kung makaidlip/power nap ako ng 30mins)

    stay lang ako sa office, nagrerelax lang (either movie marathon or sound tripping) .. then stretching/warm up by around 3am

     

    although nde sya advisable talaga (running w/out a decent sleep).. kaya wag nyo ko tularan :P

  7. (late) FR on Kellogg's Special K: Run for a Healthy Filipina

     

    Category: 16k

    Weather: Raining with light shower

    Venue: Venice Piazza, McKinley Hills

    Time: 2hrs 2mins+

     

    Pros: route was very challenging. Plenty of uphills and downhills. Hydration stations were strategically placed along the route. The marshalls and volunteers were very helpful (lalo na sa pag cheer!). Nice lootbags and freebies, nice weather (even though it was raining)... and Aubrey Miles!:wub:

     

    Cons: Too much cars near the runners or along the route. i guess more volunteers next time is good

     

    Mental Note: Next time, no spa session with a regular thera 5hrs before the actual run!!! (or a day before ng run) Tsk tsk.. dapat talaga 2-3days before ng run eh, wag the day before, much more yung oras lang pagitan.. pero ok lang.. sulit pa din naman. solid experience! (both dun sa session and yung sa run hahaha)

    eto isa pa.. what socks do you wear during your runs? thick, padded socks? or thin ones?

     

    personally, i use the five fingers socks of Darlington ("ang medyas na walang himulmol sa sakong" hehe)

    300 for 2pairs sa suking department stores

    manipis lang sya. i once ran using double of these socks pero it was a bit uncomfortable. so i went back to wearing only 1

    nothing special except for the individual cover for each digits on your foot (at syempre walang himulmol sa sakong)

    i chose this kasi dati may issues ako when i run (when i was a kid): nagpapaltos yung daliri ko sa paa because of rubbing with each other (ouch)

    luckily, it only happened once last year when i started running and joining events

    this is the one i also use for bball games nowadays...

  9. mukhang postponed mga running events due to the rains/floods

    hayyy...

     

    closest thing i had was a slight drizzle/shower before nung sa NBA Fit Run and during my sunday runs

    pero havent really experienced running soaked during a heavy downpour

     

    i think last year's Milo marathon participants ran during the rain.. anyone tried running in the rain? can anyone share their experience? what to expect? TIA

    hmmm pede siguro if most members would agree to join a particular event, then meet up nalang dun afterwards

    any suggestions for upcoming runs this April? naubusan ako ng slot sa Earth Run.. :(

  12. Ran for the BDO Run for Life 2012 yesterday

    time (unofficial): 1hr 12mins 40secs+

     

    Feedback:

    -start time was moved. maaraw na nung matapos yung race.

    -hydration stations naubusan ng pocari. grrrr!!! sana na-anticipate na nila.

    -parang ang konti ng marshalls. and nde sila nagchi-cheer sa mga runners :(

    -haba ng pila for pocari (after the run). i know they only want to make it orderly pero the line was loooong. sana ginawa man lang sana 2 lines

    -shirt was great! kaso parang suman fit sakin haha

     

    afterwards, i was able to meet up with bro Turk and his lovely wife (nice to meet you bro!)

    i hope the other members will join the runs so we could meet u as well ^_^

     

    so anu next run? Earth Run? :) (mahal kasi natgeo haha)

  15. Who among us run regularly on weekends as a group of MTC members?

    not sure if there is actually a solid group, pero mostly kanya-kanyang takbo eh (except nalang siguro during running events)

     

    I just ran 21km race for RU1

    21 km = 2 hrs and 7mins and 3 secs blink.gif

    wow nice time bro. sana maka 21k na din ako this year.. ^_^

    may issue daw sa RU1 ah. nagkanakawan ata ng mga finisher's shirt and medals.. even coach rio apologized sa fb about what happened.. tsk tsk
