Went to have dinner at Eat & Go in Megamall. I got fascinated by their Onion & Mushroom Toast. I devoured 90% of the serving.
i take it, it wasnt that good? since you only ate 90% of it.

when eating a burger at mcdo, say a quarter pounder, try removing the top bun then place several fries on top of the patty then spread a pack of their bbq sauce which they use for nuggets then place back the bun and eat it. trust me its a a whole new experience. im sure many of you will love it.

ELIAS, FORT BONIFACIO STRIP
My apologies for my prviews post regarding kanto. it's actually ELIAS restaurant that is a part of the Felix group. This is a new establishment located at the new wing of the Fort Bonifacio strip, supposedly the last area to be developed in that vicinity.

http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/elias/photo-79.jpg
FREE chichacorn - very crunchy and a bit on the sweet salty side. yumm...
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/elias/photo-78.jpg
tinapa rice - flavorful and rice cooked perfectly not soggy
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/elias/photo-80.jpg
bagooong rice - the dish didnt really cream bagoong but its actually the way i prefer it. just subtle hints of bagoong flavor and it does smell very aromatic.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/elias/photo-74.jpg
baby squid - dish was a bit bland eventhough the squid was tender think this dish was very forgettable.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/elias/photo-76.jpg
chicken inasal - the chicken was very tender however, flavor lacked a bit of kick. did love the orange atchara that came with this dish.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/elias/photo-75.jpg
Forgot what this dish was called but it tasted like caldereta and tapa combined.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/elias/photo-73.jpg
fried bangus topped with lots of garlic - this dish would have been perfect unfortunately, at first the servers forgot to put the garlic on top and we had to requst for it. however, the fish was very fat and juicy.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/elias/photo-77.jpg
crispy pata - excellent. pork was cooked perfectly no burned marks or that bitter burnt taste. meat was still moist and crunchy.
overall: ambiance 4.5 - eventhough the place was a bit small it still had a beautiful interior and the lighting in this place was excelent.
food 4 - even if some dishes were a miss i'd still think this place serves pretty good food and looking at the menu i'd wanna try their other dishes like the laing pizza. will definitely go back.
service 3 - not sure if its because there were a lot of us but servers kept missing a lot of things from the garlic of our fried bangus to our condiments at the tables. wish they would train their servers a bit more.
price 3.5 - price is fairly reasonable and with the quality of the place and food one can;t complain.

YAKU, PODIUM MALL
after our merienda at kanto we still felt hungry and unsatisfied so we headed on up to check out other establishments. came across a floor in the mall which fad a variety of restaurants to choose from. they chinese ( shi lin) , singaporean and japanese. We opted for the japanese for something light yet filling.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/yaku/photo-86.jpg
free dilis - a bit itchy on the lips
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/yaku/photo-85.jpg
tamago - lacks the sweetness and chillness it usually has when served.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/yaku/photo-84.jpg

http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/yaku/photo-82.jpg
golden mushroom wrapped in bacon - a bit salty but flavorful
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/yaku/photo-89.jpg

http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/yaku/photo-88.jpg
salmon in terriyaki sauce - wish they use less sauce. the ginger flavor was too strong
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/yaku/photo-87.jpg
beef teriyaki - meat was a it tough to chew and flavor was plain
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/yaku/photo-81.jpg
chicken teriyaki - flavor was excellent a bit on the sweet and salty side
overall: ambiance 3.5 - modern interiors however, wish they would have brighten up the place a bit. it was just too dark.
food 3.5 - taste and presentation of food was just average
service 3.5 - serveres were easily available however it did take soemtime for some dishes to be put out.
price 3.5 - average pricing on commercialize japanese cuisine.

KANTO, PODIUM MALL
Who would have thought, one would find such great selctions of places to eat at one of manilas forgotten malls. The Podium mall.
Kanto is another hit and miss establishment created by the group that brought us establishments such as felix and crisostomo.
Mainly concentrated on filipino cuisines, Kanto is known for its take on filipino street foods which most of us grew up on.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/kanto/photo-67.jpg
crispy frid isaw - taste alright. dont really feel the cholesterol entering the system yet..
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/kanto/photo-68.jpg
chichron bulaklak - decent enough and not as oily as i would have thought.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/kanto/photo-69.jpg
fishballs - fairly tasty and not so much as starchy. also, the sauces goes perfectly with this dish.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/kanto/photo-70.jpg

http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/kanto/photo-71.jpg
kwek kwek - quail eggs dipped in batter and deep fried. These had the biggest quail eggs i have ever seen. and they taste really fresh.
overall: ambiance 4 - nice old filipino home feel to it.
food 3.5 - some dishes wer a hit and some were just a total miss
service 4 - wait staff were very polite and accomodating
price 3.5 - considering these are street foods the price is fairly high altough one does consider the location of the establishment and the way it is presented.
-
anyone ever tried off beat burger? its the over stuffed burger and instead of using burger buns it uses donuts.
-
what i meant is the mandarin villa in binondo the same as the chinese restaurant in greenhills back in the day? i believe the name os the place was also mandarin villa.
-
is this the same mandarin villa in greenhills back in the day? when promenade was still a huge parking lot and only a few restaurants were situated then from jollibee, to san francisco steak house.
-
Not sure. Haven't been in the area in a while
-
asmo, were you able to try sambokojin?

There's a really great fried siopao in Caloocan and yes with the dried siopaos think it's more than just the seared bottom but also the additional ingredients in the filling

Crispy squidlets - a bit on the salty side, crumbs were pretty good however they tend to seperate easly from the squid
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/cue%20modern%20bbq/photo-59.jpg
Mac and Cheese - probably one of the worse mac and cheese ive ever had. no flaor at all, we ended up using salt, pepper and lots of parmasean cheese just to make the dish work.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/cue%20modern%20bbq/photo-57.jpg
Chili monggo and fried onion strings - these sides came with our order. the chili mongo was excelent specially when it comes to the heat although it still lacked a bit of salt. as for the onion strings it was pretty good as well and it too needed salt.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/cue%20modern%20bbq/photo-64.jpg
Half slab ribs - the ribs were very moist and does fall of the bone. cooked perfectly.

http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/cue%20modern%20bbq/photo-62.jpg
a li'l bit of everything - this dish contained a little bit of everything from its wooden plate menu which consisted of different meats. ribs, were tender and juicy. angus belly, was very tastey and succulent specially with the trimings of fat. lamb, was not good at all it had an awful after taste. chicken, very tender and juicy.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/cue%20modern%20bbq/photo-61.jpg
Fresh ginger and grape shake - surprisingly this combo does work.
overall:
ambiance 3.5 - place could have used a little more room, it was a bit tight to move in. although i did appreciate the make shift chandelier from cords and light bulb
food 4 - would have given it an almost perfect score if only they knew how to season.
service 4 - staff were pretty polite and accomodating
price 3.5 - a bit on the pricey side but i think with the amount of food being served it if fairly reasonable.
-
try checking out the new wing of bonifacio high street. lots of new establishments have finaly opened up. choices from thai ( mango tree), japanese ( geisha), italian (aria), bbq (cue), filipino ( lorenzo's way ) and many others.
-
Anyone ever tried geisha at the fort? Heard the place and food is very well presented however value for your money isn't much worth it. Servings are very small for the price.
-
Yup! Totally agree. Was craving this so much I ended up goin to up two days ago and got me some tapsilog

http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/photo-56.jpg
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/photo-54.jpg
Banchan - complimentary sides, mostly consisting of veg, from sprouts, to spinach and of course kimchi. however, their banchan differes everytime depending on the availability of the produce.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/photo-53.jpg
japchae - glass noodles were cooked perfectly and seasoning of the dish was excellent. loved this dish.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/photo-55.jpg
spicy rice cake - kinda like pasta, very firm and spicy.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/photo-49.jpg
grilled mackerel - fish was fresh and surprisingly big.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/photo-50.jpg
beef stew - at firsst look the dish seemed opaque and tateless. but upon eating it the flavors of the dish was perfect. it's probably one of the best beef stews ive ever had. not too sweet and doesnt have that strong gingery flavor as well.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/photo-48.jpg
spicy chicken - just alright. nothing special
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/photo-52.jpg
L.A. ribs - meat was very tender and sweet.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/photo-51.jpg
us beef - wish they would have cut the meat into smaller or thiner slices. some of the parts was difficult in chewing.
We also ordered bimbimpbop which is mixed rice kinda like the korean fried rice and it was pretty good although it didnt have the burnt crusts that i love.
overall:
ambiance 3 - place was very smokey from all the grilling. wish they had put more vents.
food 4.5 - food was excellent. perfect seasoning
service 4- staff are very pleasing and willing to serve immediately
price 3.5 - for an authentic korean resto id say its fairly reasonable unlike some korean restos that are priced fairly high. also with the quality of food id say its just about right. our total bill amounted to 8,900 but thats only because there was 12 of us and some of the dishes had 3 - 4 orders.
-
If you wanna impress a date and money is no object I suggest you take her to sushi kappo in makati. They serve very authentic Japanese food and ingredients are often flown in from Japan. The establishment is limited to 25 seats however the chefs which are authentic Japanese are 6 so imagine the ratio of chefs to patrons. A dinner set menu can set you back from 4,000 ++ per head to 6,000++ per head depending on the type of menu.

Malcolm's Deli, Fort Bonifacio
In the past year, there has been an uprising popularity for wagyu beef's. This specific type of beef is known to be the beef of all beefs, with its marbled fats, biting it was like butter. I agree wagyu beef has got to be the best tasting, mouth watering, melts in your mouth type of beef well as far as all that ive tasted. One should also be aware that wagyu beef are actually sold in different grades from the low end ones to the very high class A which by the way can range from 2,500/ kilo to 10,000 / kilo and some even higher.
Anywyas ive been hearing about this burger joint that actually specializes in wagyu beefs with almost every meat on the menu being wagyu. I knew i just had to go and try.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/malcolms/photo12.jpg
Not only are they serving cooked food but also sells frozen meats such as wagyu steaks.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/malcolms/photo13.jpg
Club sandwich - with the usual dressings except for the extra crunchy bacon and wagyu beef.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/malcolms/photo10.jpg
Aligue pasta - very spicy almost too spicy that it over powers the aligue flavor
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/malcolms/photo14.jpg
Wagyu beef rib eye - the famous wagyu beef, unfortunately, it was such a dissapointment. the meat was sliced too thick that it wasnt soft, tender nor had that buttery texture. what a shame, and twas priced fairly high.
http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m585/ekl1982/malcolms/photo11.jpg
Wagyu burger with bacon and cheese - unfortunately, even the burger really dissapointed. i was expecting something great or at least something different. all i got was a plain burger with bacon and cheese on top. as for the flavor, there was hardly any. think was better off eating at a local mcdonald's at least you can really taste their meat and its only 1/3 of the price.
OVerall:
Venue 3 - the place was a bit cramped in the inside but had a pretty spacious area outside.
Food 2.5 - it was a total dissapointment, considering the reputation, price and quality of meat being served.
service 2.5 - i hadnt mentioned this but when we came here the staff would not allow us to stay since they said they were already fully booked and when i looked around there were a couple of vacant tables. yes they had reserved signs which we totally understand. However, what i dont get is why wouldnt the staff make way to find us an area. specially since the outdoors area was still very empty. even advice them if need be why not borrow a table from the restaurant next door seeing they wernt full. Whats worse is almost all the people that had resrved were people that got coupons from goupon which meant they were paying at a promo price. We almost had left if it wernt for our perseverance we ended up pulling one fo their display tables and used it instead. oh and by the way our bill for the night reached 5,000 including drinks and pica picas, imagine the additional sale they made bec of our perseverance. wish there manager would have been trained better.
price 3 - considering the taste and quality of food and service id say it was way over priced.
