ceasar salad - serving was very small and dressing was hardly there. although greens were fresh and crisp.

    http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/big%20bad%20wolf/P1000914.jpg

potato skin wedges - presentation was perfect, dish looked very rustic and wedges were plenty. however, thats about the only good thing about the dish since wedges were soggy and lacked flavor. would have loved it to be fried twice to make the skin crisp. such a shame.

raw tuna wrapped in lettuce drizzled with wasabi mayo - dish was just alright othing special and the mayo didnt really taste anything like wasabi.

peppered steak - dish was a total mess. soggy side veg, mash potato seemed like those instant mash potato were you just add water into. and the meat was just over powered by the pepper that you would not taste a single flavor of meat. hardly finished this dish.

    overall:

ambiance - 3 ( placed looked cool and very inviting )

food - 1 ( every dish was a total miss from flavor to presentation )

service - 2 ( servers lacked knowledge of what the dishes were or what was availaable on the menu )

price - 2 ( for the quality of food the price was a bit over priced.)

  2. @ Sir EKL ...... interesting FR there on Chef Bruce Lim's resto.

I tried his other resto (the one in Robinsons Galleria) named HYPHY and I wasn't really impressed with the food there..... for me it kinda lacked the elegance. But I guess this one in Taguig should be worth a stopover one of these days.

i actually found chef bruce's food to be just ok but at least theres a little "ummph" to his take on filipino dish unlike bistro filipino with chef laudico, which was just awefull. i admit his presentation of his dishes were amazing but the taste was just really bad.

  3. CHEF'S TABLE BY BRUCE LIM

    FORT BONIFACIO, TAGUIG

One of my most staple channels to watch on television is the AFC channel( asian food channel) it features some of the "best" or should i say renoun chef's of the world particularly in asia. So, to my delight when i find out that chef bruce lim from shows like tablescape, the boss and chefs table has opened its doors to the public.

ceasar salad with chicken inasal - one of the most flavorful ceasar salads ive had and the tender juicy chicken insal just went perfect with the greens.

    http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/chefs%20table%20by%20bruce%20lim/P1010222.jpg

fish head binakol - lapulapu head pan fried and simmered over fish broth. soup was flavorful but lack the heat.

    http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/chefs%20table%20by%20bruce%20lim/P1010217.jpg

aligue rice - unfortunately, due to my diet i wasnt able to taste this but i was told by my collegues that the rice was very flavorful and that the alique was pretty much visible.

    http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/chefs%20table%20by%20bruce%20lim/P1010216.jpg

beef steak pasta - penne pasta sauteed in steak sauce and enhanced with calamansi topped of with beef slices, onion rings and queso de bola.

    http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/chefs%20table%20by%20bruce%20lim/P1010225.jpg

dinuguan - seemed bland in flavor but contained decent portions of pork

    http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/chefs%20table%20by%20bruce%20lim/P1010226.jpg

calderetang itik - meat was tender and hot sauce was perfect for the dish balancing that sweet creamy sauce.

    http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/chefs%20table%20by%20bruce%20lim/P1010223.jpg

kare kare - sauce was very peanuty which i love. meat could have been simmered longer for a more tender bite.

    http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/chefs%20table%20by%20bruce%20lim/P1010227.jpg

tortang talong with maalat na itlog - we all agreed this was the star of the night. eggplant was cooked to perfection and the sweetness of the carmelized onion with the salted egg just played tricks on your palette like fireworks in your mouth.

    overall:

ambiance - 3 ( place was very modern but would have liked the tables to be more sturdy and the place seemed very cramped.)

food - 4 ( although i loved most of the dishes there were still some improvements i think the establishment could have worked on)

service - 3 ( service staff were accomodating however, there were times where yould have to get infront of them just to get their attention plus for some reason plates and silverwares kept dropping on the floor the whole evening. )

price - 3 ( prices are reasonable enough considering one is eating at a celebrity chefs establishment)

Sidenote: chef bruce is also hosting private dinners which are held in their chefs table studio. you can reserve for a private dining experience featuring chef bruce where he will personally cook for you and your party, minimum of 2. Plus in this private dining experience diners will get to eat foods that arent on his regular menus.

  4. asmo , i'll be free on sunday but only after lunch and i can't make it dinner time since it is new years eve. however, if you guys are ok maybe we can have afternoon snacks at cafe 1771 around 2pm? whatcha think?

tq, thanks for the compliment but i think i still got a lot of learning to do with my shots. asmo actually takes pretty good photos.

so what say you guys? sunday afternoon?

  5. archipelago 7107

    il terrazo, QC

Heres another try in posting archipelago 7107.

    http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/archipelago%207107/P1000125.jpg

chicharon bulaklak - soggy and cold. evident that the dish was cooked with room temp oil and the taste made it obvious that old oil was used.

    http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/archipelago%207107/P1000126.jpg

bicol exress - spicy. nothing more.

    http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/archipelago%207107/P1000132.jpg

shrimp in aligue sauce - would have liked the shrimps to be a bit bigger and couldnt hardly see nor taste the aligue flavor.

    http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/archipelago%207107/P1000127.jpg

bopis - one of my most favorite filipino dishes, unfortunately, this dish was a total dissapointment. dish was too salty

    http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/archipelago%207107/P1000130.jpg

vigan fried rice - loved the presentation, yet again this was a total bust. rice were cold, bagnet was soggy and dry and as for the longanissa bits one could hardly eat it for it was hard as a rock.

overall, i didnt like my experience here. i wish establishments would take more pride in their product and not just concentrate on the appearance that they project.

I have to admit seeing the menu made me really wanna eat everything specially with the appetizing photos. I guess one shouldnt always believe what they see.

My personal opinion of the whole dining experience rating from 1 - 5. 5 being the highest:

ambiance - 2 ( the place didnt really caught my attention, seemed boring )

food - 2 ( every dish that we ate was just a dissapointment, but still gave points for appearance )

service - 3 ( eventhough the establishment only had around 3 people serving customers, they still tried their best to get to everyones needs and were very friendly )

price - 2 ( for the quality of food being served i would say its just a bit over priced. I'd rather choose to eat at any side vendors anytime )

  6. I definitly can't make it tonight. (but thanks for the invite)

how about I ask you for a small favor ???? Just in case you do get to dine at UKKOKEI, would you kindly ask them of their sunday schedule (are they open or not)

sure thing, but till now still trying to get a hold of them but still no answer. by the way mind sending me your contact number so i can update you. will be heading out of the country tom so might not get a chance to log in tonight.

  7. i have no idea ...... its been awhile since I brought them from korean groceries.

hmmmmmmm gotta check if the noodles I'm buying are of the "SHIN" kind. (thanks for the heads up)

is this for real?! oh noh! been eating a lot of these over the holidays. it been my staple choice of comfort food everytime i feel lazy and just wanna stay home in front

of the tube. i sure hope this isnt true.

oh, and by the way you guys should try eating the noodles raw. just add the powder to the dried noodles, mix it well and make sure to break the noodles into bite size pieces. and just munch on it. its really good. kinda feels like eating korean popcorn.
